(Unedited)

Meeting up with Jenny in their rooms at the inn, Ares was stunned at what he saw. Jenny lay passed out on the couch, groaning as her flushed face seemed to emit a lot of heat.

"So what did you do to get to this point?"

Ares said as he walked towards his own bedroom. He needed to look over the materials he had gained from the Pokemon Mansion. Jenny would not be of any help with that, as he would surely be questioned where he got it.

"Stayed in too long..."

Jenny groaned, half awake as she fanned her hot cheeks with her hands.

"Ah, the hot spring."

Remembering there was a hot spring at the inn, at multiple spots on the island even, Ares wasn't surprised. Jenny had been excited to visit them. He was certain she had refused to get out when she had felt her reach her limit.

"Good luck cooling off. Shellder might help with that."

Ares entered his room, hearing a muffled 'okay..' as he closed the door.

He wasn't sure what to think of his travel companion up to this point, but maybe it would get better? If not, he could always go on further on his own. Pallet Town was rather close by.

Getting his Rotom phone, he scrolled through the many notes. There were detailed descriptions of the experiment they were doing, as well as the process and the results. The description of the breakdown of genetic material was detailed and graphic at some points. He was fortunate he hadn't eaten anything beforehand or he might have emptied it all out again.

Reading on, he arrived at the point where the results were improving, ending up at the file [Mewtwo].

This was the point his mind became focussed. He had hear Mr. Fuji speak of this before. Mewtwo, the pokemon that had been created by the hands of humans and had then destroyed the place of its birth. The information in front of him let him glean some inside information about the process and about Mewtwo itself, should he encounter it in the future.

Opening the file, the first thing he saw was not the bulk of written information he had expected, but a video log.

From the first step of a rather sustainable embryo, up to the point Mewtwo had been fully grown.

Mewtwo was not fully conscious at this point, but the experiments inflicted upon it were no less that torture. The results?

The increase of psychic energy and will power.

At this point, Mewtwo awakened.

It was stunned, unaware of who and what it was. It questioned the scientists, who aptly named it Mewtwo. They explained that it had been created by them, from a pokemon called Mew. Its creation however, had no definite purpose.

Mewtwo became enraged and the following scene was cut short as a blast of psychic energy blasted outwards and cut off the feed.

"Its rage and power are enormous. These scientists are- were insane. To think they went so far to create such a powerful pokemon."

[It is a loose cannon if you ask me. Untempered, Wild, a danger to itself and others.]

Mew commented, slapping her side in anger. This recording only pissed her off even more. How vile these humans had been!

"Anger can be lessened, if we can address the cause. Wild can become mild, if it learns about itself and the world. And the danger it poses can become restrained if it learned how to use its powers and when to use them. I am sure it is not as deranged as you proclaim it to be, Mew. There is no point in confirming what is before seeing it with your own eyes. Should we cross its path, we can affirm your statements."

Closing his phone, Ares re-ordered the stacks of paper in his back, organising it in multiple folders to easily retrieve them should he need them.

By the time he was done with that, dusk had already arrived. It had become late, a growing pang of hunger silently nagged at him to get something to eat, threatening to let itself be heard if he waited any longer.

Looking at Jenny, who had recovered for a bit, they went to get some food.

Standing there in the dinning room, Old man Blaze was setting up plates and food, a few other guests of the inn having gotten down to eat as well. Compared to Ares and Jenny, these other guests were rather old, shuffling forward to get a seat at the table. While some of them were walking slowly, afraid to fall, others had a spring in their step as if they were still youngsters ready to start their pokemon adventure.

"Nice of you to join us on this lovely evening. The food is ready and piping hot, so dig right in."

Old man Blaze put down a hot pan of Curry, scooping some up to fill up the plates.

Taking a seat, they called out their pokemon and gave them some food as well, keeping them well fed as they too dug in.

After dinner, they stayed a bit to let the food settle down. Jenny was chatting in excitement about her day at the hotspring and the nearby stalls, showing of her recent purchases of a dress and some Mary Jane shoes. Nodding along, Ares occupied himself with polishing Beldum's body, which had gotten a bit dirty. Beldum had long since closed its eye, clearly enjoying it.

On the side, the rest of his pokemon were either dozing of, like Umbreon, Lucario and Lapras, or were waiting to get a turn to get some quality time. Like Pikachu, Charizard and Pidgeot. Pidgeot was hopping restlessly back and forth, as it had been a while since its feathers had been diligently preened.

"So, found any clue as to where the gym is yet?"

Old man Blaze sat down on the couch, a bright smile once again on his face.

"Not yet. There aren't any clue's so far. I wonder if it has been moved somewhere else. Cinnabar doesn't seem to have built a new gym either."

Ares had moved on to Pidgeot, spreading out its wings and taking out the dirt. He shared his time searching with Old man Blaze, though he had not spent too much time searching the city after the Pokemon Mansion incident. He hadn't really been up to it after what he had seen down there.

"Why, that's too bad. Want me to give you a hint? Blaine kept the gym at Cinnabar Island, but it is hidden a bit better, to keep the tourists out. The hint he left for challengers is this. The gym operates in [a place no firefighter could win.] Good luck finding it."

Old man Blaze laughed, enjoying the riddle a lot as he left Ares to rumminate about it.

Leaving the hint for what it was for now, Ares finished grooming his pokemon, leaving them in a state of drowsiness.

Jenny seemed excited about the riddle. She was thinking hard, occasionally wanting to speak up when she thought of something, only to close her mouth as she shook her head.

"Let's sleep about it for a night! We're tired and can't focus due to it. I'm sure I will have the answer tomorrow."

Jenny commented, laughing with a silly smile on her face.

"I'm not in a hurry. I need to think on who to battle with anyway."

Ares replied, looking over at his pokemon.

Lucario was out, as he had a weakness against fire-type moves. Not the best option to fight against a fire-type gymleader.

His options as of now would be Lapras, though not the best as she hated hot places, Pidgeot, Pikachu, Umbreon and Charizard.

Pidgeot would be best to avoid attacks, as he was fast and agile. But if the area where they were battling was an enclosed, smaller area, then he would not be the best option.

Pikachu was fast as well, but she couldn't take a lot of hits.

If Blaine had a pokemon with a ground-type attack adn typing, she would be out for the count.

Umbreon had fought the last battle, but it also depended on what the battle format would be.

Charizard would be much the same as Pidgeot, though he needed the battle experience such a gymbattle could give.

Decisions, decisions.

He had his prime candidates for now, so all her needed was to see the area they would battle in. He would make his final decision then.
