Chapter Three

Emma was serious about talking to a divorce attorney and I felt like I was being abused by her. I had been telling Emma that she was the one always hurting me, and Emma still doesn't know that. Emma asked me how she was hurting me, and I sighed, nicely explaining to Emma that she was getting aggressive to me and I told Emma that she doesn't need to be aggressive to me, because I have been silent for a while now.

Emma scoffs, walking into the living room, as I followed her out of our kitchen. Emma and I continued arguing, and I asked Emma if she remembered how she used to be this amazing woman who was and Emma stopped and turned towards me and I asked Emma if she even remembered how fun and amazing she used to be? Emma sighed, and crossed her arms, she was furious with me.

"I don't know, maybe that Emma doesn't exist anymore," Emma says.

"Yeah? You got that part right," I answered back to Emma, shaking my head.

"What about you? Huh? You used to be this amazing man who always made me laugh, when I am having a bad day, or when I don't feel well, where is that man who I fell in love with years ago?" Emma asked, sort of angry.

I chuckled, scoffing at once and I sighed, stroking my hair, I looked at Emma, and Emma was unhappy with me, and I was really getting to the point where I am gonna have to sign those divorce papers, because Emma thinks it's my fault that I am the one ruining our marriage.

"I'm sorry, Emma, but I, I am just trying so hard for you to help me understand why you're doing this to me?" I asked, wondering.

"Because you don't ever ask me if I am okay anymore, and I have to make you speak to me, when I am trying my hardest to understand why you're not speaking to me anymore," Emma answered back.

I sighed, "I don't know, I just, I just- I don't know, I, I don't know," I said to Emma, shaking my head not understanding why.

Emma understood, shaking her head, and Emma thinks I was lying to her about something. "Well, you don't know why you're talking to me anymore because I think you're not even talking to me about it and you don't want to," Emma says with a soft voice.

I sighed, "It's not that I don't want to, Emma, I just don't, I-I am-I, I kept on stuttering my words.

"I think I do know why, probably because you don't even trust me anymore," Emma answered back softly.

"Emma, I- I don't know because-I- I don't know, I just, I want to say something about it to you, but I don't think I am ready to give you the opportunity to talk to me about it, because I am not ready," I said to Emma.

"Not ready for what?" Emma asked, crossing her arms once again.

I shrugged, "I- I don't know," I said, shaking my head not knowing why once again.

Emma understood that I was not going to tell her why I have been silent lately. But then Emma walked back into the kitchen, and I followed her into the kitchen.

Emma opens one of the drawers and she takes out the divorce papers and she lays them onto the kitchen counter and Emma tells me to sign them immediately, since she thinks I can't trust her anymore.

"Emma, please don't do this," I said to Emma, softly.

"Sign. The. Papers," Emma answered back once again, furiously.

I sighed, and I just had it with my wife. I grabbed a pin form one of the pen holders standing on top of the kitchen counter next to the sink against the wall, and Emma was furiously patiently waiting for me to sign my name on the divorce papers.

After I had signed the divorce papers, I looked at Emma, furiously. Emma grabbed the papers, and she left the kitchen as I stood there by the sink. I was looking all unhappy and wondering if Emma would change her mind about the divorce.

I have been sleeping on the couch for the last two days, and Emma has been sleeping in our bedroom. Emma was really upset with me, and I tried my hardest to try to explain to her why I wasn't speaking to her anymore. But Emma kept on asking me why, and I still didn't tell her. I am too scared to tell her, but the other day as we fought, I was thinking of telling Emma why I've been silent these past few months.

I just wasn't ready, and why is Emma wanting a divorce? Because I am not speaking of her anymore, that's why. But there's got to be something else that's bothering Emma about her making me sign the divorce papers. I just wasn't sure. This fights were beginning to affect me and I don't think I am ready to lose my wife over some silly reason.
