Chapter 8: Exploration (1)

[Shiroe POV]

"Hahaha... I did it!"

I laughed in success as I stared at the newly created pokéball in my hands.

It took a grueling 20 minutes to study through the manual instruction and even conduct trial and error.

And another 20 minutes to scavenge for some specific materials needed to make the pokéballs.

But all of it was worth it as I could now make pokéballs. All I had to do was follow the recipe, and bada bing, bada boom, a pokéball was made.

As for the potion... well, it was easy since I just had to mix a few herbs and there, and bam, a potion.

"Hah..."

After storing the pokéball in my system bag, I took out a map of the Hisui region inside my satchel and reviewed it.

"Let's see..."

It says here, that I need to go around the Coronet Highland, then pass through the Ancient Retreat to reach the Cobalt Coastland.

Well, I'll be damned... that's a lot of walking.

This mission might actually take me a few weeks just to complete as I have to capture and research Pokemons at the same time.

"Ugh..."

Of course, I don't have to capture them but where's the fun in that?

Plus, it'll be more beneficial for me this way since I get to battle which equals to Honedge leveling up and becoming stronger.

"Yosh.... let's go, Honedge! Before it gets late"

- Shing! Shing!

...

4 days and a half... that's how long it took for me to scour the entirety of the Obsidian Fieldlands before reaching Coronet Highland.

Of course, there's always a chance that I've missed a few spots or places because of how well-hidden they are.

But it's fine, I'm not looking to explore because I had to anyway.

I'm doing this because I want to...

"Umu"

Even though I currently have an ongoing mission to finish but there's no way I would pass the chance to not explore.

I mean, what's the point of an adventure if all I do is work?

Plus, I did say that I'll come back to Obsidian Fieldlands anyway.

Oh, right... here's something I've found out recently, this region is so much bigger than I thought.

"Hah..."

Heck, the game did me quite dirty since it made me believe that the Hisui at this time wasn't that large of a size.

Seeing how easy it was to travel to each area of the region, I assumed that it would be easy in reality as well.

I mean, it took me less than a week just to explore the entirety of the Obsidian Fieldlands.

And in the game, you would only need an hour or two to run around all over the area.

Though, I know this one was my fault for treating this world like it was in the game when it's not.

Reality and fiction are not the same after all...

Even if a fiction or fantasy became real, there will still be subtle differences compared to what it was when it was still a fiction or in this case, a game.

Even if the game depicted the Hisui as a region, small enough that you could explore the entirety of an area in a matter of hour or so.

But in truth, it's grueling hours or days of nonstop walking.

"Hm"

It really goes to show how lucky I was that I arrived not too far away from the village and even met that old man to told me about the village.

And if none of that ever happened, well... I don't what my fate would have been today.

It could be good but it could also be very bad...

Regardless, it's not like there wasn't any reward for my hard work since my Honedge had leveled up quite a bit during the exploration.

"Come here, Honedge"

- Shing~

Seeing Honedge in front of me, I noticed that he had grown a few inches in length and his blade seemed sharper as well.

And this made me smile and feel proud of both myself and my Honedge as I patted his handle.

[Ding!]

"Hmm..."

Although, my Honedge had only leveled up 5 times during the exploration.

In my opinion, that in itself is already a lot since It's rare for me to meet a Pokemon with almost the same level as my Honedge.

Either I come across a way too high-level Pokemon that I can't even fight or a Pokemon way too low-level that there's not even a point in fighting it.

Unfortunately, my system doesn't work the same as the game where all you need to do is capture Pokemons and you'll immediately gain experience points.

I mean, if it were to work like that, then my Honedge would already have enough exp to evolve right now.

Oh well, that's life ain't it...

And speaking about capturing, I've actually caught a few ones in the Obsidian Fieldlands.

Which is specifically 69 Pokemons and I categorized each of them into two groups — One is for the Survey Corps Mission and the other is for mine alone.

"Heh..."

===== [ • ] =====

Exactly 63 wild Pokemons captured to contribute to the Pokedex and the Galaxy Expedition team.

"Yosh!"

I'm sure with this, they'll be utterly shocked and impressed by my skills that they might even promote me a star or two up... I hope.

And I especially can not wait to see how many pokédollars they'll pay me for these Pokemons.

"Hehe..."

I really hope they give me a lot though...

After all, blood and sweat were used to capture these feisty ones and I'll be really salty if they don't give me any rewards for this shit.

Although, there were several Pokemons where I just had to throw a single pokéball and they would immediately be captured without a fight.

But still, ain't nobody knows how many Tumblestones and Apricorns I had to scavenge just to create enough pokéballs.

Heck, I feel like I caused an economic shortage in the market for these two materials with how many I collected.

Shit's so many that my system bag had to separate them into multiple stacks which caused a few spots to be occupied.

===== [ • ] =====

Only for mine:

• Scyther

• Eevee

• Voltorb (Hisuian)

• Magikarp

• Qwilfish (Hisuian)

• Stantler

===== [ • ] =====

Only 6 Pokemons that I wanted to keep cause I find them quite interesting to have, especially the Hisuian forms Pokemons.

Those I wanna catch very badly...

I mean, I've seen Pokemons in their ordinary forms a million times already to the point that seeing one would only fill me with indifference.

There are a only few Pokemons that are in ordinary forms that I find quite fascinating but sadly, most of them do not exist in this region or have not appeared in this time.

Still, I have my system PC to thank for, cause I wouldn't be able to fit deez nu... cough... these pokéballs in my satchel.

And speaking about the PC, it works quite differently from what I imagined.

Unlike the PC depicted in the game... actually, I don't know how the PC works but I suspect that the Pokemons that are stored inside would be put in a state of deep sleep, not waking up until they are taken out...

That is what I theorize about how it works in the game, at least.

But my system PC is a bit different or unique per se...

Any pokéballs which has Pokemons inside, obviously... when stored in the system PC would have their consciousness transported into a virtual reality or space.

In there, they'll be free and can roam around the created paradise, and even meet the other Pokemons who are stored inside the PC as well.

It's pretty much like a multiplayer virtual reality game...

And as for how I knew this?

Well, it seems I can transport a part of my consciousness to the virtual space and be able to interact with the Pokemons inside.

I still remember how strange and weird I felt when it first happened...

Not only can I "see" through the avatar inside the virtual space but I can also see the outside world... which is a flipping weird feeling.

It's like seeing two different things at the same but still not interfering with any of my senses.

"Ugh..."

It's quite hard to explain in words...

But I do know of one thing, this system PC will definitely be of great use to me... a lot, considering the era I'm currently in.
