A/N: I would be uploading 1 chapter each day from today. Uploading 2 chapters a day burned me a lot and it limited my time to think creatively.
Previously it was 1500 words each chapter. Now, it would be 2000-3000 words for each chapter. So, you my readers would not losing anything. It is just the pressure to upload 2 chapters got me.
2000-3000 words per chapter would start from chapter name 'Terrified Clefable'. It would take some time to get to that in webnovel. You can subscribe to my pat-reon channel to get the latest updates.
Now on to story.
-----------------
"What is it?" asked Rome.
"Charizard is saying that it wants to see the remaining Charizards of the tribe and help them. I have to go. I know it doesn't concern you, so you can just move to the base. I would catch up with you later."
"Axel, I may not be as strong as you. I may also be a coward. But I am loyal to the bone. I am alive because of you and your Charizard. So, how can I be so selfish to leave you at a time of need? I am going with you," said Rome.
Axel tried to convince him that it was not necessary, yet Rome was adamant to join him. Frankly, Axel wanted to do it alone. Maybe he could find something there and he could keep it. But seeing that Rome was not going to back out, he decided to take him too.
"Ahh… Axel, do you know the way to get there?" asked Rome.
They had gone to the cave of Charizard, but the place was empty except for monstrous potential eggs. They had no idea where the other Charizards were.
"Oh, don't worry. Charizard can tell where they are," said Axel.
"Roaarrr?"
Charizard gave a low roar, not understanding a thing.
"Why don't we eat right now and move with a full belly?" suggested Axel.
"That is a good idea. I will go get some firewood," said Rome.
They had already caught the dead Darmanitan, and now they were going to eat. They had not eaten anything for 2 days. Rome was happy to eat something. He was famished.
Rome went to get the firewood.
"Just go along with me. I know the way. It is just a quest of the system."
Axel told all the things to Charizard in the absence of Rome. Charizard was okay with it. It didn't know what went on in its father's mind, but so far, they had brought results.
Even though it had reached pseudo-king rank and become very powerful, it was still humble, unlike before. It had already known that this power was only possible due to its father, and if it started to be arrogant again, it would have to suffer again. It didn't want to feel powerless like before.
Rome arrived with firewood, and they started to roast the Darmanitan. It was not a good feeling to kill a Pokemon, skin it, roast it, and then eat it. If Axel had a Darmanitan as his Pokemon, he would probably not do it even if he was dying of hunger.
But they had no choice right now. They needed to fill their stomach, and wild Pokemons were their only source of food. Killing a Pokemon and eating, and eating at a restaurant were totally different things. At least in a restaurant, they don't have to see the killing. The meat would just be on a fancy plate.
They had their fill, and now they were ready to complete the mission. The quest said that Axel had to help the Charizard tribe and kill 90% of the Darmanitans.
"When we reach there, just tell them that you have defeated the leader Darmanitan and you want to help them," said Axel to Charizard.
It took around 3 hours till they saw a few Charizards hiding under another cave. Charizard came near them and announced its presence with a roar.
ROARRRR.
Those Charizards slowly came to greet them. Charizard started to talk to them. Axel could not possibly understand what they were talking about, but he could get the gist of it.
The Charizard tribe had lost their leader, and they were hunted down by the Darmanitan tribe. So, these Charizard were on the run. After hearing that Axel's Charizard had killed the leader Darmanitan, they were very happy.
Axel called out Alakazam, and he translated their conversation.
'It turns out that they were just a group who had made a run. There are other groups too. The Darmanitan tribe is on the east side,' said Alakazam telepathically.
"Hmm.. Light; you, Venusaur, and Gogoat would help them find the remaining tribe while I, Charizard, and others would go deal with the Darmanitan tribe. We would all meet at the Charizard tribe by the end of the night," said Axel.
Rome also said that he would help to find other Charizards.
"Charizard, let's go and deal with them," said Axel.
He sat on its back, and they flew towards the Darmanitan for revenge. Even though Charizard was not a part of the tribe, it still felt uneasy seeing the pitiful condition of other Charizards. It was known for its pride, arrogance, and power.
So naturally, it felt that its species were also similar. Seeing fear in their eyes made it mad. It may not have any emotional attachment to the tribe, but it was going to get revenge for them.
