162: Massive Windfall

Nurse Joy's Clinic.

"Good morning, Nurse Joy."

Said Hisoka as he stepped into the small clinic.

"Good morning, Hisoka. Come and join us for breakfast?"

Replied the tanned Nurse Joy as she took the plate from Chansey.

"Sure, if you wouldn't mind."

He nodded and took a seat at the table.

There were all kinds of fruits and berries on the table, fresh coconuts, and some pancakes.

"It's no big deal. We rarely have guests anyway. Isn't that right, Chansey?"

Said Nurse Joy with a smile, followed by a nod from Chansey.

"Chansey!"

"So, what's your plan today?"

He asked in a casual tone while taking a bite of an apple.

"Well, I'm going to check up on those Lapras that you brought in last night. Other than that, I'm free today."

She replied after a moment of thought.

"How are they? Are they problems with them?"

He asked, his voice turning serious.

"There are no problems with them except for some cuts on their skin. In any case, I'm going to do one more physical examination on them."

She assured him.

"That's good."

He sighed in relief.

After they had their breakfast, they headed out to the lake just a short walk away from her clinic. Once they reached there, they saw dozens of Lapras swimming around the lake.

As they got closer, one of the Lapras approached them. It was the Lapras that he rescued about a week ago.

"How do you feel, girl? Are you happy to be reunited with your family?"

He stepped forward and patted her head affectionately.

"La!"

She let out a cry filled with joy and nudged his hand gently.

Yeah, he found these Lapras inside one of the two boxes he took yesterday. Last night, after he left the Stinger Pirates' base, he stopped at a tiny, deserted island to sort out his ill-gotten gains. Much to his surprise, these Lapras were the herd that Lapras belonged to before she got separated from them.

After seeing that they were in bad condition, he made a detour to Nurse Joy's clinic, which was close by.

He was also very pleased with what he found inside the second box. It contained loads of cash, enough to last for quite a pretty long time. Well, that might be a bit too much. Nonetheless, he could go somewhere for a nice vacation, and there would still be plenty left over.

Nurse Joy and Chansey watched their interaction with fond smiles.

"On behalf of all Nurse Joy in the Orange Archipelago, we would like to thank you for rescuing those Lapras."

She said, bowing deeply.

"I didn't do much. They were just about to be taken away by the poachers, but as luck would have it, I was nearby at that time."

He said, trying to play down his role.

"Regardless, we still would like to thank you for rescuing them. Many Lapras had gone missing these past few years. There might only be a few schools of them out there left. I feel uneasy about letting these guys leave now."

She said worriedly.

"I think I have an idea."

He said aloud after thinking about it for some time. He quickly took his phone out and called Professor Ivy's number.

"Hello, Professor Ivy. This is Hisoka speaking. I would like to know if you can take in a group of Lapras for some time. They..."

He recounted the pain the Lapras had experienced prior to his rescue.

"Sure! I would love to have them here! Just holler at me when you are ready to transfer them."

Replied Professor Ivy.

After the call was ended, he let out a whoop of joy.

"It's done. Professor Ivy agreed to take them in."

He said to Nurse Joy.

"Really, thank god. They don't need to worry about poachers anymore."

She said, relieved.

Later that day, after taking Lapras back to their Pokeball, he waved goodbye to Nurse Joy and left for Kumquat Island on Lapras.

When he reached Kumquat Island, the sun was just about to fall. After he set his foot onto the pier, he put Lapras away and immediately headed to the Hunter Association headquarters to complete his mission as well as hand in Captain Crook for his bounty. Surprisingly, the guy was still alive. Well, he can stay in prison for the rest of lives from now on.

Then, he went to the local Pokemon Center and transferred the Lapras to Professor Ivy. To his joy, Lapras wanted to say with him. Next, he used the computer inside the Pokemon Center to book a flight ticket to Kanto. After that, he went to find a hotel to turn in for the night.

As soon as he walked out of the airport, he saw Ryoichi in a casual suit waving toward him next to a sports car. It seemed Ryoichi was doing quite well since the last time he saw him.

"When did you change to a new car, Ryoichi? Did you get a promotion or something?"

He asked after shaking Ryoichi's hand.

Ryoichi looked proud at that.

"I just got a promotion and a salary increase. You're now talking to the Captain of Celadon City Police Department. How about that, huh? Isn't it amazing?"

Said Ryoichi like a pompous twat.

"Haha! Still the same old Ryoichi."

He laughed, shaking his head at Ryoichi's antics.

"So, how did it go? Did you manage to get promoted to a gold-rank hunter?"

Ryoichi changed the topic.

"Yes. But let's find a place to eat first. I'm a bit hungry."

He said, getting into the car.
