67 CH6 (67), 4th Birthday (2)

Today Rose and her parents are visiting us for my delayed/second birthday celebration. My parents have not told me what they have planned for today and it would be a lie if I were to say that I am not curious about the plans they have made. A bit before 9 a.m our doorbell rang and the Field family stood in front of our home. My mother let them in and we exchanged greetings. As soon as the polite greetings were finished, Rose ran up to me and gave me a surprisingly strong hug. I hugged her back and she started excitedly chattering.

"Mika, happy birthday. I missed you. Are you excited? I know I am.

I wanted to show you Ivy, but mommy told me to leave her at home together with Princess. Mommy made Tamamo stay with them.

Mika at school we started learning how to play the flute this year and I am going to play you a birthday song. Are you happy?" Rose kept speaking, telling me things in one sentence and asking me questions in the next. She simply kept talking without giving me a chance to answer right until now and she used the nickname she gave me instead of my full name. I remember when she used it the first time. I asked her why she called me that and she insisted that Mika was shorter and cuter. Seeing her proud look, I simply decided to accept it, because I knew that denying her would result in a lot of pouting and disappointed looks.

"Thank you, Rose. I missed you too. Yes, I am excited as well. I have no idea what we are going to do today, but I am sure it will be fun. I would have liked to meet Ivy as well, but at least I can show you my Eevee and my other friends that you haven't met yet. It's great that you want to play some music and I am sure it will sound great." I decided to answer her in chronological order. 'Hopefully, she really learned how to play those songs, or my poor ears are going to suffer.' Were my thoughts before I tried to get free from Rose who was still hugging me. "Rose how about you let me go, so we can go to the table. I am sure you are as hungry as I am. Besides the sooner, we eat our breakfast, the sooner my parents will tell me, I mean us, where we are going today. Alright?" She nodded and reluctantly let go of me. Then we started walking towards the table under the amused looks of our parents. 'Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up, guys. Really funny.' Were my thoughts at their not so subtle amusement. A child may not have noticed their amusement, but not me.

After breakfast, my parents finally told us where we were going.

"We are visiting Honey Park, a theme park near Honey City. I already bought our tickets online. They are VIP tickets, so we won't have to wait in line for any attractions. We will drive there and the journey takes an hour, so we will be there by 11 a.m. Since the park closes at 7 p.m, we should have more than enough time to try most, if not all, the things you kids are allowed to do/ride." Announced my father. This caused Rose to celebrate.

"Yay! We are going to an amusement park. Ohhh, we are going to have so much fun. Isn't this great, Mika?" She says facing me and I nod at her.

"Yeah, I think so too. I'm sure it's going to be fun." Is what I tell her and I really think that as well. Since Honey City specialized in, well, honey and this was a theme park, then I am sure everything is centered around honey or Beedrill. My mother addressed us while we were talking. "We are heading out in 15-20 minutes, so Mikail if you want to introduce Rose to your Pokemon that she hasn't met yet, then you should hurry. We will call you over when it's time to go." I nod at that to show my understanding and start addressing Rose. "Rose come on, let's go out to our garden. I'll introduce my Pokemon to you. I told you about them on the phone and I am sure you want to see them personally." Rose rapidly nods her head at that. "Yes, I want to meet them. Is your Eevee as cute as mine, and can I hug them?" She asks me while we walk towards the terrace. "Yeah, but you have to get their ok as well" I answer her.

We built/bought dwellings for all my Pokemon so that they have a place to stay outside of my room since my room is not large enough to fit all of them inside at the same time. They stay outside most nights, with only one or two sleeping with me, which is more often than not Eevee and Metapod. I lead her to Eevee's little home first, which is near Agni's place near the terrace. "Nyx, my girl, come out I want you to meet someone," I call out to Eevee, who I gave the name Nyx after she decided that she wants to evolve into an Umbreon and I am sure she will prove herself worthy of that name someday. "Eeee. Veeeeee." We heard her first before she excitedly came out and ran up to my jumping into my arms, forcing me to catch her. Now with Nyx in my arms, I introduce her to Rose. "Rose, this little lady is Nyx," I say to her, before doing the same for Nyx. "Nyx, this is my friend Rose. Rose has an Eevee too and I am sure she will let you two play together if I can bring you with us when we visit them the next time." As soon as I finish my sentence Rose speaks to Nyx. "You're too cute, just like my Ivy. Ivy is the name of my Eevee. I am sure you will be great friends like me and Mika." She says to Nyx before turning to me. "Mika, can I hold her in my arms, please?" She asks me and I simply shrug. "You have to ask Nyx, if she'll allow you to hold her," I tell her and Rose looks towards Nyx at that. Nyx meanwhile simply tilts her head up while looking at the side showing her refusal, before Rose even has the chance to address her.

