"Take him out!"

"As long as you defeat him, that Scyther will be yours!"

"Not just that—the powerful Charmeleon and the Eevee in his arms will also be yours."

"You'll inherit everything he has, and you'll become the strong Trainer you've always dreamed of being."

"All you have to do is strike him from behind when he's defenseless!"

A cold, insistent voice echoed in Abin's mind. Though he couldn't pinpoint its source, the words seemed to burrow into his thoughts, and before long, they began to make sense to him.

This was his chance. The dream of becoming a powerful Trainer was just one step away—all he needed to do was have Beedrill attack and eliminate this arrogant man standing in his way.

"Beedrill, rush forward and use Bug Bite!"

Abin's sudden command shattered the silence. His Beedrill, though confused, obeyed and launched into an attack.

"Eevee, Yawn! Charmeleon, Flamethrower! Take it down!"

Tyson reacted immediately, his calm command betraying no surprise.

In truth, Tyson had been expecting something like this. He had deliberately exposed his back to test Abin's intentions. Abin's timing had been far too convenient, arriving just after Tyson had defeated a wild Pokémon. Tyson's instincts, honed by countless encounters, had made him suspect that Abin was waiting to take advantage of the situation.

Under Eevee's Yawn, Beedrill's movements slowed. The fiery blast from Charmeleon's Flamethrower hit it squarely.

"Eevee, Helping Hand! Charmeleon, finish it with Flamethrower!"

The energy from Eevee's Helping Hand enveloped Charmeleon, amplifying its fiery attack. Flames erupted, engulfing Beedrill completely.

"No! Stop!"

Abin's scream rang out as his Beedrill collapsed, charred and barely breathing. Charmeleon didn't stop until the battle was won.

"Charmeleon!" Tyson's sharp tone stopped the Fire-type from delivering a finishing blow. But the battle had already taken its toll—Beedrill lay on the ground, unable to move.

Without warning, Charmeleon pinned Abin to the ground, its sharp claws pressed against his throat. One wrong move, and the result would be fatal.

Faced with the looming threat of death, Abin's composure shattered. Trembling uncontrollably, his true nature was laid bare.

"Why did you attack me?" Tyson asked coldly, his voice like steel as he confiscated all of Abin's Poké Balls.

A gleaming dagger appeared in Tyson's hand, reflecting his unwavering resolve.

"I-I don't know!" Abin stammered, his voice cracking. "There was… a voice in my head, telling me to act! I didn't want to—b-but you took that Scyther! It was my only hope!"

His trembling grew worse, and his tone shifted from pleading to accusatory.

"It's your fault! All your fault! You already have everything—wealth, power, and the status of an Alliance Trainer. Why did you have to take my last chance?!"

Abin's rant devolved into incoherent muttering as his desperation consumed him.

Tyson's eyes hardened. Without another word, he drove the dagger into Abin's chest, ending his suffering swiftly.

Charmeleon unleashed its flames, reducing Abin's body to ashes. Tyson stood silently, watching as the wind carried them away.

For a moment, a pang of unease passed through him. Staring at Abin's final moments, Tyson couldn't help but see a shadow of himself.

If not for Shadow's intervention, would his life have been even worse than Abin's?

This is what the Alliance calls "peace."

Though all Trainers were ostensibly part of the Alliance, the hierarchy was unmistakable.

At the top were the Direct Alliance Trainers, like Tyson. Achieving this status required either lineage—parents who were also Direct Trainers—or significant contributions to the Alliance, such as military merit or substantial donations.

This privilege granted perks like receiving a starter Pokémon from the Alliance, free lodging and treatment at Pokémon Centers, and priority for prestigious roles like police officers, investigators, or rangers.

On the other hand, ordinary Trainers—despite bearing the same title—enjoyed none of these privileges. For them, the journey was infinitely harder. They could challenge Gyms and enter tournaments, but their road to recognition was grueling, often requiring immense effort to accumulate contribution points for even a chance to rise in rank.

For the fortunate few who succeeded, their children would be born into privilege, ensuring the cycle continued.

The system was ingenious, fostering competition and progress within the Alliance. Yet it was also deeply flawed. Those with wealth and influence easily secured Direct Trainer status, while the less fortunate, like Abin, were left to struggle endlessly.

Abin's ashes vanished completely in the breeze. Tyson didn't linger.

To ensure he never ended up like that, Tyson knew only one path: to grow stronger, no matter what it took.
