3 Chapter 3: First Pokemon

Reaching downstairs, a delicious aroma assaulted me.

"Good morning Noctus" she said, while she was preparing breakfast.

"Are you going to Professor Oak now?"

"Maybe a bit later" I replied, I'm in no rush to meet my soon-to-be partner, I'm just gonna enjoy my time with grandma, today is the day that I will be going on a journey.

"Breakfast is ready"

I sat and readied myself, I'm gonna eat at least 5 bowls, I might not be able to eat cookies again when I'm gone, maybe ask for the recipe.

"Did you already prepare your things?" asked grandma.

"Yup, everything is ready"

After breakfast, I'm on my way to Prof. Oak.

*swoosh *huff *huff

A figure ran past me, and I saw a kid seems to be ten years old, wearing his green pajamas, in a hurry.

I arrived and I saw a crowd at the front of the lab and even a cheerleader squad.

"Gary! Gary! he's the man, he can do it no one can"

'Who's Gary?' I thought as a certain snail flashed in my mind.

I walked past the crowd and saw the same kid that ran past me, who seems to be in a quarrel with another child.

'Isn't that Ash' I thought, who wouldn't identify the legendary protagonist of Pokemon, and the other kid seems to be Gary, Professor Oak's grandson'

I walk past them, as Gary the boy who looks to be the same age as Ash noticed me.

"Hey wait up, who are you? are you also here to get your Pokemon?" he asked, as the crowd seemed to focus their attention on me, I look a bit old to get a Pokemon from the professor.

"By the way, I'm Gary, nice to meet you"

"I'm Ash"

"Oh nice to meet both of you, I'm Noctus" I said, as Gary and Ash seems to realize something.

'Seems like they already knew about me'

"Anyway, I will be the Pokemon Master, way before both of you, especially you loser" said Gary, as he point his finger at Ash.

*sigh I can't help but facepalm myself, I don't know how this kid's brain works, I can't even understand how the parents can let their ten years old to go on a journey filled with dangers.

"Let's go, Gary, let's go! Yeah! Yeah!"

"Thank you fans, thank you for this great honor, as I said earlier I will be a Pokemon Master and make the town of Pallet known all around the world" said Gary as he face the crowd, and he even have his chauffeur, he rides at the back and said "Thank you for coming to see history in the making, now I Gary Oak are off to learn the ways of the Pokemon Trainer" as he waved his hand, and the car goes.

The crowd follows with him.

"I'll show you" I heard Ash beside me.

"So decided to show up after all, and hello there Noctus I'm glad that you are fine now and come into decision" said Professor Oak from behind.

"Oh good morning Professor" I greeted back, from my memories, seems that Professor Oak sometimes tried to invite me to his laboratory to meet the Pokemon, but I rejected it.

"Professor Oak where's my Pokemon?" Ash asked.

"Your Pokemon?"

"Yes, I'm ready"

"Sure you look like you're ready for bed, not for Pokemon training, I hope you don't think that you will train with your pajamas"

"Anyways, both of you follow me to the lab" said Prof. Oak as we followed him to his lab.

"Since Ash is late, the three starters have already been taken by the trainers who aren't late" after hearing the professor, Ash became dejected.

"As for you Noctus, I specifically choose this Pokemon since I saw you always train outside, I think this Pokemon will be very suitable for you, and also take this Pokeballs and Pokedex" Professor pass me a Pokeball with a fist symbol drawn on it, he also gave me five Pokeballs and a Pokedex.

[Ding!] hearing the notification on my mind, its pretty much the quest completion

'I will check it later on'

Ash saw the Pokeball, and he become even sadder.

I felt bad for the kid honestly, but I know for sure that he will get the Pikachu.

"Does that mean Professor that all the Pokemon are gone?"

"Well there is one left but I..." Professor Oak seems to be hesitant to give the Pokemon.

"Professor I'll take it" upon hearing the Professor, Ash immediately said, he didn't want to lose the chance, it might take weeks, or worse months to get his Pokemon.

Another Pokeball appeared in the middle of the three empty Pokeball, which also has a symbol but this time it was an electric symbol.

I already knew what Pokemon is that so I excuse myself from the both of them, and return home.

I've watched a few episodes of Pokemon, especially the first episode, so I didn't want to change that much from the canon, though my sheer existence might already change the future events, I think the events that happened in the first episode are essential for the growth to both Pikachu and Ash.

On my way home I didn't forget to check some wild Pokemon's data, which as expected almost all of them are below level ten.

Upon arriving I saw grandma and Alakazam seems to be busy cooking and preparing something.

"Oh Noctus, did you receive your Pokemon?" she asked.

I smiled and showed her the Pokeball with a fist symbol drawn on it.

