"What?" I heard Juniper gasp. The building shook and trembled again.
Damn, I thought. Dragonite and Garchamp were near the peak of Pokemon power. Despite how easy they were to catch in the games, here, only a few hundred trainers were recorded to have captured such strong dragon types.
"They'll destroy the town!" I shouted to Juniper.
"Not with me here! Bronzong, Gardevoir, Go." Caitlin shouted and threw out two poke balls, a bright light revealing her Pokemon.
"Bronzong, take Atlas, Rosa, and Hilda to the Pokemon enclosure! Relay any danger to Gardevoir!" Caitlin grasped a moon shaped necklace around her neck, ripping it off and approaching me.
"In case anything happens, this necklace has a tracker in it. Worst comes to worst, hide."
"Caitilin we don't have time, it's all over the news. Trainers part of Team Plasma have appeared!" Juniper grasped Caitlin's arm, who allowed herself to be pulled.
"Protect my children Bronzong," the unknown woman stated, knowing none of her pokemon were nearly as reliable. With that, the three women ran out of the building.
"Bro-Bronzong." The bell pokemon guided us to the enclosure, where it stood by our side.
…
"Do you know who these dragon trainers are?" Rosa asked me curiously.
"Unfortunately I don't, I just know they actually appeared before," I should have asked Juniper what else she knew about them.
"Well this will be the last time they show up. Damn, Team Plasma Too? The whole towns going to be locked down after this, " Hilda chimed In. Hilda appeared similar to her sister with blue eyes and brown hair, just a few years older. Her hair flowed down her shoulders unlike Rosa's two pseudo pigtails. She was taller than Rosa, just a little under my height, maybe she was 13, 14? She wore denim shorts with a black jacket over her white shirt.
"Really?" Rosa looked at her sister.
It did peak my interest, the fact that they and their Mom were so comfortable with leaving our lives in the Bronzong's hands. Though it did make some sense, Pokemon were vastly stronger than humans and an elite four member like Bronzong was much stronger than any normal Pokemon.
"How much longer do you think we'll wait?" It's been half an hour since we've hid, and occasional rumbles have shook the building. We were in a corner of the enclosure, a few meters from a group of Poliwhirls. All the Pokemon in the enclosure were in small groups, waiting for any potential enemies.
"Don't know, but I'm not moving from my spot," after taking her hand off Rosa's back, Hilda sat down with her legs crossed.
While Hilda and Rosa discussed who these dragon trainers might be. I checked my pokédex for news, the fact that two dragon trainers and Team Plasma appeared has already spread across the Unova Region. Despite my curiosity about what was happening outside, I thought it would be best waiting for the dust to settle. All I had was Ruby in her poke all, and the Bronzong's first priority was to keep us out of danger, it wouldn't let me go outside.
However the silence didn't last long.
In just moments, a wall of the enclosure was broken through and dozens of canisters of gas were thrown from the hole and room entrance.
**Shhhhhh....**
"Get away from the gas," I immediately yelled.
Bronzong immediately took action before I even yelled out, the Pokemon glowed a violet hue from psychic energy radiating from his body. After a few seconds, the energy flowed from the Pokemon to surround the gas, trapping it in psychic bubbles.
That was it, I couldn't help but wonder. Although I was new to the Pokemon world, why would someone bother with using gas when a psychic Pokemon could easily dispel it.
In fact, some other psychic Pokemon in the room used their powers a few seconds after Bronzong to also clump the gas together, rendering it useless. But our enemies were still hidden and dangerous.
"Hilda, Rosa, get ready. We don't know where our enemies might appear," I looked up to Bronzong.
"Bronzong. Can you use your powers to find the enemy?"
"Bronzong!" The pokemon yelled, the air around it rippled. Its body further glowed as the gas converged to one point near the building's ceiling.
My eyes watched the hole in the wall, suddenly, multiple pokemon dashed out and rolled straight at Bronzong. They were Electrodes.
The bell Pokemon used his psychic and ground moves to slow the enemies. Despite its attempts, Bronzong was expanding too much power dealing with the gas to stop all the Electrodes. Glancing over at our concerned faces, he gave a firm nod. Then, for a split second, the Pokemon lowered its shield around the gas.
One fell, then two, in less than a second all the Electrodes fell, their bodies caved into the ground, unable to move. It occurred extremely fast, since the Electrodes showed themselves, only a few seconds had passed.
In the corner of my vision, I saw what looked like a lighter fly through the sky at the gas. Realizing our enemies plan, I tried to cry out to the Bronzong who watched the Electrodes with a sad gaze. I was too late.
"Bronz—"
**KAAA-BOOOOOOOMMMM**
…
I covered my ears as the gas exploded a few dozen meters in the sky, looking over I saw Hilda drop to the ground with Rosa in her arms.
Almost 30 Team Rocket members came out from behind the broken wall, another wall suddenly blew up. Did they want to collapse the building?