Seeing this Rose turn to me with a hopeful look that says make her agree.

I keep myself from laughing at the situation and agree to ask Nyx to let Rose hold her while scratching her favorite spot. She gives me a look that says, only because you asked so nicely do I agree to suffer this indignity.

I have no idea how she could convey so much with a simple look, but it kept impressing me every time. Rose seeing Nyx agree to my request happily takes her from my arms and hugs her. Excitedly talking to my Eevee, while said Pokemon tried acting aloof, but I could see that she was getting swept up by Rose's enthusiasm.

A minute later I decide to walk towards my next Pokemon since we would not be able to see them all before we had to go if we didn't. Rose keeps Nyx in her arms while we walk towards the place Mothra stays, which is the area, my parent's Butterfree live. My Butterfree and Xatu have their dwelling there as well. I show Rose Mothra telling her that she evolved, since the last time she saw her. After that, I call over my Butterfree and Xatu and introduce her to Butterfree since she hadn't met him yet. I also tell her that Natu evolved as well. She acts impressed with Natu, which makes him puff out his chest at her. Seeing Xatu like that makes me laugh a bit. I bring Rose to the area where my Nidoran stay next and see them chilling on the lawn outside their dwelling, with their parents.

"Seb, Gaia, can you come over for a bit? I want to introduce you to a friend." I call out to them and they do as I ask. "Rose, these are Seb," I say while pointing at my male Nidoran. "And Gaia." I finish pointing at my female Nidoran. "Seb, Gaia, this is Rose. She is my friend and wanted to meet you." I introduce Rose to them as well, then I speak to Rose. "Rose you can hug them if they are okay with it. The two are safe to touch."

She excitedly asks them and after getting their permission, she put Nyx down before crouching down herself to hug his Nidoran and pet them. She then points towards their parents and asks me if they are my Pokemon as well. I nod and tell her that they are Seb and Gaia's parents. Rose makes impressed sounds that do not make me feel proud. I definitely did not feel proud of myself for impressing a 6-year-old little girl. A few minutes later our parents call us over and we bid my Pokemon, that were staying home, goodbye, before leaving for Honey Park.

Like my father said the drive takes 1 hour and upon seeing the park I felt a bit impressed. The entrance of the park confirms my previous guess. There are quite a few giant Beedrill and Butterfree balloons tied to the entrance gate, that looked like the cell of a honeycomb. The theme keeps showing up during our whole visit. All attractions are named after either a member of the Beedrill-, the Butterfree-line or something related to honey. The park has roller coasters and other fast rides, but those are all only available to older/larger people. Still, that does not mean we don't have enough to keep ourselves busy with. There are attractions that we are allowed to enter, like a climbing range that uses strings, that should probably signify String Shot, as a theme called Weedle's Walk. Then there is an enormous trampoline field that resembles a net called Caterpie's Trampoline Home, as well as a range where one can swing around different areas with a multitude of ropes, that are supposed to be String Shots, called Caterpie's Swinging Adventure.

We also visited a large labyrinth-like building that resembles a honeycomb, where you can not only go left, right, front, and back, but also up and down called Weedle's Comb. Rose started a round of tag inside that place and it was the most interesting round of tag of my life. There was also a Ferris Wheel, with cabins that looked like honeycomb cells called Comb Wheel, really imaginative I know. I noticed a pattern in the naming of the attractions. Attractions attractive for all age groups were named after honey or the honeycomb. Attractions aimed more towards little children were named after Caterpie or Weedle. Those aimed at older children/ young teens had Kakuna or Metapod in the name and attractions aimed at teens/adults had Beedrill or Butterfree in them. I thought it was a good idea. At 6 p.m we went to a restaurant inside the park and ate there. Predictably the menu had honey-themed names on it and I chose a honey-glazed Pidgey roast as well as a soda. All of us also ordered a honey pudding and everything tasted great. After eating we left the park and drove back home.

