Sleepover

Sitting at my desk, I flipped through the file in my hand.

Sighing, I leaned back in my seat and stared up at the ceiling.

My head was spinning like crazy and I felt like I was gonna be sick.

"Is something wrong?" Richard asked as he looked over at me from the desk at the other end of the table.

"No, I'm fine, I just have a lot on my plate." I said with a small smile as I opened up the file that was in my hands.

"Okay.." He said as he turned back to the files I had given him to overlook.

I looked through the file in my hands and focused on work.

I flipped through the file and set it atop the stack of files. It was almost four in the afternoon now. I closed up my things and let out a small sigh.

Picking up my bag, I exited the office and got onto the elevator. Getting out of the garage, I walked over to the car and sat inside.

Starting the car, I drove onto the main road. Parking the car in the parking lot of June's apartment building, I got out and closed the car door.

Going up to her room, I knocked on the door and waited for her to answer. She came by a minute later and opened the door.

I stepped inside and closed the door behind me. June hugged me and let out a small sigh.

"It's been so long." She murmured.

"We literally saw each other this morning." I say rolling my eyes.

"Yeah, yeah." She grumbled and let go of me.

She stepped back and I dropped my bag on the table.

I stretched my arms and let out a yawn. "Can we get to the sleeping part of this event? I'm tired." I say.

"Oh, c'mon. Let's watch a movie before that." She says and walks off to the kitchen.

I follow behind her and sit down at the small table.

June popped some popcorn and took it over to the room. I followed behind her and sat down on the bed. She came back a second later and put down a bottle of Apple cider. We flicked through some movies and decided on a horror movie.

By the time the movie started, the popcorn had already finished and we had moved on to the cider.

Over an hour later, when the movie ended, we turned the TV off and went to sleep.

I hadn't seen Pearl since yesterday. I felt like punching Arthur. I sighed and put down the file that was in my hands, a terrible headache making its way to me.

I held my head in my hands and let out a groan. The day had been overly agonizing since I hadn't seen Pearl since yesterday. The thought of her being mad at me made me feel a sense of guilt come over me.

I didn't know why but I didn't like the thought of lying to her. I just felt scared of how she'd react. Maybe, at this rate, she might even divorce me if she finds out I'd been cheating on her before the accident.

I stared at my phone screen at the picture I had taken of Pearl a couple of days ago. Letting out a sigh, I turned my phone off and put it aside.

I had to think up something if I wanted to be on good terms with Pearl again. I mulled it over for a couple of moments and came up with the conclusion that if I wanted to get our relationship back to normal, I was gonna have to stick to her like glue.

I let out another deep sigh and got up from my desk. Leaving the room, I went over to the bedroom and sat down on the bed. Pearl hadn't come home today so the room was empty. I glanced around the empty with a vacant expression.

I sat down on the bed for a couple of moments and then layed down. I thought over what I was gonna do tomorrow and fell asleep.