In just milliseconds the Bronzong was able to put up a small screen in front of us to block the blast, but he couldn't contain the explosion in time. The enclosure Pokemon put up their own psychic type shields, shot water at the fire, buried themselves in the ground. Anything to mitigate damage from the explosion.
"That's Caitilin's Bronzong, we have only a few minutes before their backup arrives, grab the injured pokemon," yelled the man who seemed to be the leader of the group, he had blonde hair and brown eyes. Half of his face appeared blistered, a burn mark across his face.
"BRONZONG!" Furious, Bronzong let out a deep roar towards Team Rocket and their pokemon.
The leader was only a few dozen meters away from the Bronzong, commanding a Crobat and Arcanine.
"Crobat use Air Slash! Arcanine Fire Fang!" Crobat and Arcanine rushed the Bronzong.
"Come back, they'll surround you," I shouted to my large bell shaped companion.
With what I assumed was rock tomb, spikes bursted out of the ground next to Bronzong as he charged toward Team Rocket's leader.
"The-The ceiling, it's caving in," Hilda yelled, shifting my eyes from our enemies. I watched as the ceiling began collapsing above us. Shocked, Bronzong tried to run back, but he was cut off by the falling debree.
"The whole building is!" As if to support my claim, the ground began to rumble as well. Looking to another corner of the enclosure, I saw large boulders and trees falling through the ground, completely disappearing.
How far was the drop? In a split second I looked to our left at the bodies of the Poliwhirls that didn't survive the blast, their severely burned bodies just a few feet away.
"Hilda, Rosa! Grab a Poliwhirl!" With all my strength I jumped on what was left of the bouncy water pokemon. I hugged its body, bracing for the fall, my speed picking up meter by meter.
**THUMMMMPP**
Like a whip the Poliwhirl's body hit the floor, the force in the bouncy body shooting me up almost a few meters into the air, I rolled to the ground. I had barely any cuts.
"You know, that wasn't too bad," I commented to myself.
"Ahhhhh!"
"I can't die yet!"
As if on cue, two other voices appeared, both who were shot off their Poliwhirl. Rosa and Hilda landed on their buts, groaning, but alive.
I walked over and helped them up.
"This might not be the time, but seeing what we just sent through…You can call me Atlas." I gave them a small smile.
"Well you sure know how to pick up a woman by her feet. You've already heard my name, I'm Hilda." She brought her hand to her chest, before placing her hand on her hip, pointing at her younger sister.
"I'm Rosa, our mother actually mentioned you before we came over" she gave a small bow. I nodded in appreciation.
Turning my attention to the surroundings, it looked like we were in a medium sized storage room, littered with packages and workbenches. The hole we fell through was now filled with debris after landing, but from the time I spent in the air, the drop was at least ten meters.
"We need to get out as soon as possible," Hilda immediately grabbed her sister and began walking to the door of the room.
"Wait, we don't know who's out there, let's search the room for weapons."
Hilda looked at me with a stern gaze.
"Did you see who was chasing us? Weapons won't help against pokemon that strong."
"But what is we find something like guns or explosives?" I doubted we could fine any, but it was better than walking out into the enemies hands.
"What's a gun?"
"…"
I forgot, there were no guns in pokemon.
**VRROOOMMM, CHECHE CHE CHE CH—**
"…Did someone turn off the lights?"
"Rosa?"
"I didn't touch anything Hilda."
"One moment," I was planning on letting out Ruby at some point, and with the room encased in darkness, now seemed as good of a time as any.
"Ruby," with a flicker of the poke balls opening, white light consumed the room before Ruby appeared, basking back into darkness.
"Can you give us some light?"
"Scorbunny," with a happy cheer, Scorbunny conjured a ball of fire in her hands.
"Thanks, can you bring the light over here though? Let's see if there's something we can light."
With Ruby next to me, I walked up to one of the workbenches I saw.
"Atlas, listen," Hilda suddenly whispered, her voice slightly quaking.
Hilda's grim expression stopped me, taking a deep breath, I stood quiet.
"…where are they...I can't wait...the boss" There was a faint sound of a man's voice coming from outside the closed door.
Immediately my eyes quickly darted to the workbenches, looking for anything to help us. With what we just saw, I had no idea what a team Plasma would do if they caught us. Ruby wasn't even in her second evolution, compared to the Pokemon Team Plasma has, making her fight would be a death wish.
Wait.
Looking back at one workbench, I saw some broken objects, one of which was a long glass shard.
"Atlas, we need to hide," Hilda scurried up to me and anxiously tugged my wrist.
"No…Ruby, put out your light," I turned to my side, kneeling down to my Pokemon's height.
"This is very important Ruby. On my command, you'll use all your power to distract the trainer's Pokemon." Looking towards the metal door, the man's voice was becoming louder.
"I'll go for his vitals," I whispered to myself, my grip on the glass shard tightening.
