EPISODE 41: Mother knows best!

The time is right, the moment is true, it is time to attain my second gym badge. After a four day walk in route seven, and after playing with Mr. Mime, I am now happy to say that I'm officially in Macropolis city! I am here to battle the Avery, one of the strongest gym leaders in the world. A woman who persuades business and technology, a woman who specializes in normal type Pokemon.

Normal type Pokemons, are strong against everything! Except for rock, steel and ghost type Pokemons. This pushes my limits, since Riolu, Scyther, and Zorua are all weak against normal type Pokemons.

Normal type Pokemons are known to have powerful move sets, they can learn fire, water, ghost, electric, type moves! An example of this is Herdier, it can learn fire fang even if its a normal type Pokemon. This is why some people fear normal type Pokemons, you never know what surprises are dwelling in them.

Due to excitement, me and Riolu woke up early this morning. We stayed in a small affordable inn, since a simple fact that is hard to learn, is that the time to save money is when you have some.

Macropolis city is indeed large, the city has a lot of tall towers, even taller than those of Norva city.

Numerous technology can be seen anywhere! Such as floating vehicles, around one foot above the ground, their buildings absorb shocks coming from the ground making them earthquake-proof.

"Riolu! Its time to win our second gym badge." I beamed with excitement. Riolu, a Pokemon who loves battling, smiled at me. His determination was so high I could see flames in his eye.

For breakfast, we ate delicious pancakes cooked by my best friend Camellia! "Hey Irys, where will my gym battle take place?" I queried as I gobbled up a pancake. "The gym battle, shall take place on the top floor of the Orb tower." Irys explained.

I got more excited! Our battle was going to take place on the Orb tower, the highest tower in this city. The orb tower has a large circular dome on top of it, maybe that's where my gym battle will take place.

"I'm all set and ready to go!" I exclaimed as I was about to leave our room, but Zhery pulled my jacket and teased me again, like all the time. "In a rush? Why don't you help out with the dishes before going!"

"Alright fine, I'll help." I frowned. While washing dishes, my mind was filled with different strategies, but I guess I over imagined. "Hey Kalem! Don't waste the water!" Zhery badgered.

"Ah!? Sorry... I was daydreaming again." I explained while Glade facepalmed. "Those two sure are rivals." Camellia teased.

The dishes are done and its time to move! "Now I'm done, we can go!" I started to feel excitement again, but as usual, Zhery pulled my jacket again just before I was about to open the door. "Where do you think you're going? Make your bed! All the pillows are scattered." Zhery ordered.

"Jeez, do you have to shout at me? Are you my mother or somethin'?" I teased. "Ha haha! Very funny, less talking! More working!" Zhery ordered.

I followed what Zhery ordered and made my bed and hopefully she'll allow me to go. "I'm done with everything, now can we go now?" I begged. "Yup everyone is done now!" Camellia smiled. Finally, it was time to move on as we surrendered our keys to the cashier. It was easy to find the orb tower, since all we had to do is to find the tallest tower.

"Amazing! This tower is marvelous!" Glade was in awe as we walked towards the door of the Orb tower. As we entered we saw a young girl crying and running outside the tower, she was carrying a Pokemon. "Huh? What's up with her?" Zhery queried. The cashier went to us and explained. "That girl just lost her gym challenge."

"She lost? That's why she's crying." I concluded as my heart began to pump harder. I was getting anxious just like in my island challenge. "We can do this Kalem! With the right strategy and mind, we are unstoppable!" Riolu comforted. Then a woman came down the elevator, she was wearing a black dress just like those of a businesswoman. She also had a victorian hat with a red scarf along her neck. "Excuse me, but who's that?" Zhery queried. "That's no other than Ms. Avery, the gym leader of Macropolis city." The cashier explained.

"Ah! Really!? I came here to challenge her!" I beamed. I rushed towards Ms. Avery and asked her to accept her challenge.

"Please Ms. Avery, please accept my challenge," I begged. "Sorry but, I just had a gym challenge today, I have other business to take care of as well. My Pokemons are very tired too, so... I'll accept your gym battle tomorrow." Avery deadpanned with her British accent.

"Aww, but please..." I pleaded. "Sorry, I have meetings to attend to, while I'm gone, I suggest that you visit the Pokemon Safari Zone," Avery advised. "The Pokemon Safari Zone?" Zhery queried. "Yes, Safari Zones, are special preserves for rare wild Pokemon, found in several regions just like this region," Avery explained.

And my friends accepted the suggestion and we went to the northern part of the city, the place where the safari zone is located. "Aww, I wanted to battle the gym so badly, now I have to wait for another day?" I said sadly and solemnly. "That's alright Kalem, at least we get to see the safari zone together." Camellia comforted. "Yeah you're right, its time to take a break in battling." I agreed as we walked to the Safari Zone.

