48 Down By the River!

Gan remained on standby, whatever orders he wanted to give Gyarados wouldn't be heard while it was underwater. Well, if it was close enough, it would be able to hear him no matter what, but it was too far as of now.

Gan could see small ripples appear in the water, but they started to get bigger, then they suddenly stopped. Eventually, the area where the ripples had halted, began to freeze over. Gan knitted his eyebrows and figured that this was the doing of Gyarados, did it learn some Ice-type move?

Right as he was thinking this, something was launched out of the water before landing on the bank of the river. Gan looked once and was surprised to see that it was Goldeen, however, it had been frozen and encased in a small Ice block!

Gan didn't get to think long when the river's water began to surge. At that moment, Gyarados' towering figure emerged. It looked a Goldeen for a second before reverting its attention to Gan.

Gan stared up at the monstrous sea beast with a stunned expression. This wasn't an Onix with shit-on stats, it was Gyarados; a Pokemon that was known for causing terror in the Anime, Games, and even competitive play.

Gyarados lowered its head, it seemed to be awaiting orders or wanting Gan to hop on. Too bad, though, he wasn't allowed to swim in the river.

Gyarados had a strong personality, but it respected Gan greatly, it had always watched Gan from its Pokeball. His battles with the Gym Leaders, his large-scale battle in Viridian Forest, it had seen it all and knew this was a good trainer that was going places.

As a Magikarp, it didn't think too much about these things, since it wasn't the smartest at that time. But once it evolved it understood much more, it was far superior in intelligence, and combat; and thus, it was enlightened on various situations.

"Incredible, you've become even better than you were before." Of course, Gan was kinda bull-sh**ting here, because Magikarp was never good. Gyarados wasn't stupid and knew Gan was clearly saying this to compliment it, but it didn't mind this, and in fact, liked it.

Gan walked closer to touch Gyarados' body. Its body was hard, while some places were covered in scales that could easily cut a human to death. Her long white whiskers hung down and curl outward; he remembered it was a female because of this color, while males have blue whiskers.

He also took this time to analyze its stats.

...

Gyarados had learned a large number of moves upon evolving, it was a great improvement from just Splash and Tackle. Haunter thought she was seeing things, that pathetic fish changed into something like this!?

Gyarados was a flying type, so they could come out of the water. This allowed it to attack people on land without being tied to the water exclusively. This made this Pokemon a complete headache to villages, cities, and towns; there was no safe against this beast!

The only thing that saved a lot of people was that Gyarados didn't like to spend too much time away from water.

Gan turned a tossed a Pokeball at Goldeen, who was still encased in ice with its eyes closed. This was an easy catch and it was added to his Pokedex. Gan pointed to Slowpoke and ordered Gyarados to use bite on it.

In mere moments, it was also defeated and caught. Soon after, Gyarados dove back into the water to search for a Pokemon Gan described to it.

"Yeah, it should be over here somewhere, near the bank..." Gan had actually pulled out a chair and had started to relax near the river; when he heard some voices coming over.

Gan turned his head while still sitting in his chair with Geodude near his foot. Geodude also turned around to look when it heard the voices. A group of men appeared out of the thicket of tall bushes, some were police officers while the others were rangers.

The rangers wore dark blue shorts with brown boots. They also sported light orange jackets with dark blue undershirts. As for the police officers, they wore the traditional police wear except for the use of guns, and only had flashlights with a single Pokeball tightly fitted to their waist.

"Oh... are you camping out here?" One of the police officers said when he spotted Gan.

"Yeah, sorta, I'm catching Pokemon in the river, did something happen?" Gan asked this question, but he could somewhat understand what was going on here—at least the reason they were here.

"We've received several reports of danger near the river, some say a Gyarados appeared. Something like must be caught and removed from the river, it's rare for a Magikarp to stick around and evolve here to settle."

A Ranger, who appeared to be the leader of this exploration spoke. This man was tall and muscular, his eyes were sharp as he explained everything to Gan.

"Oh, yeah..." Just when Gan was about to explain, the water began to rise and Gyarados appeared.

"My god, they were right!" One of the rangers was stunned. A Magikarp really decided to stay behind after evolving, he thought.

"Call it in..." This type of Pokemon was too close to the City, it spelled nothing but disaster!

