Dining with Gym Leaders

Those 50 swords had drained Alakazam's stamina. Axel knew that it could still fight but it would be of no use. Nidorino 1 was vastly stronger than Alakazam. It may even be a King-ranked Pokemon. Seeing that there was no way out, Axel said, "I withdraw." and took Alakazam inside the ball.

"Your Alakazam is strong. It seemed to have a lot of experience than your other Pokemons.", commented Giovanni.

"That was a good match, Axel. You have progressed a lot since the last time I met you.", came a voice behind him. It was Koga. Koga and the unknown spectator had come down on the stadium as the battle was over.

"Yes, your Alakazam was awesome. How did you train it in electric typing when it is a psychic type?", asked the spectator.

Axel just stood there and didn't choose to reply. He didn't know the man though he thought that the man was familiar.

"Ohh sorry, let me introduce you to Morgan Surge. He is the gym leader of Vermilion City.", said Koga introducing the spectator.

'So, that is where I know him from.', thought Axel. He must have seen some pictures of Morgan Surge.

"So, how did you train it in electric-type attacks?", asked Morgan again.

"Training secret. I choose not to reveal it.", replied Axel.

"Oh man! Come on tell me. I am really interested in it.", said Morgan again.

"Morgan, you have to respect Axel's privacy. What kind of gym leader you are if you don't?", said Koga supporting Axel.

"Alright.", sighed Morgan.

"All I can tell you is that you may not find another Alakazam doing the same thing that Light did. Normal Alakazam would not be able to do it.", said Axel.

Morgan sighed again.

Normally, when a Pokemon masters there core, it would innovate or modify moves as per its core type. It would be next to impossible for a Pokemon to do it off other cores.

That was why Axel was surprised when Beedrill used combined 'Calm mind' and 'Minimize' to make 'Resolve'. However, Axel knew that it was only possible due to system powers.

Alakazam was doing it with the help of its psychic power. Psychic was one of the most versatile typing to ever exist. It could help a Pokemon sense the infinity energy around nature much more faster. That was why Alakazam could learn 'Thunderbolt' and 'Flamethrower'. And the main component for that was it was 'Hidden power' typing which was also psychic.

"I am sorry for prying your secrets. I came here cause I have heard a lot about you. I am an old man but a curious one. I can't wait to fight you for a gym battle myself. When are you coming to my gym?", asked Morgan.

"Actually I planned to visit your gym after winning this but didn't expect to lose this one.", said Axel.

"And why do you think that you lost?", asked Giovanni.

"Well, I lost, didn't I?"

"Haha, you are a funny kid.", said Giovanni and took out the earth badge and hand it to Axel.

"But…"

"Axel you won fair and square. That Beedrill and Nidorino were from my main team. Both of them were King-ranked Pokemons. Of course, you would not win against them. If you did, it would be a miracle.", explained Giovanni.

"Then why did you use them?", asked Axel. He knew that those Pokemons were far stronger. He just wanted to ask why Giovanni did that.

"It is a duty of a Gym leader. Normally gym leaders would fight against the challengers to test them. However, it is also a duty of a gym leader to teach them.

After you defeated my Sandslash, I already knew that you were going to win this gym battle. So, I took a different route to teach you your shortcomings and mistake.

Besides, using a King ranked Pokemon in a 3rd gym battle already break the rules so you have technically won it the moment I took out my Beedrill.", explained Giovanni.

Axel took the badge and put it in his badge pocket. He wanted to turn and lift the badge just like Ash did every time he won but he controlled himself.

"Now, as per the rules, you would be getting 8 million Poke dollars from me. I have another idea. If you choose to forgo the money I would be willing to give you a gift.", proposed Giovanni.

"I would accept the gift.", said Axel without any thought.

He was low on cash but he knew that it would change soon. 50% of the resources from the forest and the solution of shadow Pokemon would earn him a lot. He would literally be swimming in money.

Flint had also given him a Hard stone as a gift and it was a naturally formed one. He expected a good surprise from Giovanni too.

"Good decision. It would arrive at your hotel tomorrow morning. Now why don't we go to eat something. I am starving.", said Giovanni and then started to move.

Koga and Morgan started to follow him. Axel, not knowing what to do also started to follow them. Giovanni was treating him like an old friend. He was trying to get used to it.

In a lavish restaurant,

Giovanni, Koga, Morgan and Axel were sitting at a table filled with delicious food. The amount of food was shocking but Morgan had already finished half of it.

"How much can you eat?", asked Koga in disdain. Everyone in the restaurant was looking at them. Morgan had made a huge fuss in the restaurant.

"You think this is a lot? Wait till you see my son, LT. surge. He eats more than me."

'So, they are father and son.', thought Axel.

Morgan and LT. looked very similar. Both of them had huge muscles and the same hair style. LT Surge was the gym leader of Vermilion City in the games and anime. Gyms were normally passed on to the family so it was no wonder that they were father and son.

"So Axel, have you heard about Brine?"
