Was this his lucky day? He had not felt this lucky for a long time. He didn't have to do the hard work and just found a Pokemon with Brown potential.

"I want that one.", said Axel pointing at that particular Magikarp.

"Are you sure? You would have a high chance of not getting a good one.", said the old man

"Yes I am sure.", replied Axel

They got the Magikarp. The old man also provided a Pokeball and Axel caught the Magikarp.

Axel was not disappointed. He knew that Magikarp would be weak. It had 'Tackle', so that was a bonus.

"So, how much would it cost?"

"500,000"

"???? What? Why so much? It is just a random selection and people also buy it to eat. Are you telling me that people pay 500,000 for a single Magikarp to eat?"

"No, they only pay 500 but you are buying it to train it. So it is a fair deal. Its evolution would be powerful."

"But how are you so sure that I would train it? I might change my mind to just eat it."

"You just caught it in Pokeball. You cannot eat your own Pokemon. It is against the law."

Axel had got into a trap. He grudgingly paid 300,000 after some bargaining. He didn't have to care about the money now but bargaining was his habit.

Axel went to his hotel and browse the internet about Magikarp. He knew about it. But he didn't want to miss any little details.

He had all the details figured out already. But there were some interesting things like, it was believed that ancient Magikarps were much stronger than modern Magikarp and scientists had done research on it.

There was no conclusive proof of it. Some companies started selling Magikarp Candies telling them that it would help in evolving into a powerful Gyarados but it was just a hoax.

But recently a researcher published a theory. The theory emphasized the move, 'Splash'. 'Splash' was a move that did nothing. It was a move that every Magikarp learns and very few of them can learn other moves. The theory said that by regularly training Magikarp in 'Splash' would lead them to evolve into powerful Gyarados. But the theory was not proven.

So Axel had nowhere to go. He decided to train the Magikarp in an old way. Training its moves and increasing its stats. Axel believed that, just like Weedle and Kakuna, who were pretty much useless in their initial forms but were powerful after their final evolution, Magikarp would also need a lot of resources to evolve.

He searched it on the internet and he found some positive comments on it. Apparently, the gym leader of Cerulean City (Misty's father) did the same. He used a lot of resources to evolve his Magikarp into a powerful Gyarados and this Gyarados was now in his main team. The lucky thing was, that the Cerulean city had a shop called "Toise Shop" that sells these resources. This shop was owned by the Toise family and the gym leader of Cerulean City was also a part of the Toise family.

He decided to buy those resources.

"Hello, is anyone there?", asked Axel ringing the alarm in the reception. The place looked lavish but there was no one in the reception. The place was empty with no customers.

"Oh, I am sorry to keep you waiting."

Came a voice inside the door. The man revealed himself. He looked like he was in his 30s, fat with chubby cheeks, and was bald.

"Hi, I heard that you could get the resources for Magikarp. The one that the gym leader used to evolve his Magikarp. I am here for .."

"Are you Axel Blaze?"

"Yes, I am. But how do you know my name?", asked Axel with a surprised voice.

"Cause you are famous. You are the famous researcher who invented the 2 new eeveelutions. Hey Kent, come over here, we have a celebrity here."

The bald man started to call his friend. Axel was surprised. He knew he was famous now but not many people knew his face. It was surprising to be treated like a celebrity.

Another man came from the door. This man was also in his 30s. But he was well built, had an orange hair color, and looked quite handsome. When he was the man called Kent, he felt pressure. He felt difficulty in breathing like the person was some mighty being.

"Youuu.. You are…"

"Yes, I am Kent. I am the current gym leader of Cerulean City. Hello Axel, it is nice meeting you."

Axel was starstrucked. This was the most powerful gym leader in all over Kanto region. He had not seen Misty's dad in the anime but seeing the most powerful gym leader all over the region made him shutter his words.

"Look over here Kent, we have a fan.. Haha." the old man started to laugh.

"Stop it, Ward. You are making the kid nervous. How can I help you, Axel?"

"Do you work here?"

"No, but I am a part of the Toise family. So, I come here sometimes. So, do you want to buy something?"

"Yes, I am looking for the materials that you used to evolve your Magikarp. I heard that you could find it here?"

"You are correct, but I suggest you not buy it.", said Kent

"Why is that?"

"Cause it is Fake" replied Ward

"Fake? Why are you selling fake materials?"

"We are not selling fake materials. Those materials would also help Magikarp. But their efficiency is far less than my method. The reason we are not selling it is cause it is very expensive. Normal people could not afford it.", replied Kent

"But I could sell the real method and the materials to you." Kent continued.

"But Kent, we cannot sell it. The family would not allow it.", said Ward.

"Shut up Ward. It is my method and I can sell it to whoever I want.", said Kent in an irritated voice

"Ok, I want to buy it.", said Axel

"Good, it is going to cost you"

"How much money?"

"Oh, I don't care about the money. I want….