"Together eigh?" Zhery teased as she waggled her eyebrows. "Umm, he he he." Camellia smiled and blushed slightly. We entered the Pokemon Safari Zone, and we had to pay a mind whopping 500 hundred Pokedollars! Good thing I have my mother's credit card.

"Alright, you have an hour to explore and catch rare Pokemons with these safari balls." The cashier explained. "Wait, we can catch Pokemon?" I queried. "Yup! Pokemons in the safari zone are a lot rarer than those Pokemons found in the bushes." the cashier explained. The four of burst with excitement as we entered the safari zone.

The safari zone had four areas, Area 1A, consists of lush green fields teeming with grass and bug type Pokemon. Area 2B, has a rocky terrain suitable for rock type Pokemon. Area 3C had a desert terrain suitable just for ground type Pokemons. Area 4D had a volcanic terrain filled with fire type Pokemons. Other Pokemon types can be found in either are 1A or area 2B. It was fun to look around the wild Pokemons lurking in different areas.

There were Oddishes, [Oddish! The weed Pokemon! A grass and poison type! During the daytime, ODDISH buries itself in the soil to absorb nutrients from the ground using its entire body. The more fertile the soil, the glossier its leaves become.] There were also Gravelers in area 2B, [Graveler! The rock Pokemon! A rock and Ground-type Pokemon. Rocks are GRAVELER's favorite food. This POKéMON will climb a mountain from the base to the summit, crunchingly feasting on rocks all the while. Upon reaching the peak, it rolls back down to the bottom.] In 3C, we saw Hippowdons! [Hippowdons! The heavyweight Pokemon! A good type! It brandishes its gaping mouth in a display of fearsome strength. It raises vast quantities of sand while attacking] There were also Magmars in 4D,[Magmar! The spitfire Pokemon! A fire type! In battle, Magmar blows out intensely hot flames from all over its body to intimidate its opponent. This Pokémon's fiery bursts create heat waves that ignite grass and trees in its surroundings.]

There were also resting houses along the safari zone. The resting house serves as a place to relax after a long perspiring walk. "My legs are so tired from all those walking!" I complained as we sat down. "You don't exercise too much, that's why!" Zhery teased. I was not able to catch any Pokemon since they all don't like me. The oddishes poisoned me, the Gravelers smacked me, The Hippowdons blew sand at me, and the magmars spewed fire at me.

Then, we heard someone talking about a super strong Pokemon. "I'm telling the truth! The Pokemon was so huge and arrogant! Its attack was so powerful as well. It kept on raging at my Pokemon, anthe other wild Pokemons, the Pokemon seemed angry." One of the men said as he took a sip. "Oh I saw that Pokemon, it was huge indeed! I forgot what it was, I think it was Kangster... Oh! Maybe Kangro?" The second man guessed.

"Hey guys, did you hear that?" I queried as the two men left the resting house. "Yeah! There's a rare and strong Pokemon." Glade agreed. "But where could that rare and strong Pokemon be?" Zhery wondered. "Based on they're info, it seems like the Pokemon belongs to area 2B." Camellia hunched.

We went on to check the Pokemon in area 2B, a terrain full of rocky Pokemons.

:KANG!!!! The Pokemon shouted. "Look! There's the Pokemon, it's trying to push that Geodude off the cliff!" Glade pointed. "What Pokemon is that anyways?" Camellia queried.

"Leade the data to me! [Kangaskhan! A normal type Pokemon! If you come across a young KANGASKHAN playing by itself, you must never disturb it or attempt to catch it. The baby POKéMON's parent is sure to be in the area, and it will become violently enraged at you.]" Irys the Pokedex entered.

"So that's a Kangaskhan!" Zhery concluded. "Alright Riolu! Save Kangaskhan by using force palm!" I ordered. Riolu was able to hit Kangaskhan! Then Kangaskhan turned her attention to us. "Now we made it more angry!" Zhery shouted."But that question is, why is it angry?" Glade query.

"No matter what! We must calm it down!" I suggested.

:KANGA!!! The Pokemon started to gather up energy in his mouth, the energy became a blue sphere and was released like a thunder. The move was called Ice beam, it starts as a sphere gathered in a mouth then released in forms of cold thunder. Ice beam can freeze your opponent's Pokemon!

"Riolu, dodge the ice beam then use quick attack!"

Kangaskhan was pushed backward, but it still stood strong and angry.

:KANGASKHAN!!! The Pokemon shouted in rage as it used head crash! A move just like headbutt and Zen headbutt but three times more powerful.

Camellia was frozen in fear as the Pokemon rushed in rage. "Camellia watch out!" I shouted as I pushed Camellia to the side. "Are you alright Camellia?" I queried. "I'm... I'm fine" Camellia answered as she stood up and blushed. Her eyes stared at me in amusement. "Riolu, use metal claw!" I ordered.

