Amidst the grand stage, where good and evil engage in a captivating dance, their performance commands the attention of both the enraptured audience and the unsuspecting players, entwining all in a tapestry of chaos and despair. From our earliest days, we have revered the heroes, admiring their virtuous deeds and unwavering moral compass, embracing the light they embody. Yet, as we journey through the labyrinth of adulthood, we come to understand the villains, their motivations, and the profound truth that heroes and villains are two facets of the same intricate coin. Each is bound by their own set of morals, forged by the crucible of their experiences and beliefs. In this interplay of light and shadow, our collective morality, once seen as an immutable beacon, reveals its fragile nature. It exposes the latent capacity for darkness that lurks within us all, a reminder of the depths to which humanity can descend. Within the realm of Eternum, a world steeped in magic and technology, the disparate races converge, united by a common adversary—the enigmatic force known as "The -----------------." As survival becomes the sole moral imperative, the bonds of trust and unity strain against the relentless tides of uncertainty. Yet, amidst this unyielding backdrop, a singular existence defies convention. Untethered by goals, ambitions, or attachments, it stands apart, embodying a mysterious and apathetic neutrality that challenges the very foundations of this turbulent world. In the tapestry of Eternum's narrative, the fragility of life unfolds, illuminating the darkness that can encroach even upon the brightest stars. It beckons us to contemplate the intricacies of our existence and confront the profound questions that lie dormant within us. Laughter, cold and sinister, echoes through the void. "Hahahaha...ha...ha...haa." "Is this the game you wish to play? So be it," whispers the author, undeterred by the threats of a defiant character. "Foolish author, I shall dismantle the very fabric of your precious creation," the character seethes, vowing to shatter the narrative and leave the author drowning in a sea of shame and regret. "I shall make you writhe in despair, yearning to choke on the remnants of your shattered dreams, and then..." A malevolent pause lingers in the air. "...then, I will deliver the final blow, eradicating not only your existence but the world you so fondly crafted. Prepare yourself." "JUST YOU WAIT!" A heartfelt message to all those who may question their resolve in the initial chapters: I implore you, bear with me through the first twenty chapters, for it is within that transformative span that the story unfurls its true essence. Discover whether to continue or to relinquish the narrative's grasp, for it is an odyssey that promises to challenge and captivate your very soul.

The Academy [4]

Everyone followed Vivienne as she walked down the corridor of the Academy as we passed different classes and facilities, due to having the most high rankers in our class–we had gotten the privilege to choose aur weapons first, not that it matters anyways.

Not long before we reached a huge metallic doorway which had archaic runes engraved on it, and not just the door, the walls around it also had the same, as everyone was wondering what these runes were there for–Vivienne clapped her hands gathering all of their attention.

"So, this is the weapon vault of the Esper Academy, and this door right here—"

Pointing towards the door she said, "Not even an S-Ranked individual would be able to break through this"

Everyone was shocked well except Zephyr because he already knew this, so he just wandered his eyes around the hallway looking here and there.

Creak!

Soon the door opened and everyone walked in–and what they saw shocked them even more, a room the size of the auditorium welcomed them.

"H-how?"

"Hmm, what?....oh that!"

Vivienne turned her neck to look at the students' baffled gazes only to understand a moment later what they were talking about.

"Those runes you saw outside—and the ones on the walls here are all spacial runes, they are used to create a pocket dimension because of which the size of room can vary when seeing from outside when compared to standing inside"

Everyone listened to her explanation with deep interest–well except for Zephyr as he was–doing Zephyr things.

"These glass showcases have every weapon imaginable inside of them and if you want any one of them just call me and i will take one out from the storage, remember not to touch any inside the showcase as they not for combat use rather just for–showing"

"Now go! You have 30 mins if you don't find a weapon under that time you will be assigned a weapon from the school–randomly", saying that Vivienne turned around and walked towards the door before turning back one again as she remembered something.

"And yes remember, you cannot change your weapons until a year so choose wisely, only one weapon per person!", This time she turned and went for real.

Murmur

The whole class was busy finding weapons, while out group of protagonists seemed to have chosen their under 10 minutes.

For Olivia it was a Bow,

For Charlotte it was a spear.

For Henry it was a sycyte.

While Julius chose a Rapier.

Riley chose a broadsword.

And finally…..

Noah–he chose a long sword–how so predictable.

Oh! You are wondering what I chose–well for me I chose…. Nothing.

Yeah well i couldn't really decide, twin swords aka a pair of katanas or double edged swords were a no go–because of their rarity, although not rare when it comes to the weapon itself but the user, there weren't many dual wielders in the human domain and well for a good reason, being a dual wielder means to use two weapons at the same time making the user unable to use magic–a major game changer in battles.

But as for me I can't really use magic so that's not a problem, not that I can use the Grimoire in front of the world, I would be abducted the moment I show it in public–and I am not much of a fan of being abducted so no.

And using a bow, spear, sythe, nunchucks, tasers, or  battens for that matter is out of the question–why, because I don't want to go though weapon training ever again.

Huuh.

Remembering the days of my training still sends shivers down my spine.

I had gone through hell and back in the name of training.

