(XXXII) The Mother's Egg

Isaac hung the Draconic Visage over his head as it rested against his chest. He stood up and followed the Dragon Tamer Clan Elder down the steps below the Dragon Shrine. The stairs led deep into the earth as torches lined the walls every few meters.

After descending the stairs at the bottom was a reinforced double door with torches on both sides. Each door had an octagonal indent in them as the Elder stood in front of the right door and Isaac followed instinctively as he stood in front of the left.

Isaac stared at the Elder pull his medallion out from his yukata, take it off, and press it into the impression, prompting him to do the same quickly. Gears began spinning behind the door as numerous mechanisms began clicking into place.

A stone carving of a Dragonite and Salamence, one from each door slowly came to life as they began flying against the doors as more gears began spinning and pins were locked into the place as the door began opening slowly, disappearing into the walls.

"After so long..." The Elder muttered to himself as he stared off into the past as he stepped through the doorway. The instance his foot stepped onto the ornate stone bricks the dark hallways instantly lit up as the dozen torches on both sides lit up.

He led Isaac through the hallway into another large room where dozens of braziers and torches burst aflame lighting the massive room. In the center was a gigantic Dragonite carved from stone sitting in front of a meteorite of similar material that it held between its legs.

Naturally occurring were the same symbols and Dragon-type Pokémon were blazing red as if alive on the meteorite that looked exactly like the Stone Monument he and Lance had prayed to the last two days.

"I was no older than you are now when my grandfather brought me down here for the last time..." The Elder proclaimed as they approached the center where the Dragonite and meteorite lay.

"There is a dark secret that lies within the Dragon Tamer Clan, child. I had hoped it was lost to time, but..." He paused for a moment, standing still along the pathway as if consumed by the past, "It seems some secrets just wont remain hidden..."

"What happened?" Isaac asked as he reached forward and consoled the Elder by rubbing his shoulder.

"Jealousy, child... Jealousy..." The Elder said, shaking his head before he continued on the path, "I don't know how, but you must have some connection to the Dragon Tamer Clan and because of that, you are allowed to kneel before the Dragon Monument and offer a prayer."

He approached the meteorite and placed his hand upon it as the strange markings burst with life and shimmered brightly as the Elder closed his eyes and began muttering in a language Isaac didn't understand.

He turned and bowed to Isaac, "Place your hand upon the Mother's Egg and close your eyes, clearing your mind and listen, child. Not with your ears, but with your mind's eye! Reach out and feel it!"

Isaac bit his lip and hesitated as he stepped forward and reached his arm out. He hovered his palm above the meteorite and took a deep breath, steading his racing heart as he closed his eyes and pressed his hand against the cold stone.

His heart was pounding in his chest as he felt a warmth spread throughout his body. It burst through his hand and up his arm before spreading rapidly throughout the rest of his body. His mind began racing as he began to panic, his eyes darting left and right below his closed eyelids.

"Still yourself, child. All will be well..." The Elder whispered and placed his hand on his shoulder.

Immediately a sensation washed through him reverberating from his shoulder and he felt an overwhelming calmness still over his mind, his world quickly shrunk and silence surrounded him. The loneliness was suffocating as he couldn't even hear his own heart pounding in his chest.

His eyes shot open as bright light flooded the darkness as an ethereal woman with flowing blonde hair and golden eyes extended her bare porcelain arm reaching out to him as her transparent silk dress loosely draped around her body and split around her waist slipping around the front and back of her legs.

She floated as she reached out, a blinding light behind her growing brighter and stronger.

The Elder stood in amazement as he witnessed Isaac's eyes emitting a bright golden light and the same symbols from the Mother's Egg were rapidly scrolling through his eyes.

The meteorite cracked at the top as a chunk fell between Isaac and the Elder causing him to stumble back to avoid it as he gasped, covering his mouth with one hand and throwing the other behind him.

Isaac crumpled to the floor his eyes dimmed and closed as he fell unconscious.

The Elder stroked his beard as he stared down at Isaac, furrowing his brow, "This..!" He muttered as he knelt next to the young boy and touched his forehead before crossing his legs and taking a seat next to him, pulling out a pipe and lighting it as he watched the boy.

Fifteen minutes later, Isaac awoke and shot up, sitting as he began looking around as he leaned against his arm, "Elder... What happened..?"

The Elder sighed as he exhaled smoke and stashed his pipe away, "You haven't awakened yet child. Worry not, in time it will happen naturally."

Isaac explained what happened as the Elder nodded and stroked his beard, listening intently before he spoke, "You have been called by The Mother. You were disconnected from her because your spirit isn't strong enough to withstand her presence."

"I wasn't able to offer my prayer..." Isaac said with disappointment as he stared at the stone bricks, sulking his shoulders and hanging his head.

"She heard your prayer, child... It wasn't spoken through your lips or your mind, but your spirit!" The Elder said and groaned as he stood up, his bones creaking and popping as he turned toward the exit, "It is time we return and see what answers have been gifted by The Mother..."

Isaac quickly stood and followed the Elder through the long passageway and up the stairs, returning to the Dragon Shrine. The other higher-ups in the Dragon Tamer Clan were prostrating themselves on both sides of the long crimson and gold rug that ran the distance of the entrance hallway.

The Elder snapped his fingers as everyone stood at attention before walking out of the building where the rest of the clan stood. Hundreds of Dragon-type Pokémon were gathered.

The Thirteen Clan Heads stood next to their partners of Charizard, Dragonite, Kingdra, Flygon, Salamence, Altaria, Garchomp, Haxorous, Hydreigon, Goodra, Noivern, Kommo-o, and Dragapult.

Lance, stood next to his Dragonite and his Uncle stood beside Kingdra with Clair attached to his leg. Isaac stared in amazement at the sight of the ceremony. A brilliant light shone from the hole above the Dragon Holy Lands and created a beam of light.

The Clan Elder stepped forward and down the steps proclaiming loudly, "The Mother's Egg has received a new prayer!" The Dragon Pokémon began roaring in happiness, sending off powerful attacks into the air.

The Elder turned to Isaac and held his hand out, "Child, please, step into the center of her light and bathe within her glory. If deemed worthy, she will bestow upon you your answer!" He stepped forward and grabbed Isaac and pushed him along the way.

Isaac's heart pounded as he was forced into the beam of light and slowly stepped into the center. The air began shimmering as the light grew brighter and sparkles began springing to life and fading repeatedly around him.

His breath was ragged as he struggled to breathe, strongly swallowing as his heart tried jumping up his throat. The light quickly shrank until it was a small beam in front of Isaac as an orb of light began descending slowly.

It was too intense to see what the light was but everyone's breath was still as they stared in anticipation. It floated in front of Isaac's face as he raised his hands, cupping them together as the light burst forth brightly for a brief moment and Isaac felt the weight of a small Pokémon in his hands.

A small, blue bipedal dragon-like Pokémon sat in the palm of his hands. It had a big mouth filled with sharp teeth and no neck, with arms that started just past its jaws. It had a red underbelly stretching from its abdomen to the bottom of its jaw. Two horns resembled jet engines, each with a light blue stripe in the middle on the side of its head. On top of its head is a dorsal fin, which had a notch on it.
