Chapter 07

After some back and forth with the system, some of Jax's questions were answered. The most important was about his sub-space. It was like an entire world...in a separate dimension. I guess that Kami-sama does have some powers.

Basically, Jax could take anything with energy in it, a rock, flora, fauna, pokemon, even other humans and store them in the sub-space. The system will do its best to analyze the substance and if it can be planted, will be planted. An example of this would be apricorn trees or berry trees. If it can be re-created, it will be re-created. An example of this would be a leaf stone. And as for pokemon, the system will do its utmost to make a hospitable habitat for the pokemon to live in while it is inside the sub-space.

The best part, the system will analyze any non-living thing placed inside its compound and try to upgrade them. Better berries! Higher quality evolution stones! Sadly, the grades of pokemon couldn't be upgraded but that's okay. Jax preferred the good ol' IV/EV grinds anyways.

Speaking of IV/EV, you might be wondering. Jax, you claim to be the best pokemon trainer but how are you going to min max your pokemon when your system doesn't tell you what your pokemon's IVs/EVs are?

And that is where you are wrong. You think his psychic powers are just for show? What about his not even unlocked Aura powers? As Jax grows stronger, his powers too will grow. Eventually, he'll be able to sense his pokemon's IVs/EVs just based on their aura.

Now you must be wondering, isn't that too far off? Jax has an amazing starter but what if he messes up Nidoran (M)'s training? Even the best pokemon can become garbage with the wrong training. To that, I will say, worry not, who is Jax in his previous life? A sick patient with literally nothing to do but learn the inside and out of the pokemon world!

Arklight City was surrounded on two sides by nothing but woods! And what can we fight in the woods? Oddish! Spearows! Those will be Jax's golden ticket to a maxed out Nidoking!

Jotting down his future plans, Jax looked over at Nidoran (M) adoringly. 'Don't worry little guy. I promised your mother I would take care of you. The road to success is paved with thorns and needles but I promise you the chair you sit on at the top is nothing but comfort. You just have to be willing to trek that road.'

The Nidoran (M) felt a shiver run through it with a clueless look on its face.

"I can't just call you little guy, or Nidoran (M) forever. When I was playing pokemon, part of the joy was giving each pokemon their own specialized nickname. Hmmm let's see, since your mother is Kangaskhan and your dad is a Nidoking, how about Kangking? No, that sounds dumb. Askking? Wtf. Even more dumb. Oh! I'll let little Ally pick a nickname for you in class on Monday! Hehehe. I'm so smart."

Two days passed by swiftly but make no mistake, those two days weren't spent with Jax and Nidoran (M) just twiddling their thumbs. (Does Nidoran even have thumbs?) Jax made sure to keep up with his physical and psychic training. Plus, now that he has a pokemon, he tried to focus on training his aura but he wasn't having much luck.

Nidoran (M) was still just an infant so aside from being fed the best premium Moomoo milk, he didn't have to do much. So I guess you can say he was just twiddling his thumb? claw? toe?

"Alright class! Quiet down! I know everyone is excited to show off their new pokemon but a quick couple announcements! It has been brought to my, and the rest of the academy staff, last week that their has been some discrimination among the students. I want to stress that this is a prestigious academy. With Team Rocket running rampant out in the world, some of the leading professors and trainers have decided to come together and build this academy. With that being said, we are pouring in endless resources to train you upstarts up so that one day you may venture out into the world and defeat those evil-doers. Therefore, each and every one of you has been vetted by the staff and I. Meaning! Each and every one of you deserves to be here. I no longer want to hear any discussions about a student's upbringing, their lack of parental support, financial support, if they got in here through a recommendation or any of that sort. AM I UNDERSTOOD?"

"YES, MA'AM!" cried out the class in unison.

"Wonderful! Now that that's out of the way, let's go around class so that you can introduce your new partner to everyone. Daisy, you're up first!"

"Hi, guys! This is my partner that my dad picked out for me! Come on out! I choose you, Vulpix!"

"Ouuuu! Ahhhhh!" the whole class was amazed to see a rare Vulpix.

While some of the other students had more common pokemons like a Pidgey or a Rattata, some of the other students had some pretty cool ones.

"I choose you! Aaron!"

"Show them your beauty! Magikarp!" splash, splash.

Finally, it was Ally's turn. Jax couldn't wait to see which pokemon suited this shy little fairy.

"U-umm. I c-choose you! Me-Mew-Mewton!"

'OMG! For a second there, I thought she was going to send out a Mew!' thought Jax trying to get his mind in order from the shock.

In a blindly bright flash a light came out...a small and long little...worm?

"WHOA! AMAZING! HOW DID SHE GET ONE?!" the whole class went ballistics at Ally's pokemon and with good reason.

Jax stared at Ally's pokemon in astonishment. He thought Nidoran (M) was already pretty good but Ally's species of pokemon put everyone else to shame. "She has a fricken Dratini?! We don't even have any big water sources by us! How?!"

"T-this is my p-partner, everyone. Mewton, m-meet my classmates."

The whole class swarmed up to Ally and bombarded her with questions on how she got her pokemon. If training a dragon pokemon was as hard as everyone said it was. If they could take and upload pictures of it on their social medias.

While the whole class was firing off questions at Ally, Jax subtly spread his psychic powers towards Dratini to check its stats.

Jax was blown away by what he saw. Mewton was on par with Nidoran (M) and its move pool was ever a bit better than what Jax was imagining. Extreme Speed at level 5? Dragon Breath? Any one of those would already make a good pokemon great but both? On one pokemon? Disastrous for whoever messes with Ally and Mewton.
