Chapter 6 - Farewell

We got our things sold and we obtained 500 gold coins

Clara decided to keep the core so we could have gotten another 500 coins in case she didn't use it

"Thank you! Now I can buy a hundred cakes!"

"Save it so we can buy our uniforms, they aren't free and getting our measurements taken costs extra."

Clara pouted but I continued walking

We made it towards the village to pack our things

Some clothing and stuff

"Welcome back."

Amanda welcomed us

"Thank you for letting me stay."

"It was my pleasure to keep you."

She held my hands

"You were always a good example for my daughter."

I left and packed my things

There were some skirts and shirts, some tights and pants

I look into my jewelry box containing a blue stoned brooch

It was a jewel that I made myself and Clara had a matching one

Next were some pearl earrings

They were white and held in silver

I put them on and changed my clothes

I was now wearing a white button up and tights

I also decided to wear a skirt

I pushed my hair behind my ear and got ready to leave

I said good bye to Clara's parents and decided to visit my parents

Before that, I decided to look for Felix

Ain't leaving him here with you know who

Felix appears around the corner in the room and jumps into my arms

Even though 6 years past he still looked fairly young

This is because I provided him some of my mana which gave him a longer lifespan

I tickled his chin and left the house

Just next door were my parents waiting

I approached them and hugged them

"I'll see you when I can."

"I love you dear."

Father remained silent

"You should know that Lewis is still a brat even to this day."

"Lewis who?"

"Your younger brother!?"

"Your having another kid, oh I'm so excited mom."

I looked at her stomach

"I'll visit to see him!"

I left and leaved my parents dumbfounded

"We're having another one!?"

"Of course not! I'm already tired of dealing with Lewis that I can't imagine how our next one will turn out."

"We got lucky with Claire though."

The two stared at each other

"Why don't we try again."

We left on a horse drawn carriage to the empire's capital

When we arrived there we were led to a gate which would send us to the Republic of Ostrein

The distance to the Empire of Aurenia and Ostrein was vast

But the warp gates that were developed by the great mage of Ostrein 400 years ago helped greatly

We would arrive safely and we eventually had to go to the academy's tailor shop

We arrived there and settled an appointment for tomorrow to get our uniforms made

"Let's go get some cake!"

"You know that I can make one much more delicious than ones sold at shops."

"Really!?"

But she contemplated to herself before answering like it meant everything

"We'll buy the ingredients you need then buy the cake itself."

"Why not just pick one?"

"I have to compare it or otherwise I'll feel disappointed."

"Haah, okay."

We bought some eggs, flour, butter, sugar, powdered sugar, milk, and lemons

We even got some strawberries and huge pieces of cocoa beans

I would have purchased solid chocolate but it was a delicacy and not manufactured

Next, she dragged me all the way to a bakery

She took some time to decide on what she wanted

She eventually chose a chocolate coated strawberry cake

It had some white chocolate drizzled over the sides with a red strawberry on top

"It's going to melt before we even find an inn."

"Give it to me or it'll be ruined."

She gave it to me and I eventually made a small ice box around the cake with a small handle

We found a fairly large inn called Ephus's Inn

We entered and went towards a lady who was standing behind a counter making food

"What can I help you ladies to?"

"We'll be staying here for 2 days, no meals."

"That'll be 12 Silvers."

We paid the lady and got our rooms

We decided to share one as looking at our surroundings

We could see some shady figures

Felix would be left in there until school began

We lefts our things in the room and returned to the main room

"Can we borrow the stove for a minute."

"You'll have to wait until lunch time is over."

We waited patiently but Clara was on the verge of just eat the cake already

When lunch time ended I immediately got to the kitchen

I brought up two memories

One was Thalia the Chocolatier and Mary the Baker

I made several bowls and utensils made of ice

I followed the steps of making chocolate and sped up the fermentation and drying process with magic

I grinded and filtered the cacao beans and extracted everything I needed

I made the chocolate quickly and started molding and tempering it to give its texture

I immediately moved on to making the batter

I mixed butter and sugar until the texture was consistent

Added whole eggs and a few yolks until it was smooth

In a separate bowl I mixed flour, salt, and baking powder

When it was mixed, I incorporated the mixtures together

It was a thick and smooth cake batter

I took half the batter and put it in a separate bowl

I took some of the lemons and strawberries and juiced them separately

I poured some of it to each batter

I mixed it thoroughly and poured both bowls into a baking dish with a split in the middle

I removed the split and put the cake in the oven

I gathered powder sugar and mixed it with the rest of the juices

I now had 2 flavored icing

When the cake was ready, I pulled it out and cooled it with my power

I then started icing it

I made sure to make it look beautiful with flower icing

I cut some lemons into slices and put it on the lemon half while the strawberry half had strawberries on top

I melted the chocolate and poured it on the sides

I used my power again to cool the drips before it reached halfway down

At the center of the cake was a chocolate flower I sculpted carefully

I brought it out of the kitchen and presented it to Clara

She was awestruck by how beautiful this dish was

She took a fork and was just about to taste both cakes until…..

A man came hurtling and pushed the two cakes on to the floor

"My masterpiece…."

"My cakes…."

Many men were drunk and fighting each other

They were arguing about a topic until one of them got physical

"YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS!!!!!"

We both shouted and immediately tackled the men arguing

We beat the shit out of them

We were mad

I froze the idiots together and kicked their ass out of the inn

I looked at the cakes

What a waste of good cake

We groveled at the destroyed cakes

"Clara, do you know any restoration or rewind spells."

"I can't."

"I can."

A woman approached us and picked us off our feet

We were literally crying our eyes out

"I can rewind the cakes back together."

"THANK YOU!!!"

We stared at the lady

She had long red hair and amber eyes

She looked like a beast that devoured men for breakfast

"What do we owe you ma'am?"

"Just let me have a bite of that cake."

She restored our cakes

"We'll let you have half the cakes."

I cut the cakes in half and packaged it in an ice container and handed it to the lady

My masterpiece lives

We thanked her again and she left

"Now have a taste."

Clara picked up her fork and stabbed into the chocolate cake we bought

She brought the piece into her mouth

It was very sweet and chocolaty

It took her sweet tooth by storm

It was very good

She then took her fork to the one Claire made

It was much prettier than the other one but will it taste as good

She took a bite

Flavor erupted from within

It was sweet and creamy from the icing , it had a bittersweet taste from the chocolate

The strawberry taste echoed from within

It was just right

"You haven't tasted the lemon side yet?"

The lemon side

If the strawberry was this good

Then the lemon is about equal

I took a bite

Sour and sweet split evenly spread my mouth

It made my mouth numb

I could cry tears of joy

It was much more delicious than anything in the world!
