177 CH46 (176), Treasure Hunt (1)

Everyone began leaving after Ms. Striker told us to get moving. Yu and I wished Weiss and Ace's pairs good luck before moving out as well. We kept walking for a minute or two before we stopped to talk a bit.

"Ok, here seems good. I don't think any of the other students are going to overhear us here." Yu said and I agreed with him.

"So, the way I see it the coins will be either in hard-to-reach places and, or, in protected areas. We'll obviously need to use the help of our Pokemon as well if we want to win this, so let's share what Pokemon we have besides the ones we used during the competition." He stated the obvious, at least I thought it was obvious.

Still, it seemed he was taking the lead, but I wasn't used to following others, so I decided to set the pace instead.

"Sure, I'll start. Besides the four you saw, there is Dilong, my Gyarados. He'll be helpful if we come across a body of water that we want to check out.

There's also Enji, my Growlithe, who should be able to smell if any humans besides us have been in a certain area. However, since I don't know if our teachers have taken steps against that or not, I'm not sure how useful that will be." I saw no need to mention all my Pokemon, so I went with the ones I thought could come in handy.

Furthermore, I was sure they together with Thor/Pikachu, Luna/Clefairy, Mothra/Butterfree, and Horus/Xatu should be able to handle any situation we came across.

*phew*

Yu released an impressed whistle.

"You've got some pretty impressive Pokemon. I honestly did not think you had two more Pokemon and such great ones at that. Guess it's my turn. You've seen Thunder, my Zebstrika, and Gale, my Staraptor.

I also have Sandy, my Sandshrew. Sandy could help us dig for stuff I guess. Oh, and she should notice if someone had recently dug a hole in a place that she checks out." Yu said following my example for his introduction.

"Good, let's call out our Pokemon. The flying types can help us keep an eye out from up there, while the others will help us search down here." I directly did as I said and called out 5 of the 6 Pokemon he knew of.

I kept Stan/Dilong/Gyarados in his ball for now. As soon as they appeared Mothra and Enji excitedly flew/ran up to me for a hug. Horus and Luna were calmer than that and just looked on clearly amused. Thor just laughed before claiming on top of my head and teasing Mothra and Enji from his throne.

I saw Yu show a relieved look when he saw that I had not called out my Gyarados before he called out his three Pokemon. Once everyone was out we told them what was going on and Horus, Staraptor, as well as Mothra took off into the air.

Horus and Staraptor flew up pretty high to keep an eye on a wider area which was not hard for them thanks to their Keen Eye. Mothra on the other hand flew at a lower height than them, being about halfway between them and us here on the ground.

She would act as our first line of defense in case of an aerial attack, so that was not a problem. Yu had his Sandshrew ride on his Zebstrika since it was too slow and offered to let Zebstrika carry Luna as well, she declined since she was fast enough to keep up with our walking speed.

Our air squad informed us of a cliff to our west, so we began moving there since that seemed like a place one would hide something at. We obviously still kept looking around while heading there in case we found a coin on the way there.

We came across a few lone Pokemon, as well as a few smaller groups, but they choose to leave us alone and we did not bother them either since they had no coins.

Yu and I did some small talk while walking since it would be pretty awkward to do so in silence. Small things like what do you do in your free time and where did you find a Butterfree like that.

Regarding the last one I jokingly told him I would have to kill him if I told him how I got a royal Butterfree. He laughed at that, but the "funny" thing was that I was not sure I wouldn't do that.

Just kidding, I would just erase his memories, probably. Anyway, roughly halfway through Enji ran over to me.

"Dad! Dad! I noticed a human smell." He yelled in Pokespeech with his tail wagging like crazy.

His body language was screaming praise me, so I did.

"Great job, Enji." I praised him while giving him a hug as well as rubbing his head.

*sigh*

"I told you to call me big brother not dad," I told him with a sigh before giving up since I had repeated that sentence dozens of times already.

"Can you follow the scent? I want to know where it leads to." I asked of him and he nodded rapidly.

"Sure, dad. Follow me." He replied, ignoring the big brother part before he began bounding off.

"Let's follow him. He said he found the scent of a human." I told Yu, who looked over with an inquisitive look.

We kept following him for a minute before we came in front of a tree, where Enji stopped. We noticed an area at the foot of the tree that had to have been recently dug.

We saw no Pokemon around the place, so after I gave the signal Enji began to dig up the place to see if we would find anything. He managed to unearth a coin and after checking it out it turned out to be a one-pointer.

"I expected as much since it was pretty easy to find," I told Yu after showing him the 1 punched on the coin.

"Yeah, I thought so as well. Still, it's a good start." He answered and I nodded.

