108 It's not for my sake, it's for everyone else
(Long chapter since I don't want to drag out this side story for another chapter)
Ash walked out to whatever room he was given, Meowth was snuggling in his scarf. Most of the other people decided to stay in the room or look around at what they had access to.
Ash finally found the temporary rooms and just as he was about to go into his he heard someone, "Yooo, Bro wait up."
Looking behind him he saw a boy who looked to be a year older than him running towards him with his arm up, he had green hair and blue eyes wearing a black jacket with a white undershirt.
"Bro, it's nice to meet you, since we are going to be on the same team I figured we should introduce ourselves, I'm Jay." the boy said as he pointed his thumb at his chest.
Ash still hadn't decided what personality to give this character so he went with old reliable, "Everyone calls me D."
"Ohh, nicknames ok ok call me J, wait that sounds similar to my name already, shoot well nevermind, great to meet you!" Jay said overenthusiastically
Then he stopped himself and remembered something, "That reminds me, we both got Meowth, isn't that cool! But I wanted to ask how you get yours to be so nice to you, mine just ignores me."
Ash shrugged, "Just feed them, that will probably do it, maybe pat their head or give them a coin to play with." Meowth nodded along in approval.
"Wow it's that easy, amazing you must be some kinda super prodigy, hey when we finish this let's team up, oh, and let's try to battle each other in the finals!"
As Jay was bombarding Ash with more stuff, he saw one more person walk into the rooms, a girl with white hair and silver eyes.
She just walked in and noticed them but decided to ignore them and walked into her room before Jay could get to her.
"Aww man, I wanted to meet someone else, well I guess you can't do much about it, anyway you said I should feed my Meowth, well then I'll go now, thanks for the advice let's talk again!" Jay said as he ran off.
Ash sighed and went into his room, it was a simple room, with a bed and a desk, on the desk was some food and a note, this body didn't need to eat so he just gave it all to Meowth, who purred in happiness.
He went ahead and grabbed his Pokedex from his pocket space and checked her.

Ash raised his eyebrow, 'the heck, Feline Prowess, that is new to me, but from what this says it's just Special Huge power, which is pretty good, means she can use special moves just as well.'
Ash nodded in satisfaction wondering if this was just her thing or if all Meowths had it, maybe cat Pokemon in general had it, questions for later.
Ash put his Pokedex back in his 'pocket' and hopped onto the bed to rest for tomorrow.
But before he did he looked at the note, which just said, 'Grunt 5'

{The next day}
Back at the main room Owari and Sayoko were waiting, only about half of the participants were still there and Owari looked annoyed.
When a total of 8 participants arrived Owari stepped up, "Well I guess congratulations are in order, you all don't suck, the other 8 couldn't Tame their Pokemon, so that disqualified them, so congratulations you are all now grunts."
Most People celebrated and Ash could see Jay jumping in joy with his Meowth.
But it was short lived when Owari stomped his foot, "Why are you celebrating this isn't over, you may all be grunts but that doesn't mean you will be of the same rank, so we will continue this tournament, the top 3 will receive a prize of sorts, so don't slack off unless you want to remain the worthless Grunts you are."
The now Grunts remained silent so Sayoko took over, "Now, now, don't be so mean to them, can't you see you're scaring them."
Owari clicked his tongue hearing Sayoko make fun of him but he did nothing.
"Now we will begin the battles, they have been preselected so go out and fight, not much to it, chop chop."
A board with Grunts 1-8 on it, he was against Grunt 7 so he went to the respective field while Jay was paired with Grunt 4.
When Ash got to his place his opponent was a bearded man who looked about 25, they didn't talk, and when a countdown began he threw out his Pokemon, a Rattata.
Overall the battle was nothing, the trainer he battled was a noob and didn't even hit Meowth once. So the battle was over relatively fast.
So Ash and Meowth walked out leaving the man to sulk, when he got back he noticed he wasn't the first to arrive, standing and waiting was the girl with white hair from before.
They didn't talk, they just exchanged glances and left it at that, eventually, everyone arrived back and Jay won his match, and the next round was announced.
Ash would be battling Grunt 2 while Jay would be fighting the white-haired girl who was put as Grunt 1.
"Yo, bro wish me luck," Jay said as he poked Ash with his elbow playfully, "I hope I get to see you in the finals."
"Yeah, I guess, good luck," Ash said as they parted ways.
Ash's battle was once again boring, he was against a girl with a Spearow and he still took no damage, so he walked back and saw that Jay's battle was still going on.
The girl had an Ekans who was constricting Jay's Meowth.
"No Ruddy! Try to break free." Jay tried to command.
"Futile, Ekans finish this, Slam"
Ekans unwrapped her tail and used the bottom part to latch onto Meowth's leg, then she used that momentum to slam the cat into the ground, knocking him out.
