44 The Truth About Unstable Qi

Just when Blake stood up and was about to leave, she saw Riolu slightly changing his expression as he warned her about people approaching. Blake was a bit confused but she nodded and put them in their pokeballs anyway.

'People coming? But I'm in my cavern, who would come here at this time? Ye Xia doesn't come here at this hour, and the tournament is happening right now so even the servants are busy- Oh, right, the tournament... I forgot about me just leaving the arena like that.'

Blake already guessed who it was, and her guess was proved correct soon enough as she saw Fang and Little Xun in the distance. She waved at them, Little Xun waved back while Fang seemed surprised about something.

"Hey guys! Did you all come looking for me? Sorry if I worried you all, something happened and I had to find a quiet place to rest a little bit..." Said Blake once they got close.

"No worries Sister Blake, but me and Senior Brother Fang need to have a serious talk to you about something..." Little Xun smiled before looking around, like he was afraid of anyone hearing something. Thankfully, the sect was quite empty during tournaments so there was no one nearby.

"Sure, go ahead and enter." Blake gestured for them to follow her while entering the cave. She looked back at them, finding Fang's expression to be unusually serious.

'Is he going to scold me? I do deserve it though.' Blake did a wry smile. She remembers that Fang knew about her unstable Qi, so maybe he knows about she letting it happen on purpose and came here to scold her for it?

Blake sat in a chair near a wooden table, there were four wooden chairs just beside it. Fang and Little Xun also sat there after she did it.

"So, what did you want to talk about?"

Fang looked at Little Xun, who sighed and nodded, before looking at Blake again and starting to talk.

"We need to talk to you about unstable Qi, or to more precise..." Blake was sure he was going to berate her, when his next sentence gave her a surprise.

"The truth about unstable Qi."

"Truth about unstable Qi? I thought there were no secrets about it." Blake was confused.

"Remember when I talked about unstable Qi with you last time? The thing is, there is some cases when unstable Qi is not that manageable." Said Little Xun.

"Like?"

"Like when someone has way above average talent in cultivation." Said Fang.

"What's different then?" Blake was curious about the difference, since she probably has above average talent.

"If someone's affinity with a certain Qi Nature is way above normal, unstable Qi is far, far more dangerous than it is to other people.." Fang said a shocking thing.

"More dangerous? How?"

"First, the effects are amplified. I'm sure you experienced that firsthand." Blake embarrassingly nodded. He really knew about it.

"Second, it's not easy to make it go away like it is for everyone else. Other people just need to meditate for a day or two and it will be all okay, but for us, its practically permanent. It will never go away as long as you are a cultivator."

"Wait,"For us", Fang does that mean you...." Blake was surprised again.

"Yes, I'm also heavily affected by unstable Qi." Fang sighed.

"I'm sure you noticed some weird parts about my personality."

"Now that you mention it..." Blake indeed found Fang behavior quite odd sometimes.

Fang normally acted like a cold person, but for some reason he is really reckless and hot headed sometimes. It wasn't like he was a Tsundere or something, but like someone had forcibly put that personality trait on him.

'So he really is under the effect of unstable Qi!' Blake glared at Little Xun. Didn't he say his Senior Brother was not like that because of unstable Qi?

Little Xun was rubbing his head with a apologetic smile, seemingly knowing what Blake was thinking about. Blake shook her head and sighed, Little Xun was really good at fooling people wasn't he?

"The reason I am like that is because of how fast I advanced stages." Fang sighed.

"I've only been in this sect for a month." Blake widened her eyes. Doesn't this means he only took a month to reach his current realm?

Fang was most likely in the first or second stage of the Qi Emission realm. Taking only a month to reach that stage, was he some kind of monster? Zhao Long was in the sect for years already and he was still far from the Qi Emission stage.

"But, doesn't everyone treat you like you are here for some time already? And if you advanced in just a month I'm sure you would be really well known around the sect."

"That's because my master and other important figures in the sect have been covering the truth." Fang said another shocking thing.

"I'm more or less the sect's secret weapon."

"Woah there, isn't this like a really big secret in the sect? Aren't you getting seriously punished if they find out you told this to me?" Blake thought his craziness was acting up again.

"That's why I told him it was too soon." Little Xun sighed.

"I trust you completely, besides, I needed to tell you this to warn you about the third danger of unstable Qi... The danger of your personality being overwritten." Blake eyes widened again. Wasn't that exactly what was happening just now?

"If a genius advances too fast or has a weak will, his personality can end up being permanently changed. It's like becoming another person, you even begin to have doubts about yourself in your mind, it's like a evil presence inside of you tempting you to change."

'So these weird thoughts weren't caused by my inferiority complex?' Blake thought.

"I also experienced this once, and ended up like how you see today. My occasional impulsiveness is the result of me almost succumbing to it. That's why I warned you about this." Fang had a deep gaze.

"Don't let it control you. Because if it does, you are never getting control back."

Blake felt chills down her spine.

They kept talking about things, Little Xun explaining in more detail how Fang entered the sect. Turns out Little Xun is in the sect for half a year already, and paid for Fang, his childhood friend, to enter the sect. They weren't in time for the entrance exam yet, but since Little Xun's talent was good and he was willing to pay more than normal, the Elder didn't care much about letting in a single person for him.

They examined his talent just for ceremony, even if his talent sucked they were going to let him in anyway for Little Xun's sake, but the outer Elder who did it had a huge surprise. The rock had become so hot he had to use Qi to prevent his hand from being burned.

Fang was then silently brought into the sect, the way he entered was also convenient for hiding it. He had become the sect's hidden genius and was being groomed to become the next patriarch, this was a big secret few Elders knew about. It was all to prevent assassination or other attempts from enemy sects.

As Blake listened to Little Xun, she frowned. Why was she feeling some hidden bitterness coming from him as he talked about this? His expression and voice were completely normal, and if she couldn't feel Aura she would never notice. She decided to not pursue the matter.

Fang also strongly warned Blake that if anyone captured her or came looking for her for information, she was to immediately tell about him for them and to not play tough. Maybe even cooperate with them to some extent, he didn't want her to brave danger because of him.

She sighed and shook her head, she was not doing something like this. Not that she gonna say this to Fang though, this guy probably won't leave until she agrees to immediately betray him in front of danger...

They stopped talking about this and Fang confirmed Blake was not in a dangerous state anymore, this was the first time she saw him sigh in relief like that. They stood up to leave and go back to the Arena. That was when Blake remembered something.

"Guys, didn't we leave Zhao Long in the Arena by himself without saying anything...?"
