Happy as a lamb

I set up the filled bowl with with cans of spam, double checked to potion to make sure how it worked and if I had missed anything, and finding I hadn't I finally pull adjust the pokeball in my hand with the cat that could make or break my future.

I press the release button and the ball clicks open and with a whooshing sound followed by a bright white light, a clearly very injured and hungry meowth suddenly stands before me, looking exhausted and a eyed me wearily.

But before I could speak, it's nose twitched and it's head shot to the side where the bowl of spam has been placed, and with gusto dashed toward it at a speed that left even his escape from death in the dust, he set himself upon the bowl of processed meat in an instant….

He scoffed everything down his feline gullet in under a minute, even forgetting to breath while doing so..

Eventually he finished eating he slumped down a little in what looked like relief before a minor scowl cross his face and looked toward his left side flank where it was still bleeding, before looming toward me again, but took the scowl it's face and I could see genuine gratitude in its eyes…

It was still weird to me that a cat could produce that many expressions, but now in the Pokémon world it's probably the norm…

I was trying to think of what to say, what to ask, but I'm thinking telling the truth will probably get me the furthest, no point lying to something that's going to be protecting my life from now on…..hopefully anyway

"Hey buddy, I know we met under pretty weird circumstances but I was hoping you would agree to be my Pokémon, I can't offer you much at the moment except crappy, cheap food, shelter in an abandoned building, a warm pile of blankets and a chance to grow stronger with some training I'm hoping will help me get ahead of the game that I saw in some random fanfictions…."

It seemed to take a moment, looking directly into my eyes with intensity that made me a little uncomfortable to be honest, but after the 30 seconds of staring into my soul…..it starts purring and and limps toward me with a pleased expression on its face..

It seems it's injuries are bothering it still.

From what I learned through the grape vine, which didn't surprise me really, was that Pokémon healed unnaturally fast when resting…like even the worst injuries can heal in a matter of weeks even without heal pulse treatment….that's if they don't die

But to actually kill a Pokémon you really gotta make an effort, accidentally killing a Pokémon isn't a thing, but if a Pokémon is injured enough and doesn't get proper treatment, death is still possible….but honestly the healing of this word is bananas…

But my new meowth approached me slowing while purring and started to rub its head against my chest….so I just start rubbing his head which causes his purrs to kick it up a decibel

Pokémon seemed to be a little bigger than portrayed in their Pokédex entrees from the games as it turns out, I once asked if a nidoking was actually around 4'5 and I was almost laughed out of the bar, apparently the average size of a nidoking is around 6'3 with the bigger ones around 7 foot..

I do remember meowth was set around just about a foot and a half tall in its Pokédex entry when I looked it up…..but this thing is pushing pretty close if not on the line of 3 foot tall on all fours….it's going to be a monster of a Persian…

But as he was rubbing blood and dirt on my new whether resistant hoodie I notice he was smacking his lip and swallowing everything now and again, which my cat as a kid used to do when he was thirsty…so I took water bottle off my waste and drank a little as he watched with rapt attention even while continuing to purr…

" you want some water buddy?"

He just nodded enthusiastically..

I didn't bring down a water dish, but I guess I'll just use his now empty food dish, I'm sure he wouldn't care about whatever spam juice or slobber is left over…

So I walk over to his now empty food bowl and empty out my water bottle to which he jumps on immediately starts lapping it down as fast as I can pour it…..thirsty cat…

And before long he's emptied out my entire bottle and he gulped down every drop…

Alright I suppose it's time for the potion on those nasty looking cuts and gashes all over his body I suppose..so i hold it out to show it to him.

"Alright mate, this here is a potion, if I sprayed this on your wounds it will disinfect and heal them real quick….but I've heard it can sting a bit, would you mind if I sprayed it on your cuts and gashes?"

He looks at the plastic bottle in my hand in fascination a second before he gives me the all clear by sticking out his front paw for me to spray…

I don't waste any time I give his front leg a quick spritz which causes him to flinch a little but doesn't pull back his paw as we both watch as the pretty deep cut pretty much stitches itself back together and closes up leaving no scar at all…

…..man Pokémon are amazing, if it was my old cat it would have attacked me for even suggesting something like that, he probably couldn't understand me, but he would attack me anyway….I only had one cat as a kid, and it was an absolute fucking asshole….but this meowth is chill…

I continue spraying his bloodied spots with a couple spritzes on each before he's good and healed up before he starts putting up a storm again…

" alright mate let's head upstairs, but before that are you male?"

He just looks at me and nods, not seeming offended at all..so he's a guy, good to know..not that it would have mattered if it was a chick, but I'd rather call him a "he" instead of keep calling him and "it"

I mosey upstairs with meowth hot on my trail, seemingly happy as a lamb to be taken in by someone….I really thought convincing a wild Pokémon would be harder….he practically threw himself at me…hopefully he can keep this happy to listen attitude when it comes to training..

But I gotta say it's extra chilly right now….I suddenly look outside and see dark clouds gathering….and that would be why, a storms approaching..

…..and my new hot water system is sitting out there….fantastic, no rest for the wicked I suppose…

As we arrived in my room meowth spotted the fire pit and my blanket on the ground not far away from it and made a mad dash toward it like it would disappear..

He arrived purring like a race car, before circling a few times and plopping himself down warming up his paws near the fire….

All I can think of is how he's getting blood and dirt all over my ground blanket….I'll make him up one of his own little bed with some spare blankets once I give him a bit of a wash…

But for now, I'm going to need some help pulling this system upstairs before it rains…to be honest it would probably be fine even if it was rained on, but I would feel a whole lot better if we got it up here before it did…

"Hey mate, I know you're comfy there but I need to drag something up stairs and I could use a little muscle to get it done"

He looked a little hesitant to leave his bed and fire but still got up and waltzed over to me…are new Pokémon supposed to be this easy to boss around? Because from what I learned, this is abnormal…

I went over to place his bowl down near my stash, grabbed a couple ropes and headed downstairs, ready to get this little mission over and done with…

So we get downstairs and make it to the pull cart filled with random tools and things, but the big ticket items are the coffee table and of course the hot water system…

I was half prepared for this already as I had a small wooden pallet sitting near the entrance ready to load up so I can drag it up the stairs without catching…

Meowth seemed a little hesitant to be around as he scrunched his nose up as soon as we got here which set alarm bells in my head until I saw him frowning when he had to breath….he seemed to hate the smell of bleach…but he still stuck by my side which said a lot about how this relationship is going to go if he's willing to go through that just half an hour after agreeing to be my Pokémon…he's gonna be a real homie I reckon..

I load up the wooden pallet and tie everything down on top through innards of the wooden frame…

I was expecting this to be a long and back breaking job….but with meowth with me on the end of he rope dragging it upstairs….it only took 20 minutes to load and get everything up to the 3rd floor and out of the weather…

Very pleased with myself and meowths performance I walked over and took out a spare blanket to sit next to my own and crumpled it up onto a sort of cat nest for him…

He very much liked his new bed if his purr was anything to go by….but his matted, bloody and dirty fur was bothering me a bit…but I wouldn't give him a cold bath in this kind of weather… I'll have to start rigging up that hot water tomorrow so I can give him a clean…

And with that I grabbed some jerky and leaned against the cold concrete wall as I sat down readying myself for what was to come in the next few days..