"The attack was intercepted with Kangaskhan's thunder punch. A punch with a veil of electricity surrounding it. It can paralyze a Pokemon.

"Hey Camellia stop staring at Kalem and snap out of it!" Zhery ordered. "Huh!? Oh right, I forgot hee hee." Camellia giggled. "Why would Kangaskhan be angry!?" Glade queried.

"I... I notice something. Look at Kangaskhan!" Camellia pointed. "Yeah we know Camellia! Kangaskhan is very angry!" Zhery teased. "No! look at her pouch! The baby is gone." Camellia pointed. "Oh right! Kangaskhan must be angry because her baby is missing!" Zhery hunched.

"Kalem! Don't attack Kangaskhan, it's trying to find her baby!" Glade shouted. "Her baby? Oh right, her pouch is missing a cute little Kangaskhan!" I started to notice. "Hey Kangaskhan, we didn't steal your baby." Zhery tried to calm the raging beast.

"We can help you if you want," Zhery added. Suddenly Kangaskhan stopped attacking. She went closer to Zhery. "We... We... Can help find your baby." Zhery said in fear.

:KANG? The Pokemon tilted its head.

"Yeah, we'll help you find baby Kangaskhan," Glade added.

The search was on to find Kangaskhan's baby. The four of us separated. Each of us will visit one area each and find the lost baby. If one of us found the baby, all we have to do is to call each using the Xtransiever. A device used to call someone, or talk to someone.

"Riolu, tell me if you see any mini Kangaskhans," I ordered as Riolu searched the grass.

Kalem <Xtransiever rings> Zhery

"Kalem, did you find any baby Kangaskhans in area 1A?" Zhery questioned.

"No not at all, me and Riolu are still on the look. About you Zhery, any luck?" I explained briefly.

"No luck at all, me and Kangaskhan looked everywhere," Zhery said sadly.

"I'll call you back if I see a baby Kangaskhan."

"Alright Kalem... I'll keep on searching with Kangaskhan."

"Hey Kalem, have you seen any Kangaskhan?"

"No luck at all, me and Riolu are still looking."

"Oh, I haven't seen any Kangaskhan here too."

"I'll just call when I see a Kangaskhan here in 1A."

"Alright Kalem, take care... And be careful." Camellia smiled as the Xtransiever match call ended.

Me and Riolu searched for the baby Kangaskhan until we found it playing with a Larvitar. I rushed to Kangaskhan right away.

"Hey Kangaskhan, you must return home, your mother is worried sick!" I exaggerated. Kangaskhan just looked at me and Riolu and continued to play with Larvitar.

"Kangaskhan, I know you want to play but please return home," I begged as Kangaskhan looked at me and continued to play.

I tried to carry Kangaskhan, but it bit my finger. "Seriously Kangaskhan! Please listen." I begged. Kangaskhan stuck out his tongue cutely.

"You think your cuteness can stop me?" I uttered.

*Kangaskhan stuck out his tongue cutely with its wobbling adorable eyes.*

"Alright fine you're cute! But can you go back to your mother now?" I queried. Kangaskhan smiled back and asked for a cuddle.

"If I cuddle you will you go back to your mother?" I bargained as Kangaskhan smiled and agreed as he nodded his head. I cuddled Kangaskhan, he feels soft and smooth.

"Alright, I'll bring you back to your mother," I said softly. I guessed Kangaskhan just wanted a cute little cuddle that fits his adorable face.

I called my other friends and told them about the news, we met each other at area 2B, where Kangaskhan and Zhery were. When Kangaskhan saw her baby, she rushed to it, grabbed it from my grip and hugged the baby really tight.

The mother united with her son, it was such a spectacular thing to watch. It reminds me of my parents when they used to hug me. "Kalem, your crying?" Riolu noticed. "Nah, I just remembered mom and dad... That's all." I explained as the sun continued to set.

"BYE BABY KANGASKHAN! BYE KANGASKHAN!" we waved goodbye as Kangaskhan put her son on her pouch. Kangaskhan waved back as we left the area. The sun was about to set and the moon was about rising as the day turned old. "Umm, Kalem... I wanted to thank you for saving me." Camellia smiled as her cheeks began to glow red.

"Its ok Camellia, a friend in need is a friend indeed!" I smiled and quoted back. "Looks like someone is in love?" Zhery teased as Camellia smiled back.

Its been fun looking around the safari zone, huge fields! Rocky terrains! Man-made deserts! I wasn't able to catch a Pokemon but surely one day I will. "So Kalem, tomorrow is your gym battle, are you ready?" Glade asked. "Yeah, me and my Pokemon will light up like the morning flower!" I said with determination as the stars rise and as the journey continues.
