Masked Association

1st April 1992

Hoenn Region, Mauville City:

A young woman could be seen in the bar today, She was drinking down an entire can of soda.

Mauville city, One of the prideful cities of the Hoenn region with the Magnet train that connects itself to the Johto region was in... disarray.

"Another terrorist attack," The woman said to herself, "When will these unruly attacks stop?"

This woman was Laura Kernel, a person that just graduated from the Hoenn institution with a first class degree. People said she was destined to become a great Pokemon trainer as her knack for battling strategies were amazing and at some point, She did too... until she met the man that changed her life, Professor Birch, the forgetful researcher that always got himself in trouble.

She had met Professor Birch during her visit to Oldale Town to see her grandparents, She had seen the man in the tall grass researching about a Surskit, She had also wondered if he had any Pokemon on him.

He was then confronted by a Poochyena and had reached for his bag only to find out that he had dropped it on the ground a little bit far away from where he was.

Laura had helped him by using her Elekid to beat up the Hoenn region native and he thanked her profusely, inviting her to his lab.

From that day, Her passion changed and she decided to become a Pokemon researcher.

Mauville city had been facing recent kidnappings and terrorist attacks and people were advised to stay indoors in their houses so that they wouldn't be caught up in the fight but Laura Kernel, a girl that fancied herself a strong Pokemon trainer didn't adhere to those rules.

Her Elekid was towering LV. 19 now, It should be enough to deal with a bunch of small time crooks, That was what she thought.

As Laura chugged down on the soda, She felt her stomach churn, She was hungry. She retrieved her purse from her butt pocket and brought out a 500 Pokedollar bill.

The owner of this small restaurant walked up to her with a smile.

"Miss, Anything I can do for you?" He asked.

"I want the best noodles you have and also another canned soda like this one," Laura said.

"There will be no problem," He said with a bow.

The streets of Mauville city which used to bustle with activity and opportunity were now silent and bland, No sign of a person that wanted to sell his or her goods anymore, Everyone cared about their life more but that didn't apply to a powerful trainer like her, To her, She could go wherever she wanted and there was no one that would stop her.

She rubbed her stomach and let her eyes slink around, She was feeling hungry again. The terrorist problem had reached an all time high and they didn't attack houses... not yet anyway, Terrorists will always be terrorists and there was nothing they could say to refute that statement.

"Hey, Such a delicious girl is walking on the road alone, huh? Babe, Do you want me to protect you?" A brown haired youth who could be 2 years older than her asked.

"And why would I want somebody weaker than me to protect me? Stay on your lane," Laura snapped.

The boy stepped back and then retrieved a Pokeball.

"I'll take you by force then," He said and then sent out a Magby.

Of course it had to be one of those freshers that just left the Pokemon school, the ones that plan on using Pokemon for their selfish desires.

Laura sent out Elekid and the Pokemon let out an excited cry.

"Elekid, Start with Thunderbolt!" Laura ordered.

Elekid fired a powerful thunderbolt at Magby who was unable to dodge the attack, Laura's Pokedex showed that Magby was in LV. 15 so she knew it would be a very very easy battle. Perhaps even a one-sided beating.

"Use Flamethrower!" The boy cried out and Magby fired a powerful Flamethrower at Elekid only for the move to be negated by the use of Barrier.

"Volt Tackle!" Laura ordered.

Elekid glowed in a radiant golden lightning as she shot forward, eager to land an attack on Magby who was attempting to run away.

As Volt tackle connected, Both Pokemon were sent flying by recoil but Magby fainted. The boy returned his Magby and sighed.

"I lost..."

Before he could even say anything else, His head was instantly blown off his body completely by the use of a powerful fire.

Laura's eyes traced to the attacker and then she fell on her knees, On the right hand, The person had an Arcanine and on the left hand, The person had a Haunter. Both were very powerful Pokemon and they were at LV. 30, something she couldn't compete with at all.

"You seem like a strong trainer, Welcome to the Masked association," The masked man said, his mask similar to that of an Arcanine.