After I praised Enji for a job well done we resumed our walk to the cliff. It took us around 6 or 7 more minutes to arrive and when we did we both released a slight groan. We immediately saw the coin but getting it would not be easy.

"Whatever coin we find up there better be worth 5 or 10 points," Yu complained and I fully agreed with him.

I wonder which "genius" teacher thought it was a good idea to place the coin at the nesting area of a Fearow flock. I bet it was Mr. Koetsuji. I mean, I was counting nearly 60 Spearow as well as 6 Fearow, and they did not seem weak.

"Alright, how should we go about getting that coin?" I asked Yu to see if he had any idea.

"Could you use your aura magic to get the coin?" He asked in a hopeful tone, clearly not wanting to provoke the flock.

"I can try," I replied before I began giving out a calming and friendly aura.

However, the flock seemed to give no sh*t about my aura since a lot of them gave a warning screech after I got closer. Well, I guess that they gave a warning first instead of directly attacking showed that it was not completely useless, but I still had to abort the attempt.

"Nope, doesn't work. We'll have to do it the hard way." I told him and he slumped a bit before murmuring something that sounded a lot like shitty sadistic teachers.

"Seems like it." He finally grumbled and I had to suppress my laughter.

I thought his behavior was pretty funny, but that was probably just me. I had seen and been in much more dangerous situations after all.

"Alright, here's what we'll do. My Butterfree, Xatu and your Staraptor will keep the Fearow busy." I began outlining my plan but was interrupted.

"I don't know if Gale could keep up with 2 Fearow. If they are as strong or stronger than her then she'll already have her wings full with only one of them." Yu expressed his concern but I waved him off.

"As long as they are not at the gold stage, Mothra, and Horus can keep 5 of them busy. Gale only has to deal with one if two is too much for her.

Anyway, while they keep the Fearow busy we will slowly move towards the cliff.

That should make all the Spearow focus on us. Everyone except for Thor will keep the Spearow busy while Thor will use our distraction to get the coin." I continued my plan before turning to Thor.

"Thor, buddy, if they notice you and try to attack, you can return fire. However, try to hold back, alright? We do not want them to get killed or crippled." I asked my mischievous and slightly shock/trigger happy electric mouse.

"Roger, boss. Leave it to me." Thor patted his chest with a smile on his face.

I relayed the plan to Horus over the mental link he established and he told the plan to Mothra and Staraptor. Then, upon my signal, we began Operation Flappy Bird.

The flying types swept down and provoked the Fearow. At first, only 4 went over, but the other 2 followed after they saw that 4 were not enough.

Once all 6 had been listed away, we began moving forward. Luna increased the gravity around us to slow down the Spearow that began attacking us once we got too close for their taste.

Our Pokemon began to return fire, and they purposefully used flashy moves to attract all their attention. They held back their strength to conserve their stamina and to avoid harming the Spearow too much.

Thor used that to sneak towards the cliff. He managed to reach the foot of the cliff without being noticed. I saw him study the cliff a bit, most likely to determine the best way up before he used a Quick Attack to reach the coin as fast as possible.

Obviously, the Spearow noticed him the moment he did that since it was hard to miss him rushing up like that. Still, by the time they managed to react Thor was already beside the coin.

At first, he clamped the coin between his body and his left arm before he had a better idea and threw the coin in our direction. After that, he quickly made his way back down. The Spearow tried to attack him but he released a Thunder Wave at those that came too close to him.

Anyway, the coin landed not far from us and Enji bounded over and brought it to me. I took it from his mouth and put it away after checking its value.

"It's a 10-point coin," I informed Yu who looked over inquisitively. He smiled happily hearing that.

"Okay, time to retreat. Let's get out of here." I shouted once Thor was back and we beat a rapid retreat.

Quite a few Spearow kept following us for a while but they retreated after a minute of being repelled. I had Thor shoot a Thundershock into the sky, which was the signal we had agreed on with the air squad for them to retreat as well.

Less than a minute later they returned as well. They even brought along a surprise, and I did not mean the Fearow with that, not at all. No, Horus was levitating another coin by his side that he gave me.

Apparently, they found it at the top of one of the larger trees while they were flying over. I checked it out and saw that it was a 3-pointer.

"That's great. Not only did we get the 10-point coin but also another 3 point one. So, where do we go next?" Yu exclaimed before asking for our next step and I turned to Horus as well as Mothra.

"Did you notice any place that might have a coin from up there?" I inquired and thankfully they nodded.

"We noticed a large pond a bit to the north of here. That should be a good place to hide a coin or two." Horus spoke up for the air force and I gave them a thumbs up.

"Awesome! Good job you three." I praised them before telling them to lead the way.
