Chapter 010

Alex spent two hours browsing the internet and learning about Pokemon. He kept learning about all kinds of Pokemon, constructing a profile about them, combining knowledge from his previous life and this one. He was initially worried about whether he would be able to remember all that he learnt, but he found that he seemed to have a photographic memory. Whatever he read seemed to exist in his head, or more specifically the black sphere in his head. He used this to his advantage, and made a written profile for each Pokemon he learnt about in his head, making a card for that Pokemon, detailing its Moves, Abilities, Type Matchups, legends, Evolution Information, and even publicly available information about its training and location in the wild along with every picture of it he saw. He focused primarily on the pokemon found in the original Kanto Dex of his previous life, and some Johto pokemon he knew were widespread in Kanto. He did not study the Pokemon of other regions as much as he figured they wouldn't be focused on during Kanto's PIT. He could study them later, if needed anyway

He closed the computer and yawned, as he was feeling sleepy. He decided to go find Nurse Joy and see if he could go back to Cherry Grove.

He walked back into the lobby and saw Roger and Nurse Joy chatting together. Next to Roger was his Vileplume, which he remembered was very friendly to children and would often play with them.

"Plume" greeted the Vileplume upon seeing me, when I was checking out its stats.

"Training Not Applicable? This must be because it is fully evolved. Probably the training is the fitness required for evolution then." though Alex.

Hearing Vileplume's call, Roger and Nurse Joy turned around and looked at me.

"Ah! Here you are, Alex! Nurse Joy told me you were stuck in the Pokemon Center when those Zubat came. They have passed our town and have reached the Bloodsap tree area probably. So we can go back to Cherry Grove now." said Roger.

"What happened? Why did those Zubat come early today?" questioned Alex?

"I can't say for certain, but a Crobat was spotted among the Zubat. Those Zubat use the blood of the Bloodsap trees for sustenance, but its only enough to keep them alive, its not enough nutrition for evolution. Hence this flock rarely has Golbat among them. This Crobat is either one that has come out of the deeper parts of Mount Moon or from Cerulean Cave, or it was released by an idiot trainer. With a Crobat leading the flock, the Zubat have grown a little emboldened and have started to travel before evening. Officer Jenny has asked for reinforcements already. A few rangers with Psychic-type Pokemon will arrive soon. We will set a trap to catch the Crobat on its return journey. But since we cannot be sure when exactly it will return, the curfew will be continued until further notice." said Roger. "For now, I will return you to Cherry Grove. Remember to tell Granny Jasmine about the curfew and ask her to not let anyone out until she receives news" he continued.

Alex nodded, and Roger waved at Nurse Joy and started walking out. Alex followed him.

He looked at Roger, remembering all the things he could from his previous memories.

Roger Towns was an orphan who grew up in Celadon City. When he grew up, there was no PIT, so all he could do was go door to door looking for sponsorship after he was asked to leave the orphanage after he came of age.

He was eventually sponsored by a local ranger force that was in charge of a rest station in the middle of the forest. He stayed an active duty ranger in that station for the next 25 years, after which he retired. By the time he retired, the rest station was attracting settlers who wanted to make it a town. This place was basically his home at this point, so he became one of the local supporters of establishing a town. When Hurik Town was eventually established, he was named the honorary Sheriff, both for his contribution as a ranger before and for his role in supporting the establishment of the town.

He refused to take any official roles or positions in the town. Instead, he used his savings and donations to establish an orphanage, which he named 'Cherry Grove'.

The first orphans taken in were the children of rangers who perished over the years in the station which later become Hurik Town.

He became a caretaker in the orphanage and took care of each child there as his own. Alex was one of the earlier batches of orphans received by Cherry Grove.
