35 Ch. 33 - Electric

With a buzzing sound, the second laser also stopped, and the path to the Gym Leader opened.

Moving to the Gym Leader, who was sitting on a yellow machine with metallic coils on both sides, like a mechanical throne.

Lt. Surge, The Lightning American.

{Image Of Lt. Surge}

'Time to face the Gym Leader' I thought as I walked up to him.

"Hey, kid! What do you think you're doing here?" said Lt. Surge.

"What else is there to do besides challenge you for a Pokemon Battle?" I replied

Lt. Surge got up from his throne-like machine and looked me up and down.

"You won't live long in combat. Not with your puny power. I tell you, kid, Electric Pokemon saved me during the war. They zapped my enemy into paralysis."

"The same as I'll do to you" said Lt. Surge.

[You are challenged by Leader Lt. Surge]

[Leader Lt. Surge sent out Elekid]

Rhyhorn Lv. 25 - 76/76

Elekid Lv. 25 - 100%

Elekid used <Brick Break>, which was super effective against Rhyhorn and took 26 HP points.

Rhyhorn Lv. 25 - 50/76

Elekid Lv. 25 - 100%

I used <Drill Run>, which was super effective against Elekid, and knocked it out.

[Foe's Elekid fainted]

[Rhyhorn gains 532 EXP. Points]

[Leader Lt. Surge sent out Magnemite]

After Elekid, Magnemite was next.

Rhyhorn Lv. 25 - 50/76

Magnemite Lv. 25 - 100%

Remembering the last battle between Rhyhorn and Magnemite where Magnemite one-shot Rhyhorn with <Mirror Shot>.

'I can't risk Rhyhorn fainting' I thought as I switched Rhyhorn with Charmeleon.

[You withdrew Rhyhorn]

[You sent out Charmeleon]

Charmeleon Lv. 24 - 66/66

Magnemite Lv. 25 - 100%

After switching, Magnemite used <Mirror Shot>, which was not very effective against Charmeleon.

Charmeleon Lv. 24 - 51/66

Magnemite Lv. 25 - 100%

"I knew it, if I hadn't switched Rhyhorn then <Mirror Shot> would have knocked it out."

I chose to use <Fire Fang>, which Magnemite unexpectedly avoided.

[The foe's Magnemite avoided the attack]

"It seems Luck is not on my side."

Charmeleon Lv. 24 - 51/66

Magnemite Lv. 25 - 100%

After that, Magnemite used <Shock Wave>, which did a lot of damage to Charmeleon.

Charmeleon Lv. 24 - 21/66

Magnemite Lv. 25 - 100%

Again I used <Fire Fang>, which would have knocked out Magnemite but it survived with 1 HP.

Charmeleon Lv. 24 - 21/66

Magnemite Lv. 25 - 1.9%

After Charmeleon, Magnemite used <Shock Wave>, which knocked out Charmeleon.

[Charmeleon fainted]

After Charmeleon fainted, I sent out Weepinbell.

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 65/65

Magnemite Lv. 25 - 1.9%

I chose to use <Sleep Powder>, but before that, Lt. Surge used Super Potion to restore Magnemite's HP.

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 65/65

Magnemite Lv. 25 - 100%

After Magnemite healed, Weepinbell used <Sleep Powder>, which Magnemite avoided.

[Foe's Magnemite avoided the attack]

"I was expecting something like that since <Sleep Powder> has only 75 accuracy"

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 65/65

Magnemite Lv. 25 - 100%

Again, I used <Sleep Powder>, which this time hit successfully causing Magnemite to fall asleep.

[Foe's Magnemite fell asleep]

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 65/65

Magnemite Lv. 25 <Asleep > - 100%

[Foe's Magnemite is fast asleep]

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 65/65

Magnemite Lv. 25 <Asleep > - 100%

After Magnemite fell asleep, I chose to switch my Pokemon to Rhyhorn because Weepinbell is not a good match with Magnemite as all other moves that Weepinbell knows are not effective against Magnemite.

"I am taking a huge risk switching to Rhyhorn. If Magnemite woke up then it would be a problem. Hope my gamble pays off" I said as I switched Weepinbell with Rhyhorn.

