Tournament's End 1/4!

Once the move sets of Diana's pokemon were revealed, she left the room. Diana had to admit that Forretress looked really cool, but she couldn't say the same for the derpy-looking Quagsire.

Everyone gathered in the main hall where they originally selected their pokemon. The tournament wouldn't commence until 30 minutes from now. At this time, everyone sat quietly and pondered.

Roy and Diana went to a secluded area in the room, so he could run over some strategies with these pokemon. Roy closely and patiently spoke of a good strategy with these pokemon since they were so good together.

Even their move sets could assist each other.

Diana listened closely and was stunned before grinning happily. Thirty minutes was nothing and the time for battle had come. A total of four battlefields were set up across the colosseum for these trainers.

Roy could tell that they wanted to end this as fast as possible. And with this, it would surely end much faster than the huge placement tournament yesterday. With four rings set and ready for battle, Diana's time for combat was immediate.

Roy sat in the stadium where his attention was on Diana's battle.

Each referee announced who would be battling who. The contestants were already in position for battle. The battles all started at once, the battlefields were spaced out from one another.

Diana's opponent was a boy with light blue hair and dark blue eyes. He wore a jumpsuit of all things, which also happened to be sky blue.

"Let's go, Marowak and Wigglytuff!" Ren sent out his duo of pokemon and so did Diana.

What followed next was chaotic battles, this was happening on other battlefields. Several intense battles erupted across the colosseum all at once.

In any case, Roy could see that Diana had the overall advantage against Ren. This caused Roy to sigh in relief, but the type advantage didn't mean absolute victory.

Roy could see that Marowak and Wigglytuff both had fire moves. Marowak had Fire Punch and Wigglytuff had the move Flamethrower. The minute Diana summoned her pokemon, she turned to Roy.

Roy gave her a hand gesture by twinkling his finger downward. This was the type of battle style he believed Diana should play against these pokemon.

Ren looked worried, this was because of the Quagsire. Despite its derpy look, it was hard to deal with; this was especially so in this match-up.

Diana gave her first set of orders by having Quagsire set up Rain Dance. But how could Ren allow this? He quickly ordered both Wigglytuff and Marowak to attack Quagsire at the same time.

Diana had already seen this coming from a mile away, so she quickly ordered Forrestress to block in front of Quagsire. She followed up with the move Protect to guard Quagsire just enough time to set up a Rain Dance.

A downpour instantly followed up that nearly entered other battlefields, but it was just shy of doing so.

"Dang, it!" Ren gritted his teeth in frustration. Both Wigglytuff and Marowak were pushed back by the protective shield.

Ren now had to worry about Forrestress, now that fire attacks wouldn't harm it so easily under these conditions.

Quagsire was ordered on the offense, and Diana was completely confident that she could win this battle. It used Scald, that's when a steaming hot beam of water emerged from Quagsire's mouth.

Marowak hurriedly dodged the attack, but under these weather conditions, this would get harder. The soil on the battlefield was dampening, making it hard for pokemon to move around due to it getting muddy.

Wigglytuff had it the hardest, it didn't even have legs but feet instead. Forretress wasn't affected because it simply levitated off of the ground naturally.

Diana kept Quagsire using Scald, she also ordered Forretress to use Power Trip. Both Wigglytuff and Marowak were busy dodging the torrent of steamy hot water.

Ren's expression darkened, there was simply nothing he could do. Weather moves like Rain Dance were hard to deal with. Diana's team was a complete counter pick against him; there was no hope.

Ren didn't give up, he had Marowak dig underground to avoid these attacks. Now, Wigglytuff was the only one out in the open.

However, it was too slow and was hit with a powerful Gyro ball. Wigglytuff cried out in pain, but it didn't take it down right away. Wigglytuff managed to get a flamethrower off on Forretress. This had dealt decent damage to it despite the rain weakening it.

Forretress's special defense was severely lacking and it was four times weak against fire.

Diana ordered her Forrestress to Gyro ball again, but faster this time in order to splash water around. This would grant Forretress a bit of defense against Wigglytuff's Flamethrower move, which it kept using against Forretress.

