LOG 39: Ferris Wheel

A bright day under the season of Fall, what could be more splendid but to visit some of Nimbasa City's famous concert halls. I craved to watch a few daring competition, may it be music or art. If it weren't for our first task, my interest for the city wouldn't have grown.

Under the bright light of the sun, I sauntered by the side of my Pokemon alongside Virgo who forced herself to come with me. Leaves of brown fell under our noses, and the wind, such passion it possess.

"I've finally made a step closer to discovering the purpose of your marble," said Virgo, tossing it up and down the palm of her hands.

"Really? What do you have so far?"

"Well, I know it's from the Kalos Region, so this might be a Mega Stone, but then again, it might not. If it were a Mega Stone, then where is the stone for at least one of your Pokemon? You ain't got any bracelet too so yeah... The chances are high that it's not."

"Sigh, I wish it was. Riding on Mega Rayquaza's back was amazing, imagine me riding on Mega Salamence or Absol!" my eyes sparkled.

"You'd wish, mega stones lend a ton amount of power to your Pokemon, but with great power comes great responsibility."

"I'm pretty certain I'm a responsible woman," I boasted.

"Oh really eh? You can't even find your Rotom Phone yesterday!"

A sweat dropped from my forehead. "That was an accident." I excused.

For an hour or two, we circled the city and welcomed its splendor. Such liveliness we embraced, the people there never frowned. Competitions everywhere being held, such excitement galore. There were stalls that attracted our tongues, especially the noodles. We love us some noodles.

We began chattering about the black orb I found or rather stone if it is more fitting. For Virgo, she thought of the stone as something unimportant and is just single stone that I'm pretty sure Champion Steven would be pilfering from me.

"It's just a stone used for an ornament sort of thing. That's why Gardevoir gave it to you. She loves you. I wouldn't be surprised if that stone has high value. Maybe you could get more than a hundred buck from selling it."

I blurted, "Selling it? I think I won't and will be keeping it for myself instead. Who knows? Maybe it's a tiny egg."

She laughed. "A tiny egg? You're not pulling my leg aren't you?"

I pouted. "I know it's crazy. It's just a what if?"

"I wonder what will hatch from that egg? Ooh! A legendary?" she continued laughing.

"Ha! Ha! Ha! Laugh all you want," I rolled my eyes.

We stayed by the stalls for a moment longer, just hanging out and talking about stuff while I earnestly hope Charlotte isn't stalking me right now which I bet she isn't.

There was a point in time when Virgo got bored of my twittering about orange juice and why I love them, and so her eyes began roaming. Well, since she's a professor, I completely understand why she prefers lemon tea which in return, is something I'm not fond of.

As her eyes roamed, she jerked in enthusiasm as if something amazing appeared in her mind.

"Luna! Isn't that Logan right there?" she pointed at him from afar.

"Huh, maybe he lost against the gym leader?" I shrugged and didn't pay much attention to him.

"Then take this opportunity to hang out with him!" she pushed my back.

"Ah? Now you're pulling my leg."

"What's the matter? You're scared? Afraid? GASP! Frightened you might blush in public?" she said in the most ridiculous and teasing manner.

"There is nothing between the two of us and I don't have feelings for him!" I corrected.

"Prove it then, go and approach him."

"And where did you get this idea again?" I lifted a brow.

"From one of my novels. Now go and prove it!" she chuckled and pushed me towards Logan. It was too late to turn back when our eyes met. That Virgo, keeps getting me in trouble and she's just there at the stall, watching and gazing at me.

"Luna? You're here again? I see you're wearing your--"

"Yes, we have a day off,"

"A day off? Huh, Team Rocket's a slacker then?"

"Excuse me?"

"Oh no offense. It's just an assumption since two days ago you were here, then you said you were having a day off, four days ago you were in Nacrene, six days ago, in the same city again."

"Are you tracking me?"

"No, I was just kidding."

"But then, you might be right. Team Rocket has many agents that us Elites aren't being bothered anymore."

We began sauntering and talking together while Virgo followed me from behind, hiding from the bushes from time to time. If Charlotte was here, she'd be mad as crap but luckily she isn't.

I could barely remember how long Logan and I talked. It was there when an old woman with violet hair jumped out of the bushes and stopped our walking. She had a smirk, it made me pout. Virgo is never excellent when it comes to disguising herself as another person. I never heard of a woman who has a mustache before.

"Good afternoon folks or should I say good evening? You are our lucky winners of today! Here are two free tickets to Nimbasa City's famous landmark, the ferris wheel!"

"What the?!" I said to my mind.

"Cool, that sounds fun," said Logan who took the tickets.

"You little..." I glared at Virgo who acted as an old woman with a mustache.

"Thank me later," she whispered.

"Just you wait,"

"You said that to Zeal too," she chuckled.

Logan grabbed my hand and started to lounge toward the ferris wheel. "Come on, this will be a blast." he said excitedly.

"I-- I'm afraid of heights," I said as an excuse.

"Oh really now?" he paused and laughed. "I remember the time you rode Mega Rayquaza's back."

"F-fine, maybe an hour will do."

"An hour?"

"Don't tell me you haven't rode a ferris wheel before."

"Well, I did actually. They're pretty fast."

I sighed. "Those are the ones in the carnivals. But that?" I pointed at it. "That's a real one."

Shocked he was on how slow it moved but he was also feeling a bit nervous, I noticed. Behind our cart, it was no other than that Virgo who still wore a mustache while acting like an old woman. She's similar with Charlotte but opposite.

It was sunset. I watched with an unwavering gaze, as a fiery red orb of light slowly sank beneath the horizon, and threads of light lingered in the sky, mingling with the rolling clouds, dyeing the heavens first orange, then red, then dark blue, until all that was left of the sunset was a chalky mauve, and then that melted away in turn as stygian darkness took over the sky. Sequin-silver stars like the glowing embers of a dying fire winked down at me, illuminating the atramentous curtain of sky, and then suddenly the clouds parted, and I found myself looking at a lustrous, argent disc casting brilliant rays of moonlight onto the dark grounds.

"You love watching sunsets don't you?" Logan asked.

"It reminds me of Kanto. This one here is great, but Kanto's sunset is second to none." I said softly, keeping my eyes glued to the sun.

"But you left Kanto for a reason right?"

"No, I was just assigned in different regions. That's why. Although, I truly hope Team Rocket will have another headquarters in Kanto. It will be splendid to see its sunset again."

"And your family must be longing to see you right?"

I paused for a moment. "Team Rocket is my family. I- I had a mother once, she died."

"What happened?"

"Heart attack."

His face appalled. "I'm sorry for asking."

"It's fine," I giggled.

The sun sinking to the bowels of Earth, my cheeks glistened cherry red and Virgo achieved what she wanted to see...

Yup, Luna did lie to Logan about her Athena.