I release the Pokemon, and saw a humanoid Pokemon, with a pale purple body and three blunt protrusions at the top of its head.

I'm not that familiar with this Pokemon, I never caught it in the games that I've played before, but it has a bit of resemblance to the three Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, and the top-looking one, maybe this is the pre-evolved Pokemon of the three.

I checked the stats of the Pokemon.

Level: 5

Trainer: Noctus Shieda

Moves: Fake Out, Focus Energy, Helping Hand, Tackle, Counter (Egg move)

Ability: Guts

Can't help but sigh remembering the times when I played Pokemon, I don't care what moves my Pokemon learned as long that it has a much stronger power than the other, now that I'm in a real Pokemon world, I need to have some knowledge regarding every moves that my Pokemon learn so that they can have a combo that gives no chance for the opponent to counter.

"Oh you got a Tyrouge, seems that Prof. Oak takes your training as his basis when choosing a Pokemon, that's good" my grandma said.

Tyrouge looks at me with confusion.

"Hey Tyrouge, from now on you and I will become partners, our goal is to be the strongest" Tyrouge acknowledges, as fire emerges from his eyes, giving me a huge smile thumbs up.

"Tyrouge (You got it, boss)"

Grandma and Alakazam can't help but chuckle at our antics.

"Grandma we will be upstairs to prepare our things" both of us head to my room, I can't wait to know what rewards I would get.

"Okay, just be sure to come down when I call you" as both grandma and Alakazam return to what they were doing.

After entering, Tyrouge looked around while I focused on the screen in front of me.

[Ding! "Your Pokemon" Quest Completed]

[Gained Rewards: 1x Random Draw, 1x Mystery Starter Box]

I checked the 'Inventory' to open the Mystery Box.

'A bit generous I would say'

I open the 'Gacha' panel and saw that I have 1 free spin.

I'll try my luck and hope to get a good one, it shows a variety of fighting styles, skills, and abilities, some of them are OP when reaching their full potential.

I've watched a couple of Anime, but I'm not that familiar with the others, especially the one that I got, so I checked its details.

[Freedom (Unique Boxing Style)

- It's user fights in a random manner with an unorthodox style of fighting, it gives the user exceptional elasticity and flexibility, and enables to dodge and weave from impossible angles while striking back relentlessly.]

"Woah, isn't this awesome, imagine dodging an impossible-to-dodge attack" I immediately use the fighting style to Tyrouge, in which I now have an idea of what evolution path I will choose for him.

'I hope he won't reject my suggestion, then I can teach him the simple 'Basic Boxing Style'

Sensing the changes, Tyrouge looked at me as if asking 'what's going on?'

Then I told him the fighting style and the things he could do, and he agreed with my suggestion, it seems that even he wants to choose the boxing path.

After that I browse for a bit on ways to evolve Tyrouge into Hitmonchan, it says that it will evolve to Hitmonchan if its defense is higher than its attack, the opposite on Hitmonlee, and equal for Hitmontop.

Now I know that I should focus on maintaining the defense a bit higher than attack until it evolves into Hitmonchan, then later increase the attack.

A while later grandma called me, I head downstairs with my backpack that has my clothes in it, I had already stored the other items in my inventory, I wore a black shirt, a blue hooded jacket with an orange collar, black pants, and a black rubber shoes, and beside me is Tyrouge who didn't want to return to his Pokeball, he seems to want to train even while walking.

"Noctus is here" I heard grandma, I looked in her direction and saw some of our neighbors which I recognized some them from the memory. Then I saw Aunt Delia, she is a good friend of my mother, and Ash is nowhere to be found, seems like he was already on his journey.

"Hello aunties, uncles" I greeted them, as the neighbors congratulate me, they know what happened to our family when I was a kid so they are happy for me for overcoming the trauma.

After congratulating me, grandma asked the guest to have a simple meal, then I heard praises from here and then, seems like I'm not the only one who enjoy grandma's cooking.

After the meal the guests leave one after another not before they wished me good luck on my journey, then Aunt Delia gifted me a Pokeball holder and black pokemon cap, she wished me good luck and asked me to look out for Ash if I ever meet him, as she bid farewell.

After all the guests are gone, I looked at grandma before she said "Oh wait bring this with you" as she ran to the kitchen bringing back a bag full of cookies.

I teared up a bit, as I hugged her and muttered "Thanks grandma"

"You are a grown-up now stop crying HAHAHA, well then good luck on your journey" she said happily, but I feel a bit of sadness, her grandson will finally leave his nest, and she can't help but feel sad, her grandson who's with her for years will finally leave and have his journey.

I waved at her as I was getting farther, then I heard her say "Noctus don't forget to bring back a girl okay?" which almost cause me to slip.

"HAHAHA I will!"