Right as Forretress was tearing through the flamethrower from spin so rapidly, the earth shook. Diana Order Forrestress to use Protect and issued a command for Quagsire to use Earthquake.

"What?" The referee's expression changed.

"Mr. Mimes', quickly put up and hardened the barriers around the battlefield!" The referee hurriedly said.

Quagsire's body vibrated before it jumped slightly, that's when a terrifying wave of destructive energy was unleashed. This wave of energy shook everything within the barrier, this wave resembled the earthquake energy from Pokemon Stadium 2!

Roy was shocked and stood up, and so was everyone else in the stance. This wave of power seemed inescapable, one could imagine if it was used in the wild.

Despite the Mr. Mime squad suppressing the earthquake energy wave, this didn't stop the uncontrollable tremors.

"Crap! My drink!"

"The shaking won't stop!"

People in the audience panicked a bit when they felt the tremors. However, they calmed down when the tremors began growing weaker.

Maro!

Wiggly!

Meanwhile, both Wigglytuff and Marowak—who had emerged from underground beforehand had been hit with this wave of power. Both from the opposing party were knocked back as the ground beneath exploded into a muddy mess.

At this time, the rain had stopped.

The referee was furious, who put a pokemon in the crate that knew the move earthquake?! This move was too much to the point where everyone wanted it banned from these matches.

Wigglytuff had fainted from the attack, but this attack really wouldn't have done much damage to her. What really caused her to weaken so badly was Forretress's Gyro ball dealing so much damage earlier.

Marowak was fine and stood up from the attack, seeming to have a ton of fight left in it. Marowak's natural defense was really high, but its health wasn't. However, Quagsire had pitiful attack power, so what could it really do in this area against Marowak?

It was different for super-effective special water attacks.

"Quagsire, use Scald and you, Forretress, I want you to use Automize!" Diana was all smiles, she could win this battle.

Ren clenched his fist, there was nothing he could do. At this point, he was just wasting time and energy, so, to save himself from the loss; he simply forfeited the match. The top 16 was good enough for him.

Diana jumped with joy, while her brother Troy and her Mom celebrated in the audience. Roy also smiled; this was a good first step. Diana was the first to finish her matches, but she could be said to have caught a lucky break due to RNG.

Troy, however, found the pokemon Forretress to be really cool. He took a mental note of this pokemon for when his journey started.

Immediately after, Diana was escorted to the back to choose a different team. She handed over her old team beforehand. Roy followed her to the back to help her choose, as he would for most of the tournament.

"It was a really good team, I actually push the guy so far back into a corner that he forfeited the match!" Diana smiled happily and held Roy's hands while jumping excitedly. Diana, for some reason, loved seeing that defeated expression on Ren's face.

Roy's lip twitched, was his sister some sort of sadist?

"Okay, let's pick your next set of pokemon." Roy didn't mention this and wanted to move forward.

"Okay, let's do this." Diana and Roy gazed over the crate of Poke balls.

Roy looked carefully, she still had some time because the other matches were still in session. Before he could pick any pokemon, three men came over; they appeared to be staff members.

"Just a second, we need to remove certain pokemon with certain moves. We'll only be a minute and we'll have them back here for you in no time." The man wore an all-black suit with black shades, resembling the men in black.

"Alright, we can wait." Diana nodded and said.

Roy and Diana simply talked about pokemon during this time. Particularly, what type of pokemon she and he found interesting. Roy already knew for sure that Diana wanted a Mareep on her team, that was a given.

As for other pokemon, it even sounded like she wanted a Hitmonchan. It was a pokemon she deemed better than even Machamp. After waiting for a short while, they came out with a fresh batch of Poke balls.

"Sorry for the delay, you may pick your duo team." The man in the lead wearing shades nodded.

"No problem, thank you." Diana nodded back. T

Afterward, they proceeded to pick the next duo of pokemon. Roy quickly picked 2 Poke balls and gave them to Diana before she went to confirm them.

The pokemon she ended with were both Sandslash and Pidgeot.
