Chapter 11

As Jax was running with Vioarr in his sweater, he saw a cave coming up. Although the cave opening looked large, at least it wasn't out in the open for his swarm of Beedrills to surround him. Thinking no further, Jax decided he would rather take his chances with slim hope of survival against no hope of survival. Taking a detour, Jax made a sharp turn in the direction of the cave.

As soon as Jax entered the cave opening, the musky stench assaulted his eyes and noses making it hard to see or smell anything else. Knowing that his survival depended on the decisions he would be making in the next couple of seconds, Jax ignored the disgusting smell and headed deeper into the cave. Luckily, as the cave deepened, the walls and ceiling became narrower and lower provide better protection against the onslaught of the killer bees.

'Ah! Frick me! Just my dang luck!' thought Jax as he came up against a dead end. Ahead of him was a wall too thick to dig through, above him was stalactite too sharp to dig up, and the ground...for some reason, the ground had stalactite too? And it was even moving up and down...as if it was breathing. 'Ugh! I must be so tired that I'm even hallucinating now.'

"Alright Vioarr. I know you don't have the golden ratio of EVs but in this situation, there's not much we can do. It's do or die, buddy. Let's kill our way out! REVENGE FOR MOTHER KANGASKHAN!"

"KROOO!" shouted Vioarr with all his strength as he stamped the ground hard.

The situation looked pretty doomed. With no way to escape and the only exit blocked off by both of their nemesis, their only hope was to take as many down with them as possible.

But just as all hope was about to be lost, the ground beneath their feet started shifting, upwards?

"Oh, great! I already have to deal with killer Beedrills and now I have to death with a moving floor?! Kami-sama, I asked to become the best trainer, not to be dropped in Pokemon Hardcore editio-"

But before Jax could complete his sentence, the giant monstrosity that he assumed was the floor...was actually a two-meter tall Nidoking?!

"KROOO!" The gigantic Nidoking yelled at the bugs on its back with such vigor that Jax was about to lose consciousness from being so close to its almost deadly roar. BZZT! BZZT! Before the purple titan could proceed to wreck whoever was on its back, the familiar sound drew it to its surroundings. Upon closer inspection, the Nidoking realized that its archenemy had invaded its lair. Whether this was a stroke of luck for the purple dinosaur or the misfortune for the breathing missiles, Nidoking just stood in all of his majestic glory and stared at the swarm of black and yellow.

"Ugh! Today just isn't my day it seems. First, we run into those flying school buses and then Barney shows up. I hate it here. Oh well. I asked for a Pokemon world so I guess I can only blame myself for this."

After what seemed like the longest stare off ever, Nidoking raised its mouth and spewed out a vat of toxic sludge! That's right, Sludge Wave! It covered nearly the entirety of the cave including most of the Beedrills that was brave enough to trespass upon its lair.

Luckily for Jax, Vioarr had the sudden insight to cover the boy with his body so the ocean of purple, green goo didn't reach the boy.

With most of their forces dwindle down from the hundreds to the tens, the Beedrills hightailed out of the cave but not before sending a couple Pin Missiles at the cave entrance, collapsing it on itself closing the cave shut.

'Just great, now I'm going to either die in this cave because I ran out of food and water but not before that beast eats me. At least I can send Vioarr into his pokeball so that nothing will happen to him. And to think that I haven't even held a woman's hand besides my mothers. What a sad life this is.' thought Jax as he proceeded to withdraw Vioarr into his pokeball.

"Okay, big guy. It's just you and I now. Well, come at me! I'm not scared of you! I'm not going down without a fight!"

But no matter how much Jax taunted the Nidoking, it just stood there gazing at the silver haired boy, then it took a peek at the pokeball in which Vioarr laid. Noticing his gaze, Jax quickly moved the pokeball away afraid that the Nidoking had a taste for cannibalism.

"Nah! No way! Over my dead body! Vioarr is my brother! I won't let you do anything to him while I'm still breathing!"

Ignoring the cries of the way too high voice of a child, the Nidoking just kept looking at the pokeball before laying back down in its original position tending to his wounds. Seeing the purple monstrosity in such a vulnerable situation, Jax slightly lowered his guard, albeit, still making sure that he could sprang into action should the occasion necessitate it.

After what seems like an eternity, Jax couldn't take the awkwardness anymore and took out some potions he had in his bag. Since the system was being so stingy on the use of the Items function, Jax had to settle for carrying all of his belongings in a standardized academy issued school bag.

"Well, since you did technically save my life, I'll use my precious potions on you. Hold still, this is going to sting a bit."

"Humph!" was the only reply that Nidoking gave before slumping back down in its usual position.

After applying the potions to most of the king's wounds, Jax patted himself off for a job well done. 'Now that that's taken care of, I should take care of myself.' Taking out his emergency rations, Jax summoned out Vioarr so the two could eat together. Although pokemon don't get hungry inside a pokeball, Jax grew up with Vioarr and the two were practically real brothers now. If Jax ate all by himself, he would feel guilty.

Taking one last look at the Nidoking to make sure it didn't have any devious plots against his brother, Jax sighed in relief and summoned out his companion. "Sorry, buddy. I should have been paying more attention to the forest. I knew it was just way too quiet but I was too excited to get our hunting done today."

"Kro..." cried Vioarr in understanding.

As the two were finishing up their unsavory meal, Jax turned around to check if the king stayed put only to receive the shock of his life! The Nidoking was standing only a few centimeters away from Jax staring down at him with its blood red eyes!
