19 Chapter 019
Arthur gulped as he looked at the Beedrills in front of him. His heartbeat quickened in the face of sudden danger, but he took a deep breath and calmed himself.
He knew very well that if he panicked in this situation, then the only fate awaiting him would be death.
'I need to calm down or I'm dead!'
Thinking that, Arthur calmed down and started analysing the situation in front of him.
He needed to weigh all the pros and cons before making a move. Just a single mistake could lead to his death. That's why, he was being really careful of everything.
The first thing he did was to analyse the strength of the Beedrills in front of him.
Most of the Beedrills were of yellow and orange aptitudes and Arthur wasn't much interested in them. The one he was interested in was the queen of the whole group.
As the queen, it was also the strongest Beedrill in the whole forest and just by the appearance, Arthur was sure that the aptitude won't be less than green.
And he was also not wrong.

Although he already had a guess about the strength of the queen, Arthur still swallowed his saliva looking at her status.
When he focused more on her status, he noticed that the green colour was deep, signifying that the queen would come at the top among the green aptitude Pokemon.
If she had gotten more resources, there was even a chance for her to transcend her aptitude.
'I need to be careful. The queen is more powerful than I thought.'
Arthur frowned in his mind and looked towards the Beedrills in front of him, then moved his gaze to look at Mankey and Charmander.
It was not only him who was anxious due to the situation in front of him. His Pokemon were the same and the first thing he needed to do was to calm them down.
"Charmander, Mankey, calm down. Don't be anxious and just follow my commands!" Arthur said calming down his Pokemon.
Both of them looked towards him for a moment and nodded their heads. They decided to put their trust in Arthur due to the bond that had developed between them in the past few days.
"Bzzzz!!"
At that moment, the queen suddenly roared at Arthur with red, glaring eyes.
It seemed like she was giving out the command to the other Beedrills as they also started to cry out and suddenly, two Beedrills rushed towards Arthur.
"Bzzz!"
The stingers of the two Beedrills started to glow as they prepared fury attack against Charmander and Mankey, but Arthur was already prepared for it and gave out orders accordingly.
"Charmander, don't let the Beedrills come close to you. Block them with ember!" He ordered Charmander who quickly shot out small balls of fire.
Arthur had already instructed Charmander to aim for the wings whenever he was fighting against a Beedrill and at this point, he was already used to Beedrills.
Defeating them was an easy thing for Charmander who has a big type advantage against them.
He didn't hesitate to attack the wings this time too and with a loud cry, both the Beedrills fell to the ground with a thud.
"Bzzzzzz!!"
This angered the queen more as her red eyes gradually got filled with madness. She was already filled with killing intent after seeing the dead bodies of Kakunas and Weedles and now, seeing two Beedrills getting defeated in front of her has made her more angry.
That's why, without wasting any time, she charged at Arthur. Her wings swayed wildly as her stingers became filled with deadly poison. It was her most powerful attack and she was sure that it would be enough to poison the opponent in front of her.
But at that moment, Arthur suddenly shouted.
"Charmander, use smokescreen!!"
Before the queen could even reach close to Charmander, black fog appeared all around her and she lost her vision.
It was the same with the other Beedrills. They weren't able to see anything with dark smoke engulfing their surroundings.
This was the chance for Arthur to run away!
He already knew that there was no way he could fight against a whole group of Beedrills. Just the queen would prove fatal and he wasn't sure if he could really defeat her.
In that case, the only way was to run and preserve the life of his and his Pokemon.
The Beedrills had ambushed him, but they hadn't encircled him. It was because the queen never thought that Arthur would be able to run away by using such a tactic.
The overconfidence of the queen has given him a great chance.
Thankfully, Charmamder had learned a useful move like smokescreen which was also perfect for this kind of situation. By using that, he blocked the movements of the Beedrills and called Mankey back into his pokeball.
Then without looking back, he started running towards the Gloom territory with Charmander following behind him.
"Charmander, keep using ember and smokescreen to block the Beedrill that would try to chase us!"
"Charr!"
He ordered without looking back and Charmander replied with an affirmative shout.
Arthur knew that the smokescreen wouldn't be able to keep holding off the Beedrills for long and he needed to come up with constant attacks to keep the distance between them.
He felt a headache thinking about the danger he was in, but there was no other option in this situation other than to run with all his strength.
'It won't be easy for the Beedrills to chase me all the way to the Gloom territory. If I can just reach that, I would be safe!'
Arthur thought as he hoped that he would be able to last long enough to reach the Gloom territory.
