Chapter 05

Early the next morning, "Jax, baby! Get up! If you sleep in, I'm not taking you to the wilds anymore!" stated Doria as she knocked and entered Jax's room.

"Mommy! I've been up for two hours already! I just got done with my training! Let me shower first and then we can go!"

A little background about the world our protagonist lives in. The world that Kami-sama sent Jax into was called Kalpotron. Jax was born into the city Arklight sounded to the north by Thora Forest, the east by the Yulti Mountains, the south by Ryul Woods and to the west of the city laid the Great Beyond, a barren stretch of land that led into a canyon. What lies below, no one knows.

"Mommy! Mommy! Where are we going today? Thora Forest? Maybe I'll catch a Caterpie like you! Ouuu! How about the Yulti Mountains? I hear I can find the elusive Larvitar there! The Ryul Woods wouldn't be bad either! But I really, really, REALLY want to try my luck at the Great Beyond. Specifically, down in the canyon! What if there's a legendary pokemon just waiting for me down there. I can almost hear it calling my name, mommy!"

"Haha, okay mister. Hold your horses. Yulti Mountains and definitely the Great Beyond are too dangerous. Since we have the whole weekend, I was thinking we can try our luck up north in Thora Forest first. Nidoran will make for an excellent starter if we manage to find you one."

"Okay~! Lead my way mommy dearest!"

After a 2 hour car ride, "We finally made it!" yelled Jax who could barely contain his excitement any longer.

"Okay, mister. First rule, you have to stay by my side at all times. If I say it's time to go back, we have to go back. And if I say run, you must-"

"Immediately run away! Yes, mother! You already said all of this in the car! C'mon, lets go already!"

"Haha okay then after you." said Doria with an adoring look as she looked at her handsome son.

Jax spent the next hour looking at wild pokemon with his mother. Sadly, they were all too weak! Not a single one was able to catch his eye. At most, their grades were copper. Some of the better ones he found were only at iron! What a let dow-

"KWAU! KWAU!"

"Jax, baby, stay close to mommy. I don't know what pokemon is making that cry right now. From the way it sounds, it seems to be in distress!"

Walking through the thick bushes for a while longer, the cry of the unknown pokemon seemed to be getting closer.

"KWAU! KWAU!"

"Jax, hold mommy's hand. I don't know which pokemon it is but it seems to be getting closer. I don't know if it will be friend or foe."

After another 30 minutes of hyper vigilance, the unknown pokemon finally made its appearance known!

A Kangaskhan burst through the bushes straight towards Jax and Doria! At first, Doria panicked and pulled Jax close while throwing out Arcanine.

"Jax, stay with mommy. Arcanine! Don't do anything yet but make sure the Kangaskhan doesn't come closer."

Upon further inspection, Jax noticed that the Kangaskhan was actually holding an egg and she was apparently in very bad shape!

"Mommy! I think the Kangaskhan is hurt! We have to save her! Please!" while Jax was pleading with his mother, a group of Beedrills burst through the canopy. From the looks of it, there were at least 5 of them circling the group and it sounds like more weren't far behind.

"Oh no! I think the Beedrills are chasing after the Kangaskhan! Arcanine! Use Flamethrower to keep them at bay! Let me see if this potion will work on her." ordered Doria who was obviously overwhelmed with the whole situation.

As Doria ran up to the injured Kangaskhan and was about to apply the potion on it, the Kangaskhan reached out to stop her. It knew it was no longer going to survive after today but it had one last job it had to do.

As any mother's instinct, it wanted to protect its precious egg before it left this world. The Kangaskhan looked at Doria and then turned its head towards Jax before widening her eyes with shock.

Using the last of its energy, Kangaskhan stood up and slowly walked towards Jax behind looking him in the eyes.

Doria was perplexed about the whole situation and didn't know what the Kangaskhan would do next but something inside of her screamed that it would be okay. The next moment, Kangaskhan pushed her egg into Jax's arm before slowly falling forward.

Jax, as perplexed as his mother, just stood there, wide eyed. Looking between the egg in his arms an then down towards the mother Kangaskhan, Jax made a silent vow to protect the egg with his all.

"Okay, Jax, I think it's time we run away. Arcanine, come! Carry us out of this forest!"

While the duo sat atop Arcanine, Jax cast one last look back towards the mother Kangaskhan knowing what her fate was.

After fighting off the pursuing Beedrills, the duo atop Arcanine finally made it out of the woods.

Gasping for breath, "Jax, let's take a break tomorrow. We can try again on Sunday but I think this was too much excitement for one day. Let's head back home."

"Mhm. I'm okay mommy. We don't have to come back Sunday. I already have a pokemon."

"Huh? You do? I didn't see you catch anything and you didn't seem interested in any of the pokemon we passed today."

"Yep, my first pokemon fell into my arms. Literally!"

"You mean...The egg Kangaskhan entrusted to you?"

"Yep! The pokemon that will hatch out of this egg will be my very first pokemon! And I cannot wait!"

To see why Jax was so excited, we'll have to go back to when the Kangaskhan handed the egg over to Jax.

In that brief physical contact that they had, Jax was able to see Kangaskhan's stats and he was beyond shocked.

The mother Kangaskhan was...AMAZING. With a Dense Diamond grade, the egg will inherit part of that grade if not all of it depending on what grade the dad was. Another those stats were beautiful to look at! Out of all the pokemons Jax has seen so far, the mother Kangaskhan was the closest to being perfect!

Jax was out of his mind hyperventilating because he didn't know how his luck could be so good.

Just as the mother and son duo made it back home exhausted from their way-too-exciting adventure, the egg in Jax's hand started shaking! The egg was about to hatch!
