Pokémon : An Unexpected Journey

Austin, a die-hard Pokémon fan, is disenchanted with the series' direction post-Sinnoh. After a typical late-night binge-watch, he drifts off to sleep, only to wake up in an unimaginable reality: he is Ash Ketchum, and today is the morning his legendary journey begins. Reeling from the shock, Austin must navigate a world that is not quite the anime, manga, or video games he knows—it's something far more complex and dangerously real.

[ Team Rocket Rookie Base ]

[ Lisa's Office ]

Green sat in the dimly lit office of Lisa, her hands shaking as she scrolled through the files on the computer screen. Tears streamed down her face as she read the information in front of her. The room was quiet except for the sound of clicking keys and the occasional sniffle from Green.

Austin stood behind her, his eyes fixed on the screen. He had a look of shock and confusion on his face as he read the name on the file.

Green noticed a small icon of herself as a child. She clicked on it, and a new tab opened up. Her eyes widened as she saw a picture of a green similar to her when she was a child. She quickly read through the page and found that her date of birth alongside her name was wrong.

Austin looked at the name on the screen in shock. "Ambertwo," he murmured to himself.

He remembered that name from the uncut version of the first Pokemon movie. Dr. Fuji had made a clone of his daughter, Amber alongside Mew, creating Mewtwo and Ambertwo who were telepathically connected inside the test tube. Unfortunately, Mewtwo's genetic makeup and sheer force of power kept him alive after they had been born, but Ambertwo had shortly died, causing Mewtwo to lash out at the world in the anime, at least. He didn't know how those events played out in this world.

Suddenly, Green stood up, throwing her chair back. Austin jumped out of the way just in time. Green ran towards Lisa, her fist crashing into Lisa's gut.

"Tell me, why do you have those files?!" Green screamed out in anger and sadness.

The air in Lisa's office was tense as Green's fist connected with Lisa's gut. There was a loud thud, followed by a moment of stunned silence. Lisa stood there, blankly staring back at Green as if unsure of what had just happened. Austin, who had been standing nearby, quickly moved to catch Green as she fell to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.

Lisa's expression remained unchanged as she answered, "Those are the files that had been recovered from New Island after it had been destroyed by Mewtwo. I was ordered to work alongside Dr. Sebastian in the recovery of the files."

But Green wasn't listening. Her mind was swirling with only one thought: destroyed, destroyed, destroyed. She cried silently for a few moments before a deep, guttural bellow echoed throughout the room.

Austin hugged her tightly, his hand gently grabbing onto her head. He could feel her tears soaking through his shirt, but he didn't care. He just wanted to help her. After a few moments, he pulled away slightly and spoke softly, "Green, I know it hurts, but please pull yourself together. Can you at least tell me what's wrong?"

But Green didn't answer. She continued to weep into his chest, her body shaking with sobs. Austin patted her back gently, trying to comfort her as best he could. He knew that saying anything else might open up a different can of worms, and he wasn't sure if that was a can of Weedle, Caterpie, or Diglett.

" No! I have to stay! I have to....."

Haunter and Musharna stood beside him, their expressions reflecting his concern.

Without a word, Austin reached out and patted Green's back, silently communicating his intentions. She tensed but didn't move away. Haunter watched her with worried eyes, while Musharna took a deep breath and blew a pink mist onto her face. Green eyes rolled back, and she slumped to the ground. Austin wasted no time, quickly scooping her up and throwing her over his shoulder

Austin stood up and his eyes narrowed as he stared at Lisa, taking in her garish makeup and brightly colored clothing. He resisted the urge to cringe at the sight of her, instead focusing on the task at hand.

He looked at Lisa, his expression serious. "Give me your Captain's badge and tell me everything you know about Team Rocket's illegal schemes."

Lisa nodded, and Austin reached out to take the badge from her. "My Captain's badge is in my second drawer behind my strap-on," Lisa said calmly. "As for the Team Rocket schemes, I am only in charge of being the middleman between the item shipments from other regions into Kanto."

"What are these items?" Austin asked, his voice low.

"Pokemon and human organs for sale on the black market, illegal discontinued PokeBalls that can capture powerful Pokemon while inducing a psychic hold on their minds, weapons, and industrial machinery."

Austin's jaw tightened. "Is Team Rocket bribing the police?"

"Yes, we have many undercover agents in various parts of the government, from politicians to judges."

Austin took a deep breath, trying to keep his anger in check. "Do you know about Giovanni?"

"The current runner-up for the Pokemon League President and the Minister of Finance?"

Austin felt his heart sink. This was going to be much more difficult than he'd anticipated. Team Rocket had their fingers in so many pies. "Shit," he muttered. "I need to rethink my plan for taking down Team Rocket. For now, let's cover up our trail."

"Musharna, wipe Lisa's and Alakazam's memories of us," he said, turning to the two Pokemon.

"I can block the human's memories, but Alakazam is a psychic," Musharna said. "He can destroy whatever blockers I put in."

"Any suggestions, then?"

"Hmm," Haunter said, her expression thoughtful. "We could have Haunter form a dark type membrane around a ghost type membrane that is around a psychic type membrane."

Austin blinked, then shook his head. "You guys...wait...you gals do that while I do something else."

Musharna and Haunter nodded, bumping fists or more like Musharna's heat getting hit by Haunter's claw as Austin took out an untraceable phone and dialed a number.

"Hello there, sir," Dr. Akihabara said smoothly. "Good news. I have successfully formed a Porygon prototype. While it is incomplete, we are but a step away from fully artificially creating life."

"Dr. Akihabara," Austin on the other end of the line said. "You can play God all you want, but I will be sending you a device through my Abra, and I want you to create a replica for me. Can you do that?"

"Sir, I should be able to, but what is that device?"

"It's a badge that acts as an identity card."

"Oh, sir, that's easy to make."

"Hmm. I am counting on you."

"Yes, sir. Thank you, sir."

Cutting off the call, Austin turned towards the computer and plugged in his USB. He copied and transferred files, his eyes scanning the screen. He was going to read every one of these files before revising his plan for Team Rocket.

[ Omake Paragraph ]

Omanyte should be the symbol of the Worldwide Association of Paleontology, headquartered in Pewter City; no other fossil would be nearly as suitable.

Although the term Omanyte is nowadays used primarily for O. omanyte, the most common and only one (as of this writing) to be successfully revived, an astounding variety of genera and families are known in the fossil record. Their shells are remarkably impervious to the ravages of time: while most Lazarus pokemon are only rock-types because of the nature of their revival, Omanyte shells are believed to have been made of some type of stone throughout most if not all (for the fossil record is never complete) of prehistory. But for all their immense documentation, when compared to the Treecko who grew feathers and evolved into Normal/Flying pokemon, or the relatives of Mudkip who first crawled onto the land, these pokemon have changed little throughout the centuries.

Therefore, for all their iconic status among fossils, despite being the first to be raised from extinction, Omanyte would be a weak symbol if not for the shape of their shells. They are called the spiral pokemon, and their strange shape has been subject to a great deal of speculation, more often from philosophers than from paleontologists themselves. Some have even said that Omanyte is powered not by food or sunlight, but by spiral energy; the power of evolution, and the power of life itself. This claim seems a spurious one, but it should be remembered that vast quantities of fossil fuels are always found near rock formations containing Omanyte shells. Humanity, too, uses the helix to run the engines of civilization.
