92 B-rank Promotion 3: Vince's Doubts

Hey guys quick up date this chap will explain a few things and will continue until the end of the promotion exam.

Vince was currenting observing Austin who was intently answering the questions on this 10 page exam.

Going back 1 week to the end of the Pokémon games...

Vince received several reports when he came back from his mission outside of Asadia. It was was all pertaining to 1 single trainer who has been making waves in the past 2 years.

Asadia although small has a very strong and air tight information network. Since Austin began as a trainer from when he registered every single action was registered.

Vince through this information network received Austin's file. Due to the state of the world, Asadia had far stricter security measures as apposed to other city states due to the presence of Dark Corp, the strongest underworld organization dating back over a hundred years in history.

In the file many points have been marked in red as in questionable. These points caused the network to point Austin as a potential spy from the seven other city states or worse Dark Corp. The only issue is that Austin never once tried to contact anyone outside when on missions nor via network. The second strange point was all of Austin's movement improved the overall quality of life in the city state albeit only a little.

In normal cases the network would have dispatched an S-rank to capture and question him. Yet due to Austin's contributions and potential they decided to collect his data and have Vince decide when he comes back.

The first anomaly Vince noticed was that Austin lived in the orphanage for only a year no info about him before that. The issue is that his teachers were murdered in the wave that destroyed the electric plant and made a hole in the southern wall.

He remembers that incident like it was yesterday as he fought that day. Two legendries beyond master rank with an army of corrupted attacked killing many trainers and civilians. Thankfully the strength of their city-state was underestimated and his masters each had a legendary beyond the master rank with 2 beasts that were peak master and could mega evolve. There was also the city-states army of trainers and the battle was kept near the power plant near the southern wall.

Austin seemingly popped out of nowhere during that time. the second point was that his Tech-glasses have both night and heat vision, which he could have used to search the city-state at night and to avoid the guards. This was later dismissed by Muliere who got the rights to manufacture and sell them.

The third questionable point is his personality it was slightly cold and he barely spoke with anyone. he is constantly aware of his surroundings and is always calm regardless of the situation. During the ordeal he even survived at night alone, which is not something a novice can do. This is definitely spy material. Yet he is really close with the trainers of his year and liked by Chuck Norris.

The final issue was that he kept walking around Asadia asking about the technology and farming techniques. he even managed to get the outline of Asadia and asked detailed questions to the professional construction teams in the commercial district. This was a big red flag as he now had info about potential weaknesses in the structure of the city-state. In the wrong hands this can be deadly for everyone in Asadia.

Muliere and 4 other S-ranks voted the kid harmless while the other four said he should be questioned. Vince knowing that he won't be able to question Austin who was under the protection of 5 S-ranks decided to test him through the first and last test.

Back in the gym....

Austin was focused on answering the questions. He was the leader of the Pokémon fan club on earth for nothing. First set of questions was matching Pokémon with their types, next set the weaknesses and strengths of each type, third set of questions how to counter move of a Pokémon when you have a specific Pokémon: example a wild high- grade pidgeotto with a peak mid grade spheal if it attack with wing attack dodged your next move then used whirlwind and aerial ace.

Austin was answering these question faster than Vince anticipated. He squinted his eyes at Austin while thinking 'such knowledge could not be mastered in nearly 2 years he may be a spy I wonder who sent him.'

Austin oblivious to what's going on in his surroundings. he was entirely focused on the exam. He reached the scenarios questions and they were pretty difficult for average trainers. The first question placed Austin in the wilderness with 2 other trainers. the trainers were severely injured and they needed to find a place to rest. The sent of blood from the trainers will attract more wild Pokémon as time goes on and they had a few repels and Austin's Pokémon can still fight but not for long. The question asked Austin to survive.

The trick to this is that Austin can kill or abandon his teammates to live but depending on how he writes his answer this will show if he is a spy. Even if he found the correct solution, if it a perfect answer with no faults then he is a spy.

How would a perfect answer automatically rule him as a spy the s-ranks may ask Vince? Well this question and a couple of others were taken from the leagues data base of situations that have occurred and several perfect answers were written for each question. These questions would not be available for c-ranks and they are usually used to train b-ranks who want to become captains to be ready to assess different situations in team missions.

As Austin began to write his answer after thinking for a bit, Vince was shocked by the way he answered. Austin felt that many things were left out from the question. For example it said the wilderness, what type forest, marshland, how is the soil, humidity, and current climate. What time of year was it, are his teammates unconscious or can they move, how about their Pokémon etc.

So he began to write multiple answers for the same question depending on different conditions and they were brilliant in Vince's eyes. Austin took into account which herbs grew in what climate and estimated which type of Pokémon would be active during these weather conditions and location.

After that Austin answered the remaining scenarios and finished the entire exam in 2 hours. he lifted his head and welcomed Vince's gaze and said," This exam was hard. I think I passed though, what do you think Vince?"

Vince just smiled like before without saying anything his cigar was fully smoked and cup of coffee emptied and 1 hour ago. " Alright kid you pass, I liked your answers. They were pretty unique, even though the way you took care of your teammates was sloppy."

Austin shrugged and responded," It can't be helped, I don't have much knowledge in that area and situation. I mostly focused my information of Pokémon and areas they lived plants and berries that they eat and avoid in said area."

Vince didn't respond immediately, " Ok kid lets go to the underground arena they should have prepared everything."
