Chapter 1Chapter 1: Gray

On Route 1, there is a small river path. That river path is commonly used by Pokémon trainers to catch some wild Water-type Pokémon for their team.

A young man that looks to be at the age of 17 was sitting near the river with a fishing rod in hand. The boy had dark blue-ish hair, almost touching the boundaries of black, he had blue eyes which glowed with boredom, his hair and eye color compliments his tanned skin.

"Hmm… It's been 3 hours and I haven't gotten a bite yetz. This river is cursed."

The boy said with a sigh, he was trying to get a Pokémon that can beat the Rock-type gym, but it is taking too long.

His name is Gray, a kid that has only been a trainer for 2 days. He came from Pallet Town, where he got his ID, Pokédex, and other important items.

Gray is one of the four kids that got a Pokémon from the famous Professor Samuel Oak.

Of course he didn't just get a Pokémon for free, he had to take a trainer test for it. If a person averages okay at the test they get a trainer ID and some essential items for the journey. But if they score above average, they get the items listed before with an extra Pokémon.

Sometimes the Professor chooses one or two kids to give a Pokémon and a Pokédex, but that rarely happens.

Usually only three people get to have the privilege to get a Pokémon from the Professor.

"Hm?!"

Gray suddenly felt a pull from his fishing rod, he then stood up and a grin formed on his face.

"Finally, a Pokémon! It better be good…"

Gray let the Pokémon pull on the rod for a bit before he drew it fast. But it didn't budge.

"Hm? This little guy has some power and weight on him. That's good."

Gray then dug himself into the ground, ready to jerk whatever Pokémon was on his rod out.

"Hah!"

After a few yanks, the Pokémon finally came out, Gray saw a huge silhouette behind the water. But as it fell, he finally saw the Pokémon.

"Magikarp…"

A huge crimson Magikarp flails on the ground, crying its own name a few times. Gray then threw the Magikarp away from the river, so it could not escape. He then scanned the Magikarp on his Pokédex.

{Magikarp, The Fish Pokémon. In the legends, this Pokémon was able to swim up a fast waterfall, evolving after it reached the peak. This Magikarp is a Female.

Type: Water

Ability: Swift Swim

Gender: Female

Moves:

-Tackle, Flail, Splash,}

"Hmm, it's a standard one, but the size and it's color…"

Gray hummed, he has never seen a crimson Magikarp, and it's size is humongous, it's two or 3 times the size of a normal Magikarp.

The Fish Pokémon just kept flailing, trying to get back into the river, only to get brought back to the ground.

"Karp! Karp! Karp!"

The cries of the Pokémon annoyed Gray, so he grabbed one of his Pokéball, but this one isn't a normal Pokéball. It had a black top that had a yellow stripe that made an upside down 'u'.

Gray then threw it at the Fish Pokémon, making her turn into this green energy that just went into the ball.

The ball landed on the ground with a soft thud, it then started to quiver, it shook once… twice…

*ting*

Three yellow stars came out of the ball, signifying the capture of the Fish Pokémon.

"Hm, a Magikarp is a great find. It's evolution is one of the best, especially when it gains its draconian side. Although it's hard to train one, it's not the hardest when you capture it as a Magikarp."

He nodded, satisfied with his capture. Walking towards the ball, he took it and clipped it on his trainer belt, where his starter resides.

But he wondered, does the size and color change how strong it will become?

After a few more hours of fishing, he caught some more Pokémon but he released them after assessing them. All of the Pokémon he saw were either weak, or normal.

The sun also went down, as the moon replaced its place in the sky revealing the beautiful blue night and stars.

He contemplated fishing more, but he decided to rest for the night since he has been fishing all day.

Gray just shook his head and set up camp near the river since he was too lazy to move away from the spot.

He started a campfire with tree branches he found earlier this morning. After a few minutes, Gray got tired and killed the campfire and slept in his small tent.

-o-

"Battle me!"

A small kid at the age of 10 shouted, pointing a Pokéball at Gray, as a sign of a Pokémon battle.

