Chapter 2.

Recalling my first day in the hospital I had a wry smile on my face.

I still couldn't believe that I had been reincarnated to the world of pokemon.

Being a huge fan of pokemon in my previous life, I was quite excited to explore this world, but soon I came to realize that the pokemon world shown in the anime and video games was very different than the reality in which I currently a part of.

The first indication of this was when my mother was feeding me Krabby soup, which supposedly is good for one's health. I was quite surprised that people here consumed pokemon, but after thinking about it carefully, it seemed to make a lot of sense. This world was different from the one I knew about. During battles in the wild, the pokemon which gets knocked out is most likely destined to become food for the winner.

Realizing this issue helped me to understand one fact, that this world was one in which only the strong survive. All the fun and games that I had seen in my previous life were not applicable here. There are people that hunt and steal rare pokemon for food, money and treat them harshly for their own benefit. Pokemon trainers that have no backings were easy prey for such people. Thinking about all this made me feel that I was very fortunate to have a strong backing.

While I was thinking about all this information, I did not realize the serious expression I was showing, was very deadly for my mother.

"Aah, look how cute my Alex is."

My mom said as she pulled my cheeks.

"Mooom stoppp, I'm not a kid anymore."

I swatted my mom's hands that were pulling on my cheeks. Even though I looked 5, I was still a 20 year old in my previous life. Such actions are extremely embarrassing.

"Nooo, my Alex has grown up and doesn't need his mother anymore."

She replied, her eyes showing how betrayed she felt, almost on the verge of spilling tears.

My father chuckled as he looked at both of our behavior.

"What were you thinking about son? is anything bothering you?"

"Now that I have been cured, I was wondering about what I want to do in the future."

Both my parents looked at each other and then smiled at me.

"Whatever you wish to do in the future son, the Night family will give you our full support."

My father told me, while my mother nodded at his words with a smile. Their words made me feel quite warm, as anyone would be blessed to have such wonderful parents. His words made me think about our family.

According to my memory, the Night family was an ancient family, originating from the Kalos region. It had a rich heritage and influence in the Kalos region. Like the Charific Valley of the Jhoto region which was famous for its Charizards and the Village of Dragons in the Unova region which is famous for its dragon-type pokemon, the Night family is famous for its dark-type pokemon.

The Night family shares a special bond with Dark-types and has a great affinity for training them. According to our family archives, our ancestors were blessed personally by the legendary pokemon Yveltal. Which, according to me, is incredibly badass.

All this information made me incredibly excited, as dark types were my favorite pokemon in my previous world. They had a few type disadvantages and could learn a variety of moves, making them very versatile during pokemon battles.

Currently, the Night family consists only of my parents, myself, and my aunt, who is my father's younger sister. My dad had succeeded as the head of the family after the death of my grandparents. He was assisted by my mother and my aunt in the running of our family.

My mother, on the other hand, was a trainer from the Village of Dragons in Unova. Mom and dad had met during their travels as trainers and had fallen in love with each other.

I was brought out of my dreamland by the flight announcement about our arrival at Shalour City. I looked outside to see a bright sky, with pokemon such as Pidgeys and Fletchlings flying around. There were many fields, where several Flabebe and Scatterbug, as well as the occasional Skiddo, could be seen. As our plane landed and came to a stop, I noticed a car waiting for us a little distance away from the runway.

"Come, Alex, let's go meet your aunt."

I nodded at my father's world and followed my parents out of the airplane.

Getting closer, I could see my aunt Emilia more clearly. She had shoulder-length hair, the same color as my dad, and dimples on her face that indicated that she is a very cheerful person. With her chocolate brown eyes that had a twinkle in them as we approached her, one can easily notice that she has a mischievous personality.

"You look like you got better kiddo."

"Yes aunt Emi, I feel better too."

I replied as I gave her a quick hug.

"That's good. Now your father can't make any excuses for skipping his work."

"I was not skipping work Emilia, I was looking after my son."

Dad replied while shaking his head.

"Humph, as if I don't remember someone running away, dumping all his work on his younger sister."

Aunt Emilia replied, pouting.

"I'm sorry Emilia ill make sure he completes all his duties as the head of the family from now on."

Said my mom apologetically as she gave aunt a hug.

"Speaking of work, how was everything while we were gone?"

"Everything was in capable hands, the way you left it."

Replied my aunt to Dad's question.

"I don't remember leaving my work to anyone with capable hands, tell me Emi, did you pass on your duties to someone else?"

Dad retorted against aunt Emilia with a grin on his face.

"Youuuu!!!"

I got to admit, this round goes to dad. As I secretly gave dad a thumbs up, mom interrupted their bickering by pulling them apart.

"Come let's go home instead of standing and arguing here all day long."

Said my mother, tired of the banter between the siblings.

"All right."

Dad and aunt agreed on a temporary truce as we made our way to the car waiting for us. After all of us were seated, dad asked Arthur to drive us home. As we were on our way exchanging small talk, my aunt asked me a question.

"Hey Alex, now that you are fine what are your plans for the future?"

"I don't know yet aunt, but I wish to explore the world. The time I was sick made me realize I have yet to see a lot in life, and now I want to travel the world and see for myself what all I have been missing."

"That sounds like a great thing to do."

Said my aunt as she patted my arm.

"No need to worry about it. There is a lot of time for you to decide what you want to do in the future."

I nodded at my Mom's words. Even though I wanted to become a pokemon trainer, I felt that I needed to gather more knowledge about this world before deciding my future path.

Thinking about becoming a pokemon trainer reminded me of all the pokemon I could see in our family ranches. I could barely control my enthusiasm thinking about visiting all those pokemon.

"Hey dad, can I go see the pokemon that we breed in our family today?"

I asked with excitement visible in my eyes. My father seeing my obvious excitement smiled before giving me a thumbs up for visiting the ranch. The rest of our ride back home was rather silent as all of us couldn't wait to return and relax after spending a long time away from Kalos.

We didn't have to wait long before arriving at our destination on the outskirts of Shalour City.

The Night Mansion.