After entering our home, we went to the living room and a bit later my mother stood up and left for the kitchen. She quickly returned with a birthday cake and they all start to say happy birthday to me. The only thing I could say was thank you, so I did. "Thank you, everyone. I am really happy right now." I give all of them a hug before I look at the cake. "I am sure everyone wants to eat the cake because I do." Everyone laughs at that and I put out the candles, before cutting the first piece. My mother takes over after that and gives everyone a slice. After her first slice of cake, Rose takes out her flute and plays some songs. One of them is surprisingly the happy birthday melody that I know from the yore. Some music does seem to transcend dimensions/universes. We clap for Rose and I hug her.

After she returns to her seat, my mother speaks up. "It's time for the presents." She says, and Lily speaks up before she can continue. "We will go first," she says, and Rose cheers. "Oh, oh, oh. I want to give Mika the first present." Rose says before she takes a package from her mother and gives it to me. "I hope you will like it." She says happily while I open the wrapping. It turns out to be a blue T-shirt and after unfolding it I can see that there is 'I heart Rose' printed on it. The heart is a red heart symbol, and the rose is a rose symbol, so the only word on the T-Shirt is I, but it is obvious to me and all adults in the room what this is supposed to mean. All adults start laughing at the face I make after seeing the message on the T-Shirt. "That means I like Rose. Do you like it?" Explains Rose to me, before she asks if I like it. I see her expectant look and feel the stares from the adult. "It's great, thank you." I say, but I am sure I will probably never wear it. Still, that is no reason to be rude by disagreeing.

"We have another present for you." Thorn says before giving me another package. I understand at that moment that they probably gave me the T-shirt to tease me and that this was my real present. It turns out, they bought me a pair of goggles as well as a rebreather, the small kind you see in movies that you simply have to take into your mouth and that allows you to breathe underwater without any air tanks. "The goggles can be used underwater as well as in sandy areas, while the rebreather filters the water allowing you to breath underwater through your mouth, while also keeping the water out." Lily explains to me and I thank them both. Rose pouts at that and says it's her gift as well. We all laugh at that and I thank her as well. After that, my father leaves for a bit before returning with a medium-sized package. "This is our present to you. I am sure you will love it." My mother says and I open up the package under their expectant looks. It turns out to be an incubator with an egg.

"We know how much you adore Agni, so I made a deal with an acquaintance. He got an egg and we got an egg as well. Now, this is yours. From us and Agni for you, Agni's child. We know you will take good care of him or her." My father explains to me while I was looking at the egg in awe and excitement. I carefully put the incubator aside and rush up to my parents while repeatedly thanking them. "It has been 3 months since we have gotten the egg, so it should hatch in another 13-15 months. Make sure you take good care of it." My mother informs me and I nod at her. "I will," I promised them while walking back to the egg. Rose comes over as well and observes the egg in fascination, while occasionally making impressed sounds. I check out the egg to look at its potential.

Since it has been more than 3 months since it has been laid, its potential should have settled.

'Species: Growlithe

Gender: Male

Type: Fire

Potential: Deep Green

Stage: None, PokeEgg

Genetic variation: None

Abilities: Intimidate, Flash Fire

Talents: None

Affinities: Fire'

I am impressed by what I see. While his potential is not as high as Agni's current one that is normal. I have learned from my experiments and some of the knowledge that I have unlocked thanks to them, that the potential of the Pokemon after hatching depends on the potential of both parents.

Seeing his potential the mother probably had green potential. The child's potential takes the average of the parent's current potential and adds +1 to that as the theoretical upper limit. The lower limit is -2 the original average. If the stage is identical to the potential of the better parent then the probability of the child having better potential is 0.001-0.5%. An easier example, current and original potential stayed the same, then the probability is divided for into 0.001-0.5%, 0.5-20%, 20-60%, and 30-50%.

In this case, Agni has light blue potential, the mother has probably green potential, which means that there is a up to 0.1% probability for the child to have light blue potential, up to 3% probability for deep green potential, a 60% for green, and a 36.9% for light green potential. Knowing my father's luck he most likely chose the egg with better potential among the two.

Besides my space will upgrade the Growlithe's potential after it hatches, so it will most likely have blue potential after the improvement. I thank my parents once more for their present and talk a bit with the excited Rose. 30 minutes later it is time for us, Rose, and I, to sleep so I bid everyone goodnight and go to sleep. My mother led Rose to their bedroom, so she can sleep there until the adults go to sleep, then her father will carry her downstairs. They said that Rose and her parents will leave after breakfast, so they would see each other tomorrow. Still a bit giddy by the awesome surprise his parents had sprung on him Mikail fell asleep.