With that the girl retired her snake and walked out, meanwhile, Jay grabbed his Meowth and ran to the healing machine that was probably stolen from the Joy's.
Eventually, Owari and Sayoko stepped back up, "Well it's time for the final battles, the battle for first and second place, and the second battle to see who will be crowned third, how unfortunate," Sayoko said.
"We don't have to waste our breaths, you know who you are so get to it so we can get this over with," Owari said as he walked off.
Jay got Meowth healed up and walked up to Ash, "It's a shame we won't get to fight huh, well do me a favor and avenge me, after all, I can promise you I'll still get third." Jay said as he held his fist out for a fist bump.
Ash nodded, "I'll hold you to that then, good luck, and don't lose this time." Ash said as he returned the fist bump.

{POV change}
'My name is Enid, that's all anyone needs to know, but then again that's all they should know, I am above these side characters, I am the hero of this story.'
Enid was born in Hoenn and growing up she spent her days playing with her pet Natu, not Pokemon, pet.
She would play with the other kids but spent her time with Natu until the day she turned 8. On that day she started being able to hear people when they weren't talking, she could move things without touching them, and most importantly she could speak to Pokemon.
Most people would stay calm or keep things a secret, but unfortunately, the days Enid spent alone she spent reading translated novels, so she immediately believed herself to be the chosen one.
She stayed away from other children believing she was above them, and when she turned 11 she decided to leave Hoenn with her Natu, she decided to join Team Rocket as a stepping stone until she became powerful enough.
So far everything has been boring, none of these side characters have made her put in any effort, and she believes the next battle will be the same.
(A/N so let me clarify one thing, She is not a Psychic, she just thinks she is.)

{Back to regular}
Ash was standing on his side and the girl was standing on the other. Their Pokemon were already out and ready, they just waited for the announcer to start them.
"3,2,1, Begin."
"Ekans grab that cat and Poison Sting!"
"Meowth stop them with Fake Out then Hone Claws."
Ekans started slithering forward aiming to grab, Meowth jumped in front of the snake surprising it, making her slow down, meanwhile, Meowth's paws glowed white as she clapped and the sound hurt Ekans. Then Meowth's claws started getting sharper.
"Now Fury Swipes"
As Ekans was trying to concentrate Meowth's claws turned white and extended, then she ran forward and started slashing at the snake 4 times before Ekans snapped out of it and tried slapping Meowth's with her tail, forcing Meowth to jump back.
The girl still looked calm as she continued, "Ekans don't let that cat treat you like that, Sucker Punch."
Ekans immediately vanished from sight and appeared around Meowth as she started spinning around Meowth until she stopped and slapped Meowth in the back of the head.
"Now capitalize with Wrap"
"Meowth dodge then scratch"
Ekans tried to get her tail around the small cat as she was still getting back up, but Meowth pushed herself up and did a backflip, using her claws to slash into Ekans along the way landing safely behind.
The girl started looking surprised, 'This shouldn't be happening' she mumbled before continuing, "Ekans Glare"
"Counter with Pay Day into Fury Swipes"
Ekans' eyes glowed yellow and tried to stare into Meowth's eyes, but Meowth threw a coin at Ekans head forcing her head to go down, then Meowth ran forward again and slashed into the snake.
"Now let's end this Scratch at the neck"
"Ekans stop her, Poison Sting!"
The two Pokemon leaped at each other and exchanged the final interaction, when they both landed on the other side, Meowth held her arm which had been poisoned, but Ekans fell over unconscious.
The announcer announced his victory and he walked back as the girl stood there shocked.
As Ash got back to the main room Jay was waiting for him, "Yo bro, I see we both won!"
"I guess we did, where is everybody though."
"Oh they were taken to get their stuff, they told me the three of us should stay here, why don't ask me, I'm still trying to figure that out myself."
The girl he battled walked in seemingly thinking of something since she ignored the only other people in the room.
Jay tried to get close to her but she didn't even answer him, Ash just sat down in the corner and fed Meowth a Pecha Berry for the poison.
Eventually, Owari and Sayoko walked back into the room.
"Well congratulations are in order," Sayoko said, clapping her hands, "You all are the top 3, so it is time for your reward!"
Owari rolled his eyes, "Since you all won you will be promoted to the rank of Spy, this rank is kept secret even amongst grunts, but you're just above Grunts and below Admins."
(A/N BTW this is not made up the rank of Spy is a thing, we just don't have much info on it.)
"You know both me and Mister Grumpy Pants were both at that rank, well he still is but I gained the record for youngest Admin," Sayoko said, raising her nose into the air.
Jay got excited, "Yo, that means we get a special rank, let's go!"
