Chapter 8: Viridian Forest, Part 2

The giant shadow that loomed over them belonged to a giant Snorlax.
Drool was escaping its mouth, it was eyeing the Curry Cobalt was cooking.
''Oh, I see. Hey Snorlax, if you like, I'll let you have this. But! I want you to join my team. Think about it, all this tasty food whenever you wake up? For all our journey's together?'' Says Cobalt.
''Snorlax?'' Snorlax says nothing more, simply placing a hand under his chin in a typical thoughtful pose, before picking up the cauldron and swallowing the. Food.
The Big lummox then pats it's tummy and falls flat on it's back.
And starts snoring.
''Cobalt, are you sure about capturing a Snorlax? Even just one will severely impact our funds.'' Says Acerola.
''We'll, I'd likely need to find a perfect balance between calories and nutrition, but it's not impossible that I couldn't create a premium grade Snorlax Feed. Hey Rapooh, from now on, keep an eye out for Lum, Figy, Razz, Kelpsy, Tamato, Spelon, and Occa Berries.'' Says Cobalt, deciding to try.
Walking up to Snorlax, Cobalt takes out a Pokèball and knocks it against Snorlax's Shoulder.
The Pokèball wriggles, and after three times, it makes the successful capture sound.
Bringing his Pokèdex to hand, he scan's Snorlax, and finds a number of moves that vary in typing.

''Interesting, It's stats are higher, and has many moves. Either Snorlax here has been specially bred, or it has been trained before by another trainer who knew what the fuck they were doing.'' Cobalt notes.
''I hope you don't regret this Cobalt.'' Says Acerola.
''Who knows, at any rate, let's go hunting, Rapooh lead us to either a Pikachu or a Scyther for now.''
''Ho there Stranger!''
Turning to the source of a voice, a samurai exits a bush.
''A Samurai? Here?'' Cobalt mutters.
''If you're looking for a Scyther, then defeat me in battle and I'll show you the territory of one.'' Says The Samurai.
''Very well. But let's make it more interesting, a Double Battle sound good to you?'" Asks Cobalt.
''A two on two team battle? Very well, Pinsir and Metapod lets go.'' Says Ssmurai.
''Rockruff, you and Pidgey!'' Says Cobalt, causing Weedle, Bulbasaur, Meowth, and Eevee to look sad. ''Next time guys.'' Cobalt promises.
''Pinsir use Quick Attack to get in close and then use X-Scissor on Rockruff, Metapod use Electroweb on Pidgey!'' Says Samurai.
''Pidgey use Heatwave,!'' Cobalt orders.
''Say what!?'' Samurai gapes, not expecting it.
''Rockruff when it hits, use Fire Fang on Metapod!'' Says Cobalt.
''Metapod Harden quickly!''
''Bad idea! Pidgey, use Toxic on Pinsir!'' Says Cobalt, switching attack targets.
''Dodge it!'' Samurai says.
''Rockruff, use Iron Tail on Metapod, and Pidgey use Twister on them both as soon as Rockruff is clear.'' Says Cobalt,
The Pinsir and Metapod, aleady weakened by the Fire-Type attacks, as well as Toxic have slowed down considerably, the powerful Twister sends them hurtling towards the trees and Metapod is knocked out cold.
''Rockruff, finish it off with Zen Headbutt.'' Cobalt orders, but Rockruff stands still and begins to use a different Move.
''That's Rock Tomb!'' Acerola Calls out, and it does the job beautifully.
''Looks like that's my win.'' Cobalt says watching as his Pokèdollars Balance increased by four hundred and seventy five PD.
''How could I lose?'' Asks Samurai.
''Your Pokémon are strong, but they are slower by comparison to mine. Rockruff and Pidgey were selected not because of their type advantage's but because their sizes and speed meant a blitzkrieg battle was optimal. My advice? Find an Eevee and after a period of training it, evolve it into an Umbreon. An Umbreon will have a large number of moves that are not strictly Dark-Type, allowing you a Pokèmon who can cover a lot of bases, especially in Double Battles where advantages are not always crystal clear.'' Says Cobalt patting his two mons on the back.
''Your words are hard to hear. I've been training in this forest for two years you see, winning every battle, training relentlessly.'' Says Samurai.
''Yeah, but training and battling is only half of the total equation. You must take into account your Pokèmon's dietary needs as well. Are they receiving enough nutrients and vitamins in what it is that you're feeding them. Additionally do you treat them like sentient beings with minds and personalities of their own? Show them respect and show them trust, and you will never live to regret it.'' Cobalt says strongly.
''I thank you for educating me. Now then, I believe that in exchange for defeating me, I promised to lead you to one. Follow me.'' Says Samurai, after returning his mon's to their Pokéball's.
''Quite right, but before that allow me to give you something while Acerola tends to the Pokèmon.'' Cobalt says, as he begins making notes, before tearing the page from his pad. Follow these instructions exactly, it will produce a food that will help your Pokèmon become stronger and healthier. Do not deviate, I can't guarantee what would happen if you did.'' Says Cobalt, giving an old recipe he had learned from old man Hobbs.
''I thank you, but let us find this Scyther of the forest.'' Says Samurai, Bowing his head and hands in thanks.

The Scyther's territory was marked by a lot of battle scars, this Scyther had been there a while based on some of the signs of battle. This could mean any number of things, but not a lot of them were good, this Scyther could very well be an old one, making it unlikely to be very trainable.
Scyther we're notoriously difficult to train the older they got, It was not impossible to do, but it also meant its potential was limited.
Hopefully Cobalt would have better luck than he suspected he'd get.
Well, at least he got a snorlax out of it all, there was something to be had in that. A Snorlax made the best American Tank seem like a Chinese knockoff toy by comparison. It was an absolute fucking beast if it was trained very very well and fed regularly and with premium grade food at that.
It was without a doubt, a Tank of a Pokémon!
