Blueberry Pie //

<David's pov>

I screamed my frustration out into my pillow.

Laying for a few seconds I looked at the ceiling, frustration written all over my face.

After a few seconds, I got up and went downstairs.

As I entered the lounge, I saw Pearl reading a book, sitting in an armchair close to the hallway leading to the kitchen. Standing there for a few seconds, I smelt a sweet aroma coming from the kitchen.

"Is Mrs. Gray baking something?" I asked.

"Nope." She said, just as soon as a timer started ringing in the kitchen. "I'll go and check it."

I stood at the bottom of the stairs as I watched her leave towards the kitchen.

Following a few long steps behind her, I strode towards the kitchen.

Stepping inside, I looked around at the table and the oven as she put something on the counter.

"You need something?" Pearl asked me, and I saw that she was holding an empty plate. /What for, I don't care!/

"Are you baking?" I asked, standing behind a chair at the table and looking at her as she turned away and put something on the plate.

"Yeah, do you want some?" she asked showing me the plate with a slice of blueberry pie on it.

"Ooo, yes please!" I said cheerfully, sitting down at the table as she put the plate in front of me.

It didn't even feel like a second, I hadn't even started eating when the plate was snatched away.

"Hey!" I looked over at Pearl, who was now putting the plate on the counter. "Pearl." I whined.

"Don't look at me like that," She said in a worried tone, "Heck, did you forget you were allergic to blueberries." she scolded.

"Huh?" I looked at her, confused.

"Don't act dense, you should know your allergies." She scolded, her expression stern.

"But I'm not allergic to blueberries.." I said, trying to remember when I'd ever said I was allergic to blueberries.

"Don't lie to me, you said it yourself." she scolded, as I looked at her confused. "And don't look at me like that."

"But I'm not lying, I can have Mrs. Gray bring over my medical file, or you can ask Mum about it." I said, eyeing the plate on the counter behind her.

*sigh* "Fine." She said and took out her phone from her pocket. She dialed a number and stood there for a few seconds as I sat there and watched her.

<Pearl pov>

*beep beep* the phone buzzed next to my ear. *boop* It sounded as the call got picked up.

{Hello Pearl, dear, how are you?} My mother-in-law spoke.

"Hi mum, I was just wondering about something.." I said, staring at David with a frown.

{What is it dear? That rascal didn't tell you about it did he?} she questioned, her tone urgent.

"Huh? Tell me about what?" I asked curiously. David in front of me noticeably flinched.

{Oh no, it's nothing, his father and I have just been planning something for a distant relative. Anywho, what was it that you wanted to ask about?} she said, her voice sounding as if she was trying to cover for something, but I didn't probe into it further.

"I was wondering what kind of allergies does David have?" I asked, looking at his confident face with a frown.

{He's allergic to strawberries.} she answered.

"Strawberries..?" I mumbled dumbstruck.

{Yes, he often mixes up strawberries with blueberries. Any specific reason you asked?} she said.

"Oh, no, I was just wondering. Well, I guess I'll talk to you later Mum. Thanks." I said to her.

"It's not a problem, dear, and don't always listen to what that little rascal says. Toodles." she said and hung up.

*sigh* "Well, I guess you can have it." I said and put the plate in front of him as he gave an accomplished smirk. "And don't lie to me again."

"I won't!" he said cheerfully as he stiffed his face.