The girl, who is Enid, finally snapped out of her trance and mumbled to herself, 'Of course, it is only natural that I as the main character should get a higher rank.'
"Well, it's time for you all to get your ID, also if you have a request for a uniform then just tell us and we'll get it done for you!" Sayoko said, pulling out a camera.
"Right, I'm Jay, and can you give me a jacket and a cool hat, or maybe not I like my hair, but then again Green stands out a bit."
Enid pulled out a piece of paper and handed it over, "I'm Enid and everything I want is on this."
Then everyone turned to Ash and looked expectantly.
"Can I request something, for my face not to be on my ID?"
Everyone looked surprised at the request, "Well it's not impossible it's more of a formality but can you tell us why."
"It's not for my sake, it's for everyone else," Ash said as he took off the scarf and revealed his 'face'.
His face looked like the flesh had been ripped off of it and his entire mouth was shown, (Basically imagen Jack Hanma after Pickle)
Everyone stared shocked at his face as he put the scarf back on, "I am from Unova and joined the military as a medic, but an accident occurred, the gunpowder ignited leaving me like this."
"And the worst part, because of the accident I was discharged, and since there wasn't damage to the eyes, arms, or Brain, they didn't even compensate me, so they left me like this."
After a moment of silence, Owari spoke up, "So then why did you join Team Rocket?" with much less venom in his voice this time.
"There is a surgery so I can get my face repaired, but it's expensive, and look at me you think anyone would hire me like this, this word is filled with a monastery of lies, when you're useful you mean the world, when you're not you get discarded."
Sayoko put away the camera, "Well then due to your circumstances I won't continue, but what is your name for your ID."
"Just call me D. I still have a family even though they also abandoned me, but we are still bound by blood," Ash said as he pulled out a pencil and a sticky note, then wrote something and handed it over as well.
"Ok then, I'll get everything ready, Owari will take it from here," Sayoko said as she walked out.
Owari cleared his throat and continued talking, "So, with your rank, you will be allowed to create your own missions as long as you announce it to an Admin, you also get the authority to ignore missions and orders from Admins but that does not apply to executives or the Boss himself." He said the last part more sternly than the rest.
"Now let me explain the Credit system, since you all placed in the top 3 you will be given some credits, these credits can be used at our facilities, we have a basic shop for items, a vehicle shop, a Pokemon shop, and an egg shop, of course, you can just exchange them for money."
"You can get Credits for completing missions and selling things to the shops, you can also steal someone's ID and take their points with a 10% deduction. In order from 1st to 3rd you will receive 5,000, 3,000, and 2,000. You will also gain information about the Blackmarket."
The explanation lasted about 5 minutes, and when he finished Sayoko walked back holding 3 cards, "Ok everything is ready, your new room is on them, and your order for your uniform is being processed."
Sayoko pulled on her own uniform, "It will take a while since these are made from a special material that is cold and heatproof, along with nearly indestructible."
Everyone nodded and eventually, they all went their separate ways, Ash went to take a glance at the shop, standing at the counter was a man holding a book, when he noticed Ash he sighed and put it down.
"Well I assume you're a rookie who hasn't gotten your uniform yet, but I'm forced to still help you so what do you want?"
"Do you have mints or Ability capsules?" Ash asked.
The man raised his eyebrow, "I don't know how you know about them, but we have some, we have a lot of Ability capsules, but as for mints we do have them we just stole the supply that Celadon was supposed to get, but we are in a shortage so their expensive."
"Can you tell me how much?"
"Do you have credits," he asked to which Ash nodded.
"Alright we have 2 of each and since we don't have that many we are 4k each."
Ash rubbed his chin and pulled out his ID and one of the random ones he had, "What about this can you add this to mine."
The man raised his brow and shook his head, "Bad luck getting attacked on your first day here, well yeah I can help you with that, tell you what since it's your first I'll wave the 10%."
He took both and did the transfer process, "Wow you weren't kidding I guess you're the winner, with the points from this guy you are at 8,000."
"Ok before anything, could I sell mints if I can get my hands on them," Ash asked to which the man just nodded.
"And you won't ask questions," to which he also nodded
Ash nodded and grabbed the Mild and Hasty specifically.
Ash thanked the man and left for his new room, where he went ahead and started his plan. He planted the Mints to start growing them in his Dimension and sell them back.
After he was done he laid on the bed with Meowth and thought to himself, 'Now the fun begins, I will tear this place down and build it back up,' he smiled but was stopped when Meowth pawed his face.
(Ok so yeah, this is a side story thing, whenever some filler happiness that does not affect the plot in any way it will go back to this side. And even though this is a side story, important things will happen.)
(Also which nature do you think is the worst? I think any -defense is bad.)