[You withdrew Weepinbell]

[You sent out Rhyhorn]

Rhyhorn Lv. 25 - 50/76

Magnemite Lv. 25 <Asleep > - 100%

Unexpectedly, just as I switched my Pokemon, Lt. Surge also switched his Pokemon.

[Leader Lt. Surge withdrew his Magnemite]

[Leader Lt. Surge sent out Raichu]

Rhyhorn Lv. 25 - 50/76

Raichu Lv. 27 - 100%

{Image Of Raichu}

Raichu used <Grass Knot>, which was super effective against Rhyhorn, and knocked it out.

[Rhyhorn fainted]

"Why the fuck does an Electric-Type Pokemon know a Grass-Type move that too in a Gym that specializes in Electric-Type?"

After Rhyhorn fainted, I again switched back to Weepinbell.

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 65/65

Raichu Lv. 27 - 100%

Raichu used <Swift >, which was super effective and took a considerable chunk of Weepinbell's HP.

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 39/65

Raichu Lv. 27 - 100%

I chose to use <Sleep Powder>.

[Foe's Raichu fell asleep]

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 39/65

Raichu Lv. 27 <Asleep > - 100%

I chose to use <Vine Whip>, but again, Lt. Surge switched his Pokemon.

[Leader Lt. Surge withdrew Raichu]

[Leader Lt. Surge sent out Voltorb]

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 39/65

Voltorb Lv. 25 - 100%

Weepinbell used <Vine Whip>, which did some decent damage to Voltorb.

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 39/65

Voltorb Lv. 25 - 68.3%

'Now I can either risk and go with <Sleep Powder>, which might miss because of 75 accuracies, or I can use <Vine Whip> to do as much damage as possible'

After some thinking, I chose to use <Vine Whip> instead of risking using <Sleep Powder> and missing.

Voltorb used <Shock Wave>, which was not very effective against Weepinbell and did little damage.

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 27/65

Voltorb Lv. 25 - 68.3%

After Voltorb, Weepinbell used <Vine Whip>, but...

[The foe's Voltorb restored its Health using its <Oran Berry>]

Weepinbell Lv. 23 - 27/65

Voltorb Lv. 25 - 50%

Again with <Vine Whip>, but surprisingly Voltorb, used <SelfDestruct >.

[Foe's Voltorb fainted]

The <SelfDestruct > hit a critical and took all of Weepinbell's HP too.

[Weepinbell fainted]

'I should have used <Sleep Powder>' I thought.

After Weepinbell fainted, I sent out Gyarados.

[Leader Lt. Surge sent out Magnemite]

[You sent out Gyarados]

Gyarados Lv. 27 - 92/92

Magnemite Lv. 25 <Asleep > - 100%

[Gyarados's <Intimidate > ability causes foe's Magnemite's Attack to fall]

Gyarados Lv. 27 - 92/92

Magnemite Lv. 25 <Asleep ><-1 Attack> - 100%

I chose to use <Waterfall >, which is the only move that was effective against Magnemite.

<Waterfall > did a lot of damage to Magnemite and would have knocked it out if it was not for its <Sturdy > ability.

[Foe's Magnimite hung on using <Sturdy >]

"I fucking hate this ability!!!"

Gyarados Lv. 27 - 92/92

Magnemite Lv. 25 <Asleep ><-1 Attack> - 1.9%

[The foe's Magnemite is fast asleep]

Again I used <Waterfall >, this time knocking Magnemite out.

[Foe's Magnemite fainted]

[Gyarados gains 479 EXP. Points]

[Leader Lt. Surge sent out Raichu]

Lt. Surge sent out his last Pokemon, and if I defeat it, I will gain my third gym badge.

Gyarados Lv. 27 - 92/92

Raichu Lv. 27 <Asleep > - 100%

[The foe's Raichu is fast asleep]

Raichu was unable to move because of its asleep status while I again used <Waterfall >, which took out 3/4 of Raichu's HP but...