Gray just nodded, wanting to finish this quickly so he can go to Viridian Forest as fast as he can. He doesn't want to stop at Viridian City since he has some personal hatred for that place.

He also wanted to catch a Pokémon that will take time to find so he wanted to be at Viridian Forest in three days' time.

"Let's fight together, Rattata!"

The kid then threw the ball in the air, as his Rattata molded from the energy.

Gray nodded, plucking out a same design of Pokéball he caught his Magikarp in, he then threw it up in the air, letting out a rather small Pokémon.

It had a yellow, round-body with black stripes. It's arms are bulky in proportion to its body, and it has three claws instead of fingers. It has two stripes on its arms, which wrap all the way around.

"Kid! Kid!"

When the Pokémon finally formed, it roared its name, throwing electricity out of its body, making the boy and his Rattata scared.

"W-what is that?"

The boy stuttered, he had never seen that Pokémon in his life. He has been fighting new trainers that came from Pallet Town for 4 months, and he had only seen Pidgey, Rattata, Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur.

"It's species name is called Elekid, that's all you need to know. Use Thunder Punch."

Gray said, making the boy panic. The boy doesn't know how to fight against Electric-types since he had never fought one before.

Elekid roared again, as its fists were coated by raging electricity. The small Pokémon then blitzed towards the Rattata who braced itself for impact.

"Rattata, dodge and use Quick Attack."

The boy shouted, as his Rattata obeyed his call. But before he dodged, he got a fist full of raging energy, making him fly towards a tree with minimal burns.

"Rattata!"

The boy called, but his Rattata didn't answer. A few seconds later, the smoke cleared, revealing the Rattata who was knocked out, with some 2nd degree burns.

When the boy got to his unconscious Pokémon, he returned it back to its Pokéball and used a small Potion to stabilize his friend.

Gray just looked over and returned his Elekid, walking towards the kid.

"Here, have this."

Pulling out a green colored potion, he put it near the boy and left. But before he went too far, he heard the boy shout and looked back.

"T-the money… I lost so I have to give you money…"

The boy searched for his money in his bag, and gave a few hundred Pokédollars to Gray.

This is one of the rules that the league set for trainers, to give money to the trainer they lost to. But if it's a friendly battle, you don't have to.

The rule was stated after trainers began to challenge every trainer they see, so the league proposed a rule to let the loser pay the winner, and the money you give increases battle after battle.

Gray nodded, and left the boy.

Back to Pallet Town…

"Professor Oak! I hope I'm not late."

A young boy shouted, rushing towards Samuel Oak's laboratory. The boy hoped to get his first Pokémon to start his journey, but was 1 hour late

You see, this boy has the dream of becoming a Pokémon Master, a title given to a trainer that catches and trains a lot of Pokémon. But it's not easy to achieve this, the only person to have the title of Pokémon Master was Red, the legendary trainer 100 years ago.

"Ah, Ash, about the time you showed up. You are late, but I can assure you can have a Pokémon."

The elderly professor gave a gentle smile, leading Ash to the room where he gets his own Pokémon.

The room was filled with computers, paper, and machinery that a person would hate to work at.

Oak dragged Ash towards a desk that held a glass case, it had 4 Pokéball placed inside.

They all had the same design, red top, white bottom and button. But they had some differences, all of them had stickers that informed the person their type.

"Come, I suppose you are in a hurry to receive your Pokémon? Here."

Prof. Oak took out an ID and scanned it to the scanner near the case. The case slowly opened, taking out a Pokéball, he handed it to Ash.

"Woah… what's inside of this Professor?"

Ash asked curiously, he always wanted a Pokémon, but he doesn't know a lot about Pokémon.

"It's a Pokémon I caught yesterday, it was chewing on some power cable causing a power outage. I was supposed to give you a Nidoran, but this Pokémon suits you."

Prof. Oak chuckled, seeing Ash's excited face. The boy touched the button and the ball opened, as a blue pixelated energy came out.

