184: Career Fair

The next day, at Komoda Gym.

Hisoka woke up early in the morning and fell back into his old routine. Once he was done with his morning exercise, he went to freshen up and ate his breakfast. While he was having his breakfast, he opened his phone to read today's news.

There haven't been any interesting things happening lately. Though, he noted that the pirates' activities had been picking up around the water of the Kanto region. Other than that, it was the usual weather forecast, Pokemon battles, unusual Pokemon sightings and the like.

After he finished his breakfast, he went to the land behind his gym and called out Aerodactyl. Looking at the large vacant land in front of him, he made a mental note to build a large artificial lake for his Milotic and Lapras. Maybe a few more things too, he thought.

As the Aerodactyl landed in front of him, the strong wind almost blew him away. Yesterday, he had released her outside alongside Rhyperior and Onix, just so they had more space to move around.

He gently petted her and slowly put on the harness on her back. As soon as he secured himself on her back, Aerodactyl took off into the sky. And did he mention that he had a flying licence now? Yep, you needed a flying licence to ride your Pokemon.

A short ride later, he arrived at Komoda City. He stayed in the air for a moment to appreciate the view of the city before he headed to the Pokemon Academy where the career fair was held.

Once he reached the academy, he put Aerodactyl away and went inside. Besides the students, there were a lot of people in the academy today. Many famous companies such as Devon Corp., and Silph Co. had set up booths to promote their companies to the students that would graduate soon.

He met Principal Simon at his office. Principal Simon introduced him to a couple of people looking to get a job at his gym. Once again he was indebted to Principal Simon; he didn't need to go through all the hassles of looking for people to work at his gym.

When he thanked Principal Simon, the kind elderly man just waved it off with a laugh. He reminded himself to buy a nice gift for Principal Simon later. After that, he told the people - that was introduced by Principal Simon - to report for work later. He then bid goodbye to the principal and left his office.

While he was taking a stroll around the fair, he suddenly saw a man bumping into two little girls. At first he thought nothing of it. Just as he was about to move on, he saw the man yelling at them. He frowned at that. Didn't the man realise where he was?

Before he could stop the man from going any further, Gardevoir, who was hidden beside him, had already knocked the man out with a weak Hypnosis. Moments later, the security guards ran toward them.

When he was done explaining about what just happened, the security thanked him and took the sleeping man away. He then turned around to face the two scared little girls. Both of them seemed to be around Giselle's age. One of them seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite place her.

"Err… thanks for the help just now."

The familiar girl looked up at him, bouncing in excitement.

"Can I ask something else? Are you Hisoka, that new gym leader?"

The girl was thin and had fair skin. Her hair was a bright yellow that stood out, and it was half hidden by a straw hat.

Hisoka nodded at her question, "Yes."

The blonde's eyes lit up and turned to the other girl that was fairly small in size. She had quite the pale skin, intense black hair and radiant red eyes, almost as if they were glowing. In her arms was a teddy bear with many patches. Clearly, it had seen better days.

After a silent conversation between the two, the blonde turned back to Hisoka and took a deep breath, summoning her courage.

"Can we join your gym as your gym trainer?"

"Why? Aren't you still studying? You wouldn't have time for school if you were a gym trainer."

Hisoka asked.

"You're mistaken. We are not academy students. We lived in an orphanage and we don't have enough money to go to Pokemon Academy. Please let us join your gym."

The blonde pleaded.

"Um, we can cook too."

A voice almost as quiet as a whisper came from the girl with the doll.

Hisoka chuckled silently and knelt down in front of the girl.

"What's your name?"

He asked.

"Lily."

She replied softly before her cheeks reddened

"And you?"

He turned to the blonde.

"I'm Yellow. I'm a year older than Lily."

She answered excitedly.

Then, something clicked in his head. He finally figured out where he had seen her. Wasn't she the same girl who appeared in the manga series? He thought back to how the Viridian Forest gave Yellow psychic abilities, like being able to read the feelings of Pokemon and heal their wounds.

While Hisoka was thinking, the two little girls waited for his answer with bated breath.

"Do you have your own Pokemon?"

He asked. As a person who used to live in an orphanage, he knew how difficult it was for kids like them to own a Pokemon.

Yellow quickly raised her hand.

"I have! I have! I've got a Pokemon!"

"Can you take it out?"

He took a step back.

"Okay."

Yellow grabbed a Pokeball from her belt, and threw it out.

The Pokeball popped open on the ground and the Pokemon that came out turned out to be a Raticate.

He raised an eyebrow at Yellow. If it was a Pidgey or another cute Pokemon, he might get it, but a Raticate? Such an interesting choice for a girl.

Yellow looked affronted, "Hey! What's up with that look? My Raticate is much stronger than other Raticate. His sense of smell is very good. He can always find some rare herbs in the forest."

"Okay, your Raticate is strong."

He held his hands up in mock surrender before turning to Lily.

"Lily? What about your Pokemon?"
