It had been 2 weeks since that day. Axel had been doing a lot of training for him and his Pokemons.
Magikarp was doing its usual Splashing and tackling. Shedinja and Beedrill were going on to reach the rare rank. Charmeleon was also trying to give his best since the day he lost to Shedinja. Nidorina was also training hard and Gogoat was sleeping like a king. As for Bulbasaur, He was missing his home.
Bulbasaur had never left the forest. So for the first 3 days, it was very excited on seeing new things like the ocean, new forest, and new people. But after some time it started missing its parents and its home. Axel was letting it cool down for now. It was doing its training as Axel instructed but it was not giving its best for now.
Axel had no qualms about that. Bulbasaur was just a kid and it would take time for him to be a part of the family. Besides, it had brown potential and it was way more hardworking than Charmeleon when it was not evolved.
After having a conversation with Kent, Axel started to research Flint's Pokemons.
Gym leaders have many restrictions. 2 of them were, that they were only allowed to use the specific typing Pokemon when battling the contestant and they could only use Pokemon specific to the region.
Don't be misguided, Gym leaders have a variety of Pokemons from different regions and different typings. But they would only use specific typing and of the same region in the battle with the contestants.
In the Kanto region, there were 6 rock type Pokemons. They were:
1. Golem
2. Onix
3. Rhydon
4. Omaster
5. Kabutops
6. Aerodactyl
And Flint had all of them in rare ranked. All of them had double typings. The first 3 had ground typing, the next 2 had water typing and the last one had flying typing. Flint could use any 3 of those Pokemons in battle.
That was a total of 120 permutations and 20 combinations. Axel started to feel dizzy thinking about it.
After a long time of thinking, he just thought to go with the flow. He made his battle plan on each of Flint's Pokemon. But, for his plan to work, Shedinja and Beedrill had to be in the rare rank.
However, there was a twist in it. Shedinja had already been promoted to rare ranked. It happened a week before.

Shedinja had become a beast. Its stats and moves started to rapidly rise when Axel got his new talent 'Overgrowth'. The increase in its stats and moves also started to rapidly decline when it was promoted to rare ranked.
Axel didn't know why it happened. None of his other Pokemons had the same effect. Of course, none of them were as hardworking as Shedinja but the increase in Shedinja's stats was ridiculous.
'But why did the increase in its stats decline? Is it cause it was promoted to rare ranked? Or was it because Shedinja's hard work had accumulated before he got the talent and the effects are showing now?', Axel thought
'No, it definitely must be the second option.'

Ding!
The host has figured out the hidden function of the talent. The host has been rewarded. The host can now choose or not choose to bless the talent to his Pokemon
---
"Wow! I got a sweet reward. There are rewards like this too?", gasped Axel in a loud voice.
Axel then started to think of any other hidden function of the talent and the system. But it didn't give him any results. However, the reward was awesome. Axel could use this reward to his advantage.
All in all, Shedinja was now the most powerful Pokemon in his arsenal. Coupled with its intelligence and hard work, it would become a beast in the future.
Axel had been battling any trainers he could find in the journey but as per his calculation, Beedrill would still need a month to be promoted to rare ranked. It was also one of the most hardworking Pokemon in Axel's team after Shedinja but it barely had trained itself in battle.
Axel was now focusing on the ghost core of Shedinja. Cores were complicated as it was not introduced in Pokemon games but after researching them for a long time, Axel had proper knowledge about them.
First of all, a Pokemon can have more than 1 core as per its typing. For example, Shedinja was a Bug/Ghost type Pokemon. So, it could have Bug core and Ghost core. But any rational trainer would only train his Pokemon in 1 core. The reason?
It was freaking hard to improve the core mastery and having more than 1 core increases the risk of self-destruction. The risk of self-destruction was very dangerous cause if the multiple cores do not align with each other, they may destruct which would lead to immobilization or even kill the Pokemon.
Obviously, the Pokemon having more than 1 core is more powerful than the Pokemon having only 1 core but none of the trainers would want to take that risk.
But do you think that our protagonist would go through the normal route?
The answer was Yes.
This was not a Chinese cultivation novel or wuxia novel. He could not go against the odds and possibly wish for a fortunate encounter. If something happened to his Pokemons, he would not be able to forgive himself.
There were many ways one could improve the core mastery of a Pokemon. However, 3 of them were popular. They were:
