Chapter 061

Alex was setting up the Psychic ward some distance from the village. Luna and Hugh were sitting to the side.

"What is the function of this Psychic ward?" asked Luna.

"See the gem in the middle? Professor's Alakazam has inputted its Psychic energy into it. The ward will enhance the Psycic energy in the gem, and thus alert Alakazam in Pallet Town. Then, Alakazam will teleport over along with Professor Oak" said Alex.

Alex completed the war and sat down.

"Now what?" asked Luna.

"Now we wait. Professor Oak is going to come when he is ready" replied Alex.

After a few minutes, Professor Oak and Alakazam appeared in a flash.

"Good morning Professor" said the three of them.

"Good morning to you too. So, have you found the village?" he asked.

"About 500 meters east. The description and the landmarks fit the Frog King's Village recorded in the journal" said Alex.

"Good work you three" said the Professor.

"So what next Professor?" asked Alex.

"Well, Hugh, Luna, your mission is completed. You will get the rewards you were promised soon. You can either come with me to the village if you are interested, or Alakazam will teleport you back to Vermillion City" said Professor Oak. He then turned to Alex and said, "The same options for you."

Hugh and Luna decided to go back to be Vermillion City while Alex decided to stay.

Alakazam teleported with the two of them.

"So what now Professor?" asked Alex.

"We will pretend to be travellers and gain entry into the village. Then we can approach a few elders, or records in the village and try to get stories and information. We will then see what happens. I wore this outfit for the same reason" said Professor Oak.

The Professor was wearing standard travellers clothes and a huge backpack. It was totally different from the lab coat Alex was accustomed to seeing.

Both of them walked towards the village. Some, they were spotted by the inhabitants of the village.

"Welcome to the Frog King's Village! We hardly have any visitors" said an old man.

"Good morning sir. We were travellers from Vermillion City and got lost. Could you tell us where we are?" asked Professor Oak.

"I cant tell you that. We don't have route maps or connections to cities. But I think the nearest city is southwest" said the elder.

"But now that you are here, why dont you stay a few days?" continued the elder.

"Thank you sir. We will do that" said the Professor.

The old man led them into the village. It wa old-fashioned, made mostly of rocks, mud and lumber. He led them to a house in the corner, and said "Here. You can rest in this house for a while. Its not used, but we regularly clean it"

"Can you tell us about this village sir?" asked Professor Oak.

"It is in the middle of nowhere. No contact with the outside world. Which means no supply of Pokeballs, Potions, and other necessities. Hence, we are happy to receive visitors and trade with them" said the old man.

"We do have lots of extra stuff. What would you offer as a trade?" asked Professor Oak.

"We dont have a whole lot here, but we do have some Water Stones. Other than that, berries and some strange fruits" said the elder.

"Water Stones?" asked Alex. Water stones were not cheap.

"Yes. Some are available if you search for them in the mouth of the river up north. We will trade you 10 Pokeballs for a single Water Stone. What do you think?" asked Alex?

Water stones, even low quality ones, hosted atleast 100,000 Poke. Put Pokeballs were 200 Poke. This trade was robbery.

"We dont have a lot of Pokeballs with us I am afraid" said Professor Oak. Alex was about say he did have them, but the Professor shook his head, and Alex stayed silent.

"So there are a lot of Poliwag around huh? I must have seen thousands nearby, with dozens of them wandering around the village" said Alex.

"Ah yes. Poliwag are kind of the mascot of this village. There are a dozen colonies in the lakes up north. The smaller ones cant get the berries from the tall trees, so they come down to the village, where the villagers feed them" said the elder.

"So what is with the Poliwag? I mean I think I saw no other Pokemon for a while now" asked Alex.

"Ah, that is due to the Frog King. The Frog King expelled all the other species leaving only the gentle Poliwag line. No other Pokemon come here, due to the majesty of the Frog King" said the elder.
