The next morning has arrived and things are looking pleasant as ever. I've noticed a constant shift in the egg. It grows brighter at times while sometimes the glow is just dull. Seeing the egg glow all of a sudden, I was shocked and I could not resist the urge but to research more about this phenomenon. Also, I received an email from Virgo who appears to be reporting about their latest findings about Mew and Mewtwo.
It turns out, they were able to capture the ancient Mew but it was able to escape the laboratory. She told me to keep a close eye on any Pokemon that may seem suspicious since they've detected Mew in this region. The ancestors of all Pokemon? (excluding the Arceus) It would be great to meet it personally one day!
Back to the egg, it says on the internet whenever an egg glows it means it is about to hatch. Still, that does not entirely mean it would be hatching any second now. Perhaps a few more days or weeks will be needed in order for the little embryo to develop further.
Since I still do not have any assigned mission, I will be staying here in headquarters, watching and taking care of the egg all day. That is when I suddenly remember the events which took place yesterday. I remember I need to tell the leaders about this so I left my room for a moment. This time, I assigned Mawile and Absol to be the baby-sitters of the egg while the rest of my Pokemon comes with me to the warehouse.
They're compassionate, and I do believe Absol does not hurt anyone as long as she knows it is a friend of mine. As for Mawile, her rambunctious and jolly nature will surely give the egg some entertainment.
"Alright! I trust the two of you will be great babysitters like Liligant. I will be back before you know it!" happily, I greet them before leaving. The moment I left the room is when their responsibility as babysitters start.
The moment I shut the door, Absol quickly turns her head to the egg, watching it like a griffin. Meanwhile, Mawile was quite curious about her peculiar actions.
<What are you doing?>asks, Mawile.
<Protecting the egg at all cost of course.> Absol replies, keeping her eyes on the egg inside the incubator.
<Isn't staring a bit boring? Why not do something fun for once like?>
<And risk the chance of Luna getting angry? Nope.>
<Yeesh. You're too serious. It's not like the egg will randomly fall off the table. I know! Luna keeps her TCG in her pockets, wanna play with me?>
<No.>
<Please>Mawile begs with her adorable looking eyes.
<No.>
<Please! Please! I'll be easy on you this time.>begs, Mawile desperately.
<Sigh, no.> Absol replies back, staring at the egg at all cost.
<Hmph. I guess I have to play by myself, with no friends, and no one to play with.> she says with a sobbing voice.
<Your tricks are old Mawile. I'm not lending you any of my pity. Luna gave us strict orders.>
<Fine, I guess you're right. I'll just watch with you instead.>says, Mawile with disappointment. She sat right beside Absol, gazing upon the egg-like what Absol is doing. It is as if the egg was some sort of ticking clock, making her sleepy as the seconds pass by.
<I'm getting sleepy, are you?> Mawile complains.
<Of course not.>
<Sigh>Mawile remains silent again. She continues to stare at the egg with her eyes trying to stay awake as possible.
<Alright, I'm going to play some cards by myself.>Mawile could no longer stand the boredom. She leaves her spot but accidentally hits the table stand with her long jaw, making the table shake. The two were alerted quickly as they focused on the egg whether it would fall or not.
The table shakes violently and all of a sudden the egg falls. Absol tries to reach for it, but she was an inch late. Luckily, Mawile was able to grab it with her jaws. Although that problem was solved right away, little do the two of them know a new one is about to arise.
<I guess my jaw is handy dandy after all.> Mawile compliments herself. Due to this, she accidentally releases the incubator and lets it fall to the ground. Two seconds afterward, the blare of shattering glass emitted, making both of them shake with guilt.
As luck would have it, the egg survived but as for the incubator? It was completely destroyed.
<Hehe.> Mawile looks to Absol with an embarrassed face.
<Look what you did?! What are we suppose to tell Luna now?!> Absol becomes ferocious, wanting to bite Mawile tightly.
<The egg is safe>
<The egg will die without the incubator! That thing is responsible for maintaining the required temperature for the egg!>
<If there is a will, there is a way! You can sit on it instead.> suggests, Mawile sarcastically.
<I am not a chicken.>
<Come on Absol, all you have to do is to sit on it.>
<I'm too heavy, the egg will crack.>
<I'm too heavy too.>
<That's it, let's just steal another incubator from the warehouse which has the same type, the same brand, and the same color.> Absol figures out a plan.
<Nice idea. What about the shattered glass?>
<Push it under the bed, she won't find out about that.> suggests, Absol as she leans over the door and opens it. As for Mawile, she executes Absol's idea, pushing all the pieces of glass to the very corner, underneath the bed.
The two then rush to the headquarters which has caught the attention of many grunts. On their mind, they wondered why would two Pokemon suddenly roam the place for some reason instead of being inside their Pokeball.
They make a mad dash through the halls of the warehouse, entering the door with the label, [Science Sector 5] in which all the spare incubators are located there. They knew about this since every incubator produced here has a sector label located on the very back. Absol must've comprehended all the details before panicking gravely and dashing off to find a copy.
Luckily, no one is in sight except for themselves. As a Pokemon with four limbs, she leaves the task of carrying the incubator to Mawile. They were able to find a spare one sitting randomly atop one of the tables. They run back immediately to the room before I arrive.
"Sure Admin Hector, I will be seeing you tomorrow."
<S-stop.>Absol halts Mawile and herself at the corner of an intersection.
<That sounds like Luna. She's probably about to return.> Mawile guesses as she starts to perspire heavily. As for Absol, she takes a glimpse of the hall and sees me heading towards them. I had no clue they were there but they knew they're up for trouble.
<Come on, I know another way.>instructs, Absol as the jolt back to the room continues to onward!
Due to this, they've wasted all their stamina but at least it was a healthy exercise since both of them had been eating a ton lately. Another stroke of luck, they were able to reach the room before I did. However, only a few seconds remain as the blaring sounds of my footsteps tickle their ears.
"That was a tiring conversation. Oh, Mawile, Absol? Why are the two of you sweaty? Sigh, I just groomed your furs this morning." I open the doors, greeted by two smiles with the egg perfectly placed inside an incubator, looking normal with no difference since the time I left.
"Oh well, I guess the two of you had fun with the egg?" I tease sarcastically, letting off a chuckle as I observed my precious diamond.
"This seems odd. The incubator feels new." I mutter. Behind me are Mawile and Absol, pleading that I wouldn't find anything strange about it even if I've found one already.
"Hmm, maybe it's because the two of you worked hard to take care of the egg? I know! As a reward, I will let the two of you sleep me with tonight, how's that sound?"
<Ab! Absol!> <Maw! Mawile> The two of them leap in joy and ecstasy, but inside them is deep guilt.
As the moon reaches its pinnacle, I fulfilled my promise to my two hard-working Pokemon and let them sleep beside me. I tried to make myself fall under a deep slumber by searching for some videos to watch on the internet once more like what I do every night.
And finally, drowsiness struck. I blink my eyes, and suddenly because of my drowsiness, I dropped my phone. I went off of my bed for a while and that is when I noticed something peculiar under it.
"What the?" I mumble, enabling the flash on my phone. No matter how subtle my words are, it was able to awaken both Absol and Mawile.
"Why are their shards of glass on the floor?!" in the middle of the night, I enrage at Mawile and Absol, demanding an answer. As a response, all they did was smile and returned themselves to their very own Pokeballs.
