Xyno was on the way to The Academy City while checking on his Pokephone. Yes, it is the Astra version of smartphone. Here many things are named after pokemon so it is understandable. This world also has a version of internet though it is only available for this continent as long-distance networks are not economical in this world.
Not only is this world more than 98 times earth in size, due to the influence of mana in this world, network signals get too many disturbances. So network connectivity across continents is very expensive.
He was somewhat sad leaving his 'home' but he knew it is necessary to follow his dreams. After completing his certification, he will embark on the journey to become a Pokemon Master.

(Interesting, maybe I should pay a visit to academy as it will be near the facility) Xyno thought inwardly.
"And then the Champion Cynthia's Garchomp himself defeated three of the opponent's pokemon. I really want to become like our champion someday" Nancy spoke with shining eyes.
"Yeah, Cynthia is really strong right?" Xyno replied casually.
"Yeah! Cynthia is the strongest Champion in all 5 regions of Yannan. Her Garchomp is said to be in Master class!" Nancy said with enthusiasm.
(Master class? Then that means her Garchomp is above LVL 100. That's something.) Xyno thought inwardly.
As time went on, several hours later there was an announcement that Sylvester city is near.
After exiting the futuristic train station, what came into view was a lively city that looked like those from the middle ages. Sylvester City was established around The Sylvester Academy. The Academy was founded by Sir Elvis Sylvester, a master class pokemon trainer nearly 680 years ago.
The old city has maintained its cultural view from the old times. It is even a popular tourist destination as well as headquarters of various organizations is situated here. Like the Pokemon Research Organisation Sinnoh branch where Xyno is headed.
The Academy is situated at the center, whereas the city is built around it. Due to its huge size, it is easy to get lost inside the city so Nancy offered to guide Xyno to reach there which he happily accepted.
"That is the headquarters of Xianu food corporation and that is Taurus corporation headquarters" Nancy was happily explaining various locations.
(She is a chatterbox for sure) Xyno smiled wryly while walking when suddenly a rude voice came from behind.
"Hey what are you doing with my girlfriend !"
Xyno looked at the source of annoyance and found 3 punklike guys walking boldly towards them. The one in the middle was standing there with jealousy burning in his eyes. Yes this was the source of annoyance.
"What are you talking about Rick, we already broke up last year. And I am just guiding Xyno to his place"
"Don't lie to me Nancy!! I already know that you broke up with me because of him!" The guy was screaming out of his lungs.

Xyno checked him with his eyes while ignoring their quarrel.
"Hey if you are a man fight me at the arena right now! If you lose stay away from Nancy"
"What? I can go to the Facility myself. You guys can continue your quarrel" Xyno did not want to spend one more minute near this annoyance.
But alas! there are idiots in every world. Two other guys blocked his way.
"You want to fight? Good then, I also want to see what the academy students can do" Xyno also got annoyed with them and he thought that it was a good chance to test the results of Sett's training.
They all moved to The Arena. It was a special facility for duels within the city as normally battles on streets were not allowed. It contained many chambers that can be borrowed for fights and academy students had limited free access here. Chambers were reinforced and could easily contain the damage from the fights.
Usually, such facilities were available inside Gyms but due to the special existence of Academy City, Gyms are not needed here so this facility was established by the academy.
Xyno and Rick registered for the battle and were allocated a small chamber for one hour. They both stood on opposite sides inside the security forcefield. Though pokemon can heal from most injuries inside pokeballs, humans did not have that luxury so protection measures were needed.
In official matches, trainers can only support pokemon with their aura and cannot help in battles directly. In old times both trainers and pokemon fought together but these practices were discontinued for various reasons. Although in real-life battles were really deadly.
"C'mon Xyno, beat him to the ground!"
Nancy was cheering from the sides with some of her friends while there were also many more spectators joining in on the 'fun'. They were here for a good show. Most of them were from the academy and were supporting Rick to defend the 'Pride' of the academy.
"Just see as I plummet your pokemon."Rick was overly confident with himself.
"Yeah, will see after the match" Xyno replied casually, not wanting to waste energy on him.
"Both sides will use 3 pokemons and Pokemon cannot be switched between battles" the referee explained the rules. He was a middle-aged man who worked for the arena.

And both chose their pokemon at the same time. Watching Xyno's special Pokeball, the referee thought it was strange but quickly lost interest.
