Chapter 39: Abandoned Power Plant

As Julian continued his journey, he couldn't help but notice something unusual. The river he needed to traverse was dry, which threatened to consume a significant amount of his time. Riding his bike was no longer an option, as the river became deeper the further he ventured, preventing him from either crossing it or climbing up the riverbank. Walking would be far too time-consuming.

With a determined resolve, Julian decided to investigate the cause of the river drying up. Upon reaching the river, he discovered a trio of caves leading into the Rock Tunnel. His eyes scanned the entrances, and he noticed that one of the paths had water trickling outside, seemingly connected to the river.

Julian pondered the situation. 'It seems like there's an obstruction inside that cave, and my guess is that the primary entrance to the cave lies on the other side, with these caves serving as exits. I always thought there were only two exits. How did a third one come into play?'

Frowning, Julian considered the various possibilities regarding this unexpected third exit from the Rock Tunnel.

'Rather than overthinking it,' he decided, 'I should investigate what's blocking the water in that third cave.' With that decision made, he set off to explore the source of the issue.

As Julian ventured further into the cave, he observed that the passage led underground, judging by its steep angle. Moving deeper into the cave, he soon encountered the root of the problem obstructing the river's water flow—a massive Snorlax. Julian made several attempts to move it, but the slumbering Pokémon didn't so much as budge. Frustration mounting, Julian eventually realized the futility of his efforts.

Julian sighed in resignation. "This Snorlax is in a deep, undisturbed slumber. It won't wake up unless it's hungry. It looks like I'll have to capture it and send it back to Professor Oak's lab."

Julian reached for a Pokéball, fully intending to capture the Snorlax, but at the last moment, he stopped himself.

Julian whispered, "Phew, that was a close one. If I had captured it now, the water behind it would have surged forward and swept me away."

Taking a step back, Julian decided on a different approach. "Gyarados, come out!"

Gyarados materialized before him, its large form casting a formidable presence, although it seemed a bit perplexed due to the absence of water nearby. It turned its gaze toward Julian, awaiting instructions.

Julian explained his plan to Gyarados. "When I capture that Snorlax, water is going to surge out, so I'll be on your back to stay safe."

Gyarados nodded in understanding. As it bent down, Julian swiftly climbed onto its back, preparing for what was to come. With determination, Julian pressed the button on the Pokéball, capturing Snorlax just as the water began to rush out uncontrollably. The torrential current filled the cave, surging toward Gyarados and Julian.

With expert agility, Gyarados navigated through the cascading water, swimming effortlessly out of the cave. Once they emerged from the cave, they heard the familiar ding sound, signifying a successful capture.

Julian couldn't help but express his surprise. "It didn't even put up a fight. Catching a sleeping Snorlax is easier than catching a Caterpie."

Gyarados nodded in agreement, seemingly sharing Julian's sentiment.

Julian gazed at the newly flowing river, satisfied that his actions had restored its proper course. Deciding to wait a while for the river to fill completely, he patiently observed its progress. Once he saw that the river was running smoothly, he instructed Gyarados to carry him to the abandoned power plant.

Upon arrival, Julian returned Gyarados to its Pokéball and approached the fenced-off area surrounding the plant. Inside, towering electrical structures crackled with high-voltage electricity, a stark contrast to the plant's abandoned appearance.

Julian approached the gate, only to find it secured with a rusty lock. He decided to take matters into his own hands, delivering a powerful kick that shattered the lock. With the gate now open, he stepped inside.

Within the confines of the abandoned power plant, Julian couldn't help but notice the abundance of Electric-type Pokémon. Voltorb, Electrode, Pikachu, Raichu, Electabuzz, and others filled the area, their presence sparking with energy and electricity.

Upon encountering the Electric-type Pokémon inside the power plant, Julian noticed that most of them attempted to avoid him, while a few became aggressive and initiated attacks. Fortunately, Kabutops handled these encounters with ease.

As he navigated the interior of the power plant, Julian couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. The labyrinthine layout consisted of countless rooms, each filled with intricate electronic machinery and rows of electricity-reading meters. The uniformity of the surroundings left him with a persistent headache.

Taking a much-needed break in one of the rooms, Julian eventually mustered the determination to continue his exploration. After what felt like an eternity, he stumbled upon a door that led to the outside. Stepping out, he was greeted by towering utility poles, each adorned with a complex network of electrical lines transmitting power in various directions.

Julian, surveying the intricate web of electrical connections, couldn't help but surmise, "It appears that someone or something is harnessing the electricity from this power plant."

Following the intricate patterns of electric currents, Julian eventually stumbled upon the source of the disturbance. There, he beheld a large, yellow Pokémon with an elongated beak and spiky feathers, intently observing the energy emanating from a massive transformer at the heart of the facility.

Despite the potential for extensive damage to the power plant, Julian remained unfazed. All he desired was an exhilarating battle, and he was willing to take on this imposing adversary, regardless of the consequences to the surroundings.

Zapdos regarded the intruder with a piercing gaze, fully aware that this visitor sought a battle. With a graceful ascent into the air, the Electric-type Legendary Pokémon fixed a cold, unyielding stare upon Julian, silently waiting for the impending confrontation.

As the tension mounted, electricity crackled around Zapdos, sending jolts of energy through the atmosphere. The once-clear skies darkened ominously, punctuated by the thunderous roar of approaching storms. Lightning lanced down from the heavens, wreaking havoc upon the earth below. Zapdos had unleashed a mighty Thunder attack, attempting to intimidate Julian with its sheer power.

Undeterred, Julian confidently issued his command. "Go, Heatran!"

As Heatran emerged from its Pokéball, its imposing presence sent tremors through the ground, causing fractures to form beneath its colossal feet. Heatran had grown significantly since Julian's care, its bulkier frame standing at an impressive 1.9 meters in height. The immediate surroundings experienced a marked shift in temperature, with the heat radiating from Heatran intensifying steadily.

The Pokémon's transformation was awe-inspiring, and it stood ready to face its formidable opponent with newfound strength and power.

The battlefield crackled with raw elemental energy as the two legendary Pokémon locked eyes, poised for an epic showdown. On one side, the tumultuous sounds of thunder and lightning filled the air, while on the other, the ground trembled and began to liquefy, forming a seething pool of lava beneath Heatran's imposing figure. The ever-rising temperature caused the air itself to sizzle and shimmer, creating a mirage-like distortion in the surroundings.

As the stage was set for this legendary clash, the battle promised to be a spectacle of unparalleled power and intensity.
