Pokémon: Worlds Divided

Leon was driving on the road when a powerplant exploded suddenly. It was a catastrophic meltdown and Leon was caught in it and killed. In that instant, Leon's vision was clouded with darkness before he heard an unfamiliar voice calling out to him. When Leon came to it, he found that he wasn't in his body anymore but the body of a 14-year-old boy with the same name. To top it off, this wasn't his world. How will Leon fare in this new world?

Leon went to his room to examine the system's map mechanism. Leona and Lars were examining the Pokemon in the guidebook.

Leon checked Nosepass and Aron's bodies to ensure that they were alright. They had taken a beating from Beldum earlier.

Leon thought for a moment, he didn't have a problem going out again. The best time to visit the Wetlands was during a downpour.

"The day is still young, I need to be active as much as I can." Leon stood up in a hurry, he had initially thought about taking a nap.

The streets were fairly vacant on this day, so this was probably the best time. But then Leon thought about it; he may be rushing things too much.

"Ah, I'm too eager. I should just go train outside or something." Leon recalled some Iron scraps around and inside the factory.

He left the room and headed to the manufacturing area. This factory was originally a Steel factory before they relocated the business elsewhere.

Leon arrived in the area with all three of his Pokemon. They used iron to create steel, but steel wasn't as good for Steel Pokemon as Iron was.

Upon entering the expansive manufacturing area, Leon was greeted by a multitude of iron and steel beams, sheets, slabs, scraps, and other various metal objects.

"There's crude iron and a lot of rusted iron present. These metals are something they should avoid consuming." Feeding rusty iron to them was like feeding a human spoiled food.

Beldum had already eaten, so he wasn't prioritizing it right now.

"Okay, don't eat any of the rusty iron. That isn't good for you, it will make you sick." Leon checked a few iron scraps to avoid rust.

Aron and Nosepass proceeded to eat the iron scraps after Leon's warning. Aron and Nosepass knew what was spoiled and what wasn't.

Leon walked around and started collecting iron scraps, sheets, and slabs. He placed them into his Inventory for later feeding.

"Ah, yes, I can save money this way. What a fortune it is to live in a steel and iron factory, haha!" Nosepass and Aron continued to indulge themselves.

Leon seemed to have thought of something. The local store contained products such as rust remover. With this in mind, Leon could solve his Iron problem. Leon quickly got to work and moved the rusty iron to a pile.

There were too many heavy, immovable rusty scraps, sheets, and slabs. Leon spent the next thirty minutes gathering metallic objects and warned Aron and Nosepass against overindulging.

This was especially so when it came to the glutton Aron, who sometimes ate just because. However, Leon didn't trust them to be so responsible, so he recalled the duo after a period of time.

After which, Leon just collected what metallic scraps he could store. The inventory couldn't maintain items that were too large.

At least, not yet.

"I'll have to find the time to buy rust remover to make the iron edible." Leon left the manufacturing area soon after.

"Oh, this Pokemon is so beautiful, but it evolves from such an ugly fish. How does this even make sense?" Leona said in surprise.

"Look at this Pokemon, it looks so lazy, but its attack, speed, and health bar are so friggin high."

"It is lazy, look at its only ability, Truant." Leona pointed at the page and said.

He could hear Leona and Lars at the table talking about Pokemon enthusiastically. Leon smiled at the sight before going to the bathroom to wash his hands.

"I should train these guys a bit before leaving tomorrow. I want to do some evasion training with Aron and Beldum."

Leon thought it was a good idea for the upcoming gym leader. He wanted to practice by throwing rocks at Aron and Beldum, while they dodged.

After all, Roxanne's signature move was Rock Tomb.

Though rock-type moves are resistant against steel types. Leon believed Roxanne could be running other moves to deal with steel or other types of Pokemon.

"Perhaps her strategy was to lower my speed before beating me down with super-effective moves."

Leon had basically thrown the game logic out the window at this point. However, Leon still believed that Pokemon remained in the exact location as they were in the game.

He hoped.

"Ah, I should take a shower." Leon went to the locker room of the factory, which happen to be a shower room as well.

His sister did laundry on weekends, so his underwear was always clean. There was a local laundry mat for such things.

After washing up, Leon pulled out his new toothbrush and proceeded to brush his teeth. Leon flossed and used the tongue scrapper to ensure that he removed every bit of waste.

Once these things were accomplished, Leon went toward the kitchen and handed them their new toothbrushes.

Lars and Leona thanked Leon for the new toothbrushes before he sat at the table. He began to think about the aptitude of Pokemon.

So far he had seen things such as F, F+, F++, and so on. Leon vaguely understood that a single letter of aptitude was the lowest within that rank. Of course, it was followed by One plus and then a Double plus aptitude.

Afterward, it was on the next lettered rank.

'It seems F-rank is the lowest possible rank when it comes to aptitude. Was it possible to raise the aptitude, and if so, how?'

Leon wondered about this, so he asked the system. However, there was no response from the system.

'It seems I will have to figure everything out myself.' Leon stroked his chin with a smile and thought.

Leon gazed at his siblings who were still enjoying the Pokemon in the book.

"I don't really want to interrupt you, but what do you think about being Pokemon trainers?" Leon needed to know the answer, he really hoped that they would become one.

Leona and Lars stopped what they were doing and gazed at Leon with widened eyes.

"I'm firm on this, I want to become a Pokemon trainer," Lars's expression was so grave and serious that it almost gave Leon a scare.

"I really want to but I'm a little scared." Leona truly wanted to be a trainer, but she was hesitant due to fear.

"That's understandable. After all, you've heard many strange rumors about them. Pokemon are more friendly than you think. How do you think I was able to adapt so fast and catch Pokemon?"

Leon went on, explaining that he threw away his fear and embraced the world for what it was. They shared this world with Pokemon, there was no use in being scared.

Upon hearing this, Leona seemed to sink into deep thought. She had skimmed and read through the manual.

"I-I'll give it a try, I want to catch a Pokemon to become my companion. So, I want to give it a try if I can."

Leon and Lars were surprised, but she had always been terrified of Pokemon. It was to the extent that she didn't even want to leave the factory.

However, she persevered and would leave to shop for food, do laundry, and do other chore-like activities. This was the same for Lars, who worked hard to make money with his cheap odd job for his family.

Leon really appreciated these Two despite them not being his actual family. But they were his family, his new family that he should cherish.

"Don't worry, when we go catch Pokemon, we'll be together. There are more friendly Pokemon than you think, just wait and see."

"I want to do it but I still need some time to think about it." Leona couldn't change her mind on a whim.

"Alright. Fair enough." Leon knew these things couldn't be rushed, so he could only wait.

"Take your time, Leona, no rush." Lars nodded and patted her shoulder.

"You guys keep studying, make sure you remember the weaknesses, the types of these Pokemon, and more." Leon was adamant about them learning about Pokemon.

The manual taught them about weakness and the Pokemon's type. It also explained how Pokemon could take neutral damage depending on their type.

"Right, we'll learn all we can from the manual," Leona said seriously.

"Of course, I need to know everything I can to become a Pokemon trainer." Lars nodded and said.

"I'm glad to hear it. I will test you guys in Two days to see your progress." Leon stood up and went to his room.

Both Leona and Lars were stunned to hear about a test.

Leon didn't notice their expressions before walking into their sleeping quarters.

"I'll train at a later date, but right now I need some more sleep." Leon quickly fell asleep after lying down.