They were told that there were around 30 Darmanitan in their tribe. There were around 60 of them before the war between the Charizard and Darmanitan tribes. Even though they had won the war, they had lost many. As per the system, he should purge 90% of the tribe. So, he had to finish up 27 Darmanitan. That would be a massive undertaking.
Axel asked for as much information as he could from these Charizards. As per them, there were around 5 pseudo-king rank Pokemons, 15 elemental rank Pokemons, and the rest were not fully evolved or rare rank.
After traveling for 2 hours, they reached the destination. Of course, they didn't come out in the open to challenge them. Defeating 27 Pokemons was not an easy task. Axel had to plan every step. Since it was not the top of the mountain, Axel could use other Pokemons. There were Shedinja, Nidorino, Charizard, Absol, Tauros, Mamoswine, Pidgeotto, and Gyarados.
He could not use Beedrill or Steelix, and the rest had gone on the search for members of the Charizard tribe. Axel didn't want to face all 30 Pokemons at once, but there didn't seem to be any other choice.
If they started to corner and fight single Pokemon at a time, they had to do it discreetly, which seemed to be impossible. The place was big, but it seemed to be guarded. The security was not so high, but it was still there. There was only 1 Pokemon that could discreetly fight without any traces, and that was Shedinja.
"Let's wait for the night. We will strike at night. First, I want you to use 'Shadow sneak' and 'Shadow jump' to monitor them. Those Charizards did say that there were 30 of them, but I want to be sure. Also, count the numbers of pseudo-king rank, elemental rank, rare rank, uncommon rank, and baby Pokemon," said Axel to Shedinja.
"Shed…," it said and disappeared into the shadows.
Shedinja came back after an hour.
'The numbers were wrong. As per Marcus, there are 47 of them. Their ranks are: Pseudo-king rank - 5, Elemental rank - 20, Rare rank - 5, Uncommon rank - 7, Common rank - 3, and Baby rank - 7. Baby Pokemons are tightly guarded. There are 2 elemental rank Pokemons on the east gate and 2 elemental rank Pokemon on the south gate guarding the territory.'
That was what Axel could get after Shedinja tried its best to explain. Since Alakazam was not here, he could not understand it.
"Hmmm… That is a pickle. As per the law that Mew said, we cannot actively kill baby rank Pokemons. The system said that I would have to purge 90% or more Darmanitans. So, how can I do it?" mumbled Axel.
---
Ding!
Those 90% don't include baby rank Pokemons
---
The system gave an immediate response. Axel felt relieved from the message. Baby rank Pokemons were those Pokemons who were not even 3 months old. Frankly, he didn't want to kill baby rank Pokemons.
There was a saying on earth that 'A child should not be blamed for the mistake of his father.'
They were just babies. They had done nothing wrong. Killing innocent Pokemons was not his thing. He was only doing this because of the system quest.
Axel started to make plans.
"Marcus, I want you to use 'Shadow sneak' and 'Shadow jump' to reach near the guards and use 'Hypnosis' to put them to sleep. Since we are attacking at night, 'Hypnosis' would be very effective on elemental rank Pokemons. After that, you would use 'Ally switch' on them and bring them here, and we would finish them up.
Try to do as many sneak attacks as possible, but we could not completely assassinate the whole tribe with this strategy. After we are discovered, we would do the following. Flappy, you would finish up common rank Pokemons as fast as you can. Then you would help Tauros, Absol, and Gyarados in fighting common rank and rare rank Pokemons.
Marcus would focus on elemental rank Pokemons. Nidorino, Charizard, and Mamoswine would focus on pseudo-king rank Pokemon. Nidorino and Mamoswine would each take on 2 of them. Charizard would finish up the remaining one and then help Nidorino and Mamoswine."
Axel shared his battle plan with them.
'Ally switch' was a handy move. It would switch the places between allies. Both the Pokemon would have to agree to it. But if the target Pokemon had already fainted, what would happen? The answer was simple; it would just not work.
But that was where Shedinja came in. It had recently leveled up 'Ally switch' to level 40, and this let it do exactly that. If a Pokemon faints, it could use 'Ally switch' even if it didn't want to when it was awake.
This was the most convenient plan that Axel could come up with.
Suddenly, "Shed… Shed…"
"What happened Marcus?" asked Axel.
Shedinja turned to the right side and tried to show him what it meant.
"What is happening? Why are a bunch of them going out?"