[Foe's Raichu's <Static > ability caused Gyarados to Paralyze]

[Gyarados is Paralyzed! It may be unable to move]

Gyarados Lv. 27 <Paralyze > - 92/92

Raichu Lv. 27 <Asleep > - 24%

"Whyyyyy!!!!" I cried out.

"Everything was going smoothly, maybe too smoothly. I don't want to lose after reaching the end."

'Now I have two choices. I can either use a Parlyze Heal to heal Gyarados, or I can risk it and use <Waterfall > again.'

'The problem is, if I waste a turn using Parlyze Heal and Raichu woke up, then I am sure it will be able to knock Gyarados out with one Electric-Type move.'

"Fuck it, we will see what whatever happens" I said as I again used <Waterfall >.

Gyarados Lv. 27 <Paralyze > - 92/92

Raichu Lv. 27 <Asleep > - 24%

[The foe's Raichu is fast asleep]

Gyarados Lv. 27 <Paralyze > - 92/92

Raichu Lv. 27 <Asleep > - 24%

But it seems that luck is not on my side as...

[Gyarados is paralyzed! It can't move]

Gyarados Lv. 27 <Paralyze > - 92/92

Raichu Lv. 27 <Asleep > - 24%

Without thinking much, I again used <Waterfall >, but before that...

[Raichu woke up]

Gyarados Lv. 27 <Paralyze > - 92/92

Raichu Lv. 27 - 24%

What I feared happened as Raichu woke up and used <Shock Wave>, which was super effective against Gyarados, but it seems miracles do happen as Gyarados survived with 17 HP.

Gyarados Lv. 27 <Paralyze > - 17/92

Raichu Lv. 27 - 24%

After surviving, Gyarados was able to use <Waterfall > while being Paralyze, knocking out Raichu.

[Raichu fainted]

[Gyarados gains 778 EXP. Points]

[Gyarados grew to Lv. 28]

[Gyarados wants to learn the move <Rain Dance>]

[But Gyarados already knows four moves.]

[Should a move be deleted and replaced with <Rain Dance>?]

Looking at the notification, <Rain Dance> is a move that I heard a lot about in my previous world, but I never used it myself.

I chose to look at <Rain Dance> information first before deciding.

[Rain Dance : The user summons a heavy rain that falls for five turns, powering up Water-Type moves.

Type - Water

Power : --

Accuracy : --

PP : 5

Priority : Normal

Target : Entire Field

> Boosts Water-Type moves by half, and reduces Fire-Type moves' effectiveness by half while active

> Weather lasts for 5 turns, and overrides any previous weather.]

Looking at the information, I can say it definitely is a powerful move, to be able to increase the power of Water-Type moves by half.

'But will I be needing a move like this?' I thought and the answer was clear to me.

I chose to replace <Twister > with <Rain Dance>.

'Goodbye, 20% flinch chance.'

[Gyarados forgot how to use <Twister >]

[Gyarados has learned <Rain Dance>]

[You defeated Leader Lt. Surge]

[You got ₽2,592 for winning]

"Now that's a shocker! You're the real deal, kid!" said Lt. Surge as he patted my shoulder.

"You proved that you are more than just talk. Here take the Thunder Badge" said Lt. Surge as he presented me with a golden color badge which was shaped like a flower.

[You have received the Thunder Badge from Lt. Surge]

The Badge in my hand turned white and vanished.

[The Thunder Badge has been stored in your PokeDEX.]

[Your Trainer card has been Updated]

"The Thunder Badge cranks up your Pokemon's Speed. It also lets your Pokemon Fly lightning-quick anytime, kid."

"You're special, kid. Take this; it will help you in your journey." said Lt. Surge as he gave me a TM.

[You received TM34 from Lt. Surge]

"TM34 contains <Shock Wave>. Teach it to an Electric Pokemon"

"Now get going and make Legends" said Lt. Surge as he went back to sit on his machine.

'Even though he may act all strict, he seems to have a good heart' I thought especially after looking at the flower-shaped gym badge, which doesn't match his strict behavior.

After listening to Lt. Surge, I exited the Gym.

I took out my PokeDEX to look at my trainer card.