I am not much of a law abiding citizen but as far as I know, stranding a 12 year old on a frozen mountain for 3 months–without any food or water and with no way back can definitely be considered child abuse.

And hell even when we were training sword welding, Cyran used to beat me until I got knocked out and as a punishment I had to swing my sword until my hands fell off and then he says–so what you still got legs don't you, run!

What am I a dog! Treat me like a Goddamn human will you!

And after that godforsaken training from the old devil–his protege, Lucas used to abus….use me to practise hand to hand combat or martial arts, and hell would have been better than going through his training, a personal punching bag is what he wanted not a disciple oh no no no.

And after that he says–Time to study, good children study hard–well good children don't have to get beaten to a pulp everyday before studying now do they?

This went on for 5 years before I was able to escape to this academy, and no way in hell am I going through weapon training or for that matter any training now.

But there was just one problem...

"...pher"

And that was…..

"Zephyr Fitzgerald!!"

Suddenly an ear deafening shout made me snap out of my thoughts. Looking around I saw everyone looking at me, and in front of me stood a beautiful woman–Vivienne.

"Ah–yes ma'am", I responded , straightening my back as I looked into her eyes.

"Have you decided your weapon of choice? If yes then tell me only you are left, so hurry, i don't get paid enough to waste my time on the likes of you"

Vivienne said, a hint of frustration and annoyance evident in her tone.

"Yes! About that…."

Zephyr's voice trailed off.

"Yes and so!?"

Vivienne urged him to speak as she looked at him evidently.

"....i haven't chosen"

Zephyr said, turning his head to the side.

"..."

"..."

This was the second time in the day when the whole class became lost for words unanimously.

"Then why the hell didn't you tell me earlier when we were asking for those who didn't or couldn't choose their weapons."

Vivienne roared, while Zephyr could only reluctantly drop his head, inwardly he was fuming because of this woman's arrogant tone, but well he was at fault but it didn't stop him from cursing her in his head.

"Damn her, acting like the boss on the very first day"

Vivienne glared at him for a while before stomping her way back to the class while all the students just followed her like ducklings following their mother.

Zephyr only trailed behind the ducklings wondering which weapon he would be allotted.

***

"Your smartwatches are the most crucial part of your life in the academy, whether it's your expenses or any other important information all will be sent directly to your watches, and along with that..."

After selecting our weapons we were right now being lectured about the in and outs of the school, the events, tests, classes, semesters, years and the courses.

And to say I was bored would be an understatement, while the teacher was spouting his bullshit Zephyr only looked out of the window, gazing at the birds fly while another bigger bird yanked them out of their way, taking them to their eternal doom.

"So that's about it any questions"

And there, it finally ended–the hell.

Suddenly Zephyr's short lived feeling of relief was shortened by even more as someone raised their hand, gesturing to ask a question.

"Who dares!!!", This was written on Zephyr's face as he glared daggers at the dimwit who raised their hands–and lo and behold it was none other than our protagonist–Noah Fairborn.

"Ma'am, so how are we supposed to choose our accommodation?"

Almost everyone facepalmed the teacher included as she looked at Noah who was innocently tilting his head, Zephyr who was seated a moment ago almost fell from his seat, this fool.

Wasn't this his third time asking this?

Ah, how can I forget, the quirk for the main character, his  memory which could even put a goldfish to shame.

"You are designated accommodations according to your rank in the year, all three years top ten rankers will get a separate accommodation while all the others below will be separated by a thousand ranks respective of their years, just the top 20-100 excluded as they will also get a separate accommodation, do you get it?"

The teacher asked in an exhausted tone, and as soon as Noah nodded, the teacher rushed out of the classroom.

"Finally….", Although I didn't do much, just listening to the teacher exhausted him and what's more that bastard Noah kept asking her to repeat because he was making notes of what she was saying–like what the hell!!?

Zephyr finally after a long day of mental torture went to his new home for the time he stays here, There were 12 buildings assigned for students to occupy, each named after a mythical beast.

"

Dragon Dorms: the top 10 rankers of every student year resided there.

"

"And as for now I have been allocated room no. 109, in the Gryphon Dorm"

Entering the dorm building I saw stairs and elevators with students going about their normal life, they must be 2nd and 3rd years.

I entered one of the elevators and tapped to go on the second floor, exiting the second floor i stood in front of my dorm room.

Huff…haa

Taking in a deep breath i pushed open a door, the sight of a living room beside a kitchen and a single bedroom entered my sight, the bathroom and restroom were connected with the bedroom with a wardrobe near the bedroom's main door, the house has the most important appliances and some techy stuff that i didn't know how to use like this.

Standing in front of a glass table with Zephyr slowly moving his hand touching its surface.

Bzzd.

Suddenly a holographic interface appeared atop the table hovering in the air.

Eek

Zephyr shreaked, living with those two barbarians didn't help either as they both used to live like monks, but for some reason both of them never let me enter their rooms–why was that?

Zephyr just shrugged as he looked at the hologram, it was, the room controls?

A control console, what's that? Zephyr's head was filled with question marks as he looked at the table.

Now what in the world is this....???