From the energy, a small chubby rodent formed. It is covered in yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on its back. It had two red pouches on its cheeks, and a lightning bolt shaped tail.

"Pika!"

The rodent cried, looking around the room with an intense glare. The rodent then looked up and saw Ash and Prof. Oak, as small sparks of lightning came out of its cheeks.

"Woah!"

Ash shouted, his eyes sparkling as he look at the chubby Pokémon.

"Pika… CHU!!!"

The Pokémon cried, releasing a powerful Thundershock throughout the whole room shocking both Ash and Prof. Oak.

-o-

{Elekid, the Electric Pokémon. This Pokémon generates electricity differently than other Electric-type Pokémon, using its arms as a conductor, it also loves playing in harsh weather.

Type: Electric/Fighting

Ability: Vital Spirit

Gender: Male

Moves:

-Thunder Punch, Thunder Shock, Brick Break, Thunder Wave, Low Kick,}

"Good, good. You won't disappoint me."

Gray nodded, he wasn't sure that the Pokémon he got was good, especially since it was hatched from an egg. But after the fight against Joey- yes he asked for the boy's name. He noticed how strong Elekid is, of course the Electivire Line is powerful, but Elekid just hatched 2 weeks ago.

So he was shocked at how Elekid fought with vigor and strength.

The Elekid then smirks, he got praised by his father, so he was proud of himself. Elekid thought of Gray as his father because of imprinting.

Gray was the first person he saw after he hatched, so he naturally thought of him as his father.

"Now, I want to introduce you to a new acquaintance of yours. She will build the most powerful team ever with you, a team that will battle against Legendaries toe to toe."

Elekid's eyes widened, to fight legendaries, can he really do that? Also, who's his new friend?

"Kid! Kid!"

Gray smiled, Elekid jumped up, excited to see his new companion.

He took the ball out from its belt, and threw it up, releasing Magikarp to the slow stream of the river.

When the crimson carp formed, she curiously looked around, finally stopping at Gray and Elekid. It took a while but she realized that Gray was the one who lured her out and caught her.

Her eyes widened, and tried to swim away, but her body seemingly stopped. Sparks of lightning came out of her body, hurting her a bit.

She slowly looked at Gray and saw another Pokémon beside him, Elekid, who had his hand outwards.

"Good job, now."

Gray smiled at Elekid, who just smirked. He turned around to face Magikarp and crouched down.

"You, I see potential in you. All I need is your loyalty, and I'll make you the most indestructible Gyarados ever. You want to be powerful right? As a Magikarp, I know that you have been tormented before."

Her eyes narrowed, he was right. As a Magikarp, In every place she goes to, some Pokémon terrorize her just because of her species, color and size.

She understands why they do it for her species, since Magikarp is one of the weakest Water-type in existence, but she doesn't understand why her own species oppress her because of her color and size.

Is it because of jealousy? Or is it because of something she doesn't know? But one thing is for sure, her own species doesn't care about her.

"I'm trying to build the strongest team, and for that, you need to take one seat. What do you say? Do you want to be released and get persecuted again? Or do you want to be the mightiest Gyarados ever?"

Gray pointed the ball in which he caught her in towards her, symbolizing the loyalty she needs for her to get strong.

She looked at it with disdain, that ball was the one who took her freedom away, but the offer of being the strongest Gyarados ever made her hate it less.

Remembering the torment she experienced throughout her life, a raging flame lit inside, getting larger second after second.

Her rage exploded, right now, the only thing in her mind is the goal of getting stronger, and if the only way to get stronger is to be loyal to Gray, she will join.

With a final cry, she tackled the ball and returned to it, making Gray smile.

Author's Corner:

It might have seemed confusing since the start of this fanfiction is not the usual of: Starting off at Pallet Town, Childhood, etc.

I wanted to start after he got his essential items from Oak, also, because his childhood is going to be one of the main points of his CD.

Anyways, I hope this becomes better than that Alex Burns, saw that fic botted to the top so I became petty and created this lmao.