"Hold it! This is my Pokemon, I sent it into the water to catch other Pokemon." Gan hurriedly explained.

"What? You're a trainer?" The police officer was stunned for a moment, but a person usually started becoming a trainer at 16.

"Do you have any Id to prove this?" They could clearly see Geodude. However, they were shocked by another scene, there was an unidentifiable purple gas ball floating over the water. This was obviously Haunter, but it wasn't revealing its true self to any of them to make out.

Gan didn't hesitate and showed them his Id. They kept a close eye on the Gyarados, this Pokemon was too destructive; there was even fear in their eyes when looking at it.

After checking to see if it was authentic, they found it to be real. The Rangers were the main ones who could tell this much. Right as they confirmed this, Gyarados closed its mouth and then opened its mouth to regurgitate something.

"AH..." The police officers jumped in fright. They had seen Gyarados using Hyper Beam to destroy villages and cities, so they almost sh** their pants.

"Dang, are you alright?" Gan knew Gyarados was scary, but it was a Pokemon under his traineeship, it wouldn't attack anyone unless he ordered it.

"Haha, just bad flashbacks." One of the officers wiped his forehead and laughed strangely.

"Hmm..." Gan turned to see what Gyarados had spat out. He couldn't tell what it was until it moved, which was strange to Gan.

"What the..."

.....

|Name: Shellder♂

|Type: Water

|Level: 16

|Ability: Skill Link

|Potential: ★★

|Nature: Impish

|Moves: Tackle| Water Gun| Ice Shard| Withdraw| Leer| Whirlpool|

.....

Suddenly, big googly eyes appeared in the shell, then a long tongue flung out soon after. Gan couldn't help but chuckle seeing Shellder's appearance. He asked Gyarados if it had any fortune in finding the Pokemon he described, and it only shook its large head.

Everyone now sighed in relief, this confirmed that this Gyarados was really his. Honestly, they couldn't believe a kid could tame such a crazy Pokemon. But they had to believe it now, the proof had shown itself in full display.

His Id even showed that he already had a badge from Pewter City, so there was nothing more for them to doubt.

"Okay, it looks like this misunderstanding has been cleared up. We'll be sure to report this as nothing, let's go." The group turned to leave, but a few of them gazed at Gyarados again before leaving completely.

From what he could make out, Gyarados wasn't looked upon favorably but he understood why. Not thinking anymore about it, he looked at Shellder who was still sitting there doing nothing.

Gan decided to toss a Pokeball at it, but as soon as he did; the Shellder used its tongue to flip its body forward. With that, the back part of its shell knocked the Pokeball away.

"This little fella got some fighting spirit." Gan smiled. In no time, Gyarados attacked Shellder by using Bite. Shellder tried to escape, but it was too late and it was once again taken into Gyarados' mouth.

Gyarados slammed Shellder into the ground, causing it to have dizzy spells. It didn't take much damage, but it was still dizzy. Gan tossed Pokeball again, and the Pokemon was caught, it seemed like it was suffering from confusion.

Since Gyarados couldn't track Squirtle no matter what it did, he decided to put off trying to find one. Gan recalled Gyarados and Gastly before leaving the area but he did enjoy relaxing here, it was surprisingly a nice place to camp.

Gan was aware that a certain cave was around here, it was a place he wouldn't dare to visit as he was now. He left the area to head back to Cerulean City, there was no point in staying out here anymore.

Passing over the bridge, Gan received a few strange gazes that hinted at different emotions. Gan pay no heed to them and kept going on his way, at this point, he had already recalled all of his Pokemon.

Gan had just arrived at Cerulean City about 3 hours ago, and now, he was ready to leave.

"Since I have a Gyarados, I should be able to track down Dratini. Gyarados should win with the move Ice Fang if a fight broke out."

Gan wanted this Pokemon once he returned to pick up that Kangaskhan. He had a feeling that Dratini was going to be hard to track down, but for this Pokemon, it was worth it.

The next thing he wanted to find was a hotel, or he could just leave now for Celedon City. Gan knew he was a busybody, he had done so much after entering this world—perhaps he was moving too fast?

Right as he was thinking this, he spotted Warren and Arlo walking in another direction.

"Well, how about that..."
