His understanding increased when his level did. Time passed quickly. Chen was eating a sandwich as he was standing by the changing room, leaving the girls to dress up. Once they got out, Mira told him to get in and change. She looked too serious while Hina looked as if she was going to a modelling show.
Chen got in, and he changed his clothes to a grey set. Once he put the helmet on his head, he got out. The owner of the arena rented equipment to the fighters for a cheap price. That's why Chen didn't have to buy them.
He then walked to the arena with his team. The arena had thousands of seats.
People were cheering up loudly. In the middle, there was a ring, linked with an auto bridge. Bellow it, there was water.
He and his team got in. Hina started waving at the audience while her teammate looked at Chen and started telling him the plan.
"Alright. Chen, you are new, so here is the plan." She said. "You use your firebending to protect me, and I will shoot them. Okay."
"Okay," Chen replied with a lifeless voice. Once he got into the ring, he took the right side.
Chen took his fighting stance.
The commentary started yelling, creating suspense with his voice.
The opposite team took their stances, glaring at his team.
They were two guys and one girl who were wearing a purple set.
The playing field was split into two sides, blue and red. Each side was split into three zones. On each side, 20 holes contain earth disks. There are grates along the lines of the zone, which would allow the waterbender to summon water.
The rules were simple. Each team is in the front zone. Once a player is knocked back, they can't get back into the front zone. If the whole team retreated, the opposite team is allowed to step a zone forward.
The two teams would fight for a limited time. The one with zone advantage will be considered the winner in that round. Who wins three rounds win the match.
However, if you knock out your rival team, you would win immediately.
"Ready! Start!" The commentary yelled.
They started fighting. The opposite team didn't seem to be as strong as professional pro-bending. They were newbies. They, however, had good moves. Chen noticed a disk heading at him. He clenched his fists and shot a fire stream at it.
There is a rule for firebender. The duration that they shoot fire at doesn't exceed 1 second. That's why he had to charge his fire as fast as possible.
Chen's slightly stronger fire destroyed the disk.

Chen smiled when he looked at the earthbender guy.
He jogged in his place and jabbed, sending streams of fire at him.
The earthbender tried to dodge and used the disks to parry. He then shot a disk at Chen, who managed to dodge using footwork he'd learnt when he was a boxer in his previous life.
Seeing that the guy got tired a bit, Chen kicked and shot a one-meter fire arc to the guy's leg. The earthbender didn't seem to expect that. He fell when the arc hit him. Not wasting such a precious chance, Chen generated a strong fire. Although it was yellow, it took a lot of Chi, thanks to his Flame Generation skill. He unleashed it, and the fire hit the earthbender on the stomach.
"The newbie Chen! he knocked him to the third zone." The commentary yelled, existed. "He seems to be talented! Hold on, Nork is aiming a water stream at Chen. His back flipped in the air and dodged the water! Wait, he kicked backwards and shot a fireball! It's so fast that! Mark is out!"
Chen backflipped, kicking out the earthbender, who was called Mark.
They were three against two now. It was a precious chance. He couldn't waste it.
"Mira! The firebender!" Chen said, calling his teammate. The firebender from the opposite team rolled on the ground to dodge an earth disk. When he stood up, he was in front of Chen, who'd lightly jabbed. The firebender rolled backwards two zones. Mira jabbed too, sending an earth disk, which pushed the man further. And it was the end for him when Chen unleashed a big fire from his fist. He'd put more Chi to generate more flame, yet less quality one. The firebender from the opposite team tried to push it, but Chen's flame was too much, and it knocked him out, to the water.
The waterbender girl turned her head to her teammate. She made a mistake, as Chen's teammates started shooting projectiles at her. She had no chance. Although Chen could just stay aside, he couldn't allow such a chance to gain experience to go in vain. Clenching his fist, he compressed a small stream of fire and shoot it. Once it hit the girl's chest, it exploded lightly and pushed her back. The other girls knocked her out successfully.
"And the winners by a knockout are the Earthquakes! The referees decided that the MVP is Chen Fu. It seems we have a new raising talent here."
"It's been a long time since we won," Hina said, seeming to be in disbelief.
Mira sounded shocked as well. She didn't seem to have faith. "We won!"
The two girls hugged each other and started jumping. They enjoyed the cheers, while Chen just crossed his arms and looked to the side. Despite that the crowd were observing him, his mind was somewhere else. He was thinking about the notifications he heard.

His guess's been right. Joining illegal fights and pro-bending fights were the best way for him to level up. This arena was very similar to the place gamers call Dungeon. It allows him to level up quickly.
He was a step nearer to his goal.
Chen didn't know when the two girls wrapped him, trying to make him jump with them.
"Hey!" Chen exclaimed, asking for some space.
"Just celebrate," Hina said.
"Gimme a break." Chen sighed. The two seemed to be too happy. Thinking about it again, he knew that winning this match was critical for them. They needed their share to pay their rent.
Mira chuckled and patted him on the shoulder. "You did a good job. Hey! Where can we find you, for the next match."
Not wanting to share the location of his house, Chen replied. "You'll find me in the arena gym."
"Don't you have a house to live in? You don't look homeless to me." She replied, raising her eyebrows.
Chen took off his helmet. He faked a smile and said. "I do. But I rarely go to it."
"Why?"
"Personal reasons."
"Okay. I won't bother you." She said. "Just for you to know, we have a match by Sunday."
"Don't worry. Even if there's one tomorrow, I'll come." He smiled.
"By the way, would you like to join us for dinner later, to celebrate."
"Sorry, I have to do something. Next time maybe?"
"Alright."

Once he got home, the first thing he did was open his system and check on his stats.

It seems that lightningbending was at the ninth level.
According to what he'd noticed, people in Avatar world didn't develop the lightningbending beyond what his systems recognised as the 3rd level.
They only release it in one direction. It's deadly, but it's undeveloped.
At the ninth level, Chen could bend lightning to create a circle around him. He could even create a barrier, and he learned how to absorb lightning. But what people know in this world about bending lightning can only be considered to be the 3rd or 4th level in the system.
It meant that Chen could become a unique bender if he focused on levelling up lighting. However, it didn't serve his purpose of becoming rich. Maybe, it can provide him security since he'd interacted with members of the underground world in the past.
"Okay, Chi control is the foundation of lightning bending. The higher the control, the more control I have over separating the negative and positive energies. Still, it helps my firebending and generation too."
Chin put 3000 points on it.

Chen read the last description, which said that he can bend with fewer movements. He waved his head, and a flame traced with his head's movement. The fire turned off in instant. Chen smiled.
He now has 4000 points.
He put 2000 points on fire, and the others in lighting.
He needed to level up lightning since it was related to his safety.

Now that he was left with nothing, he put collapsed on the bed. Opening the storage, he counted the money that he has. He has around 15.000 Yuan, counting his money from work and his share from the pro-bending match.
He felt quite secure. At this rate, he will be able to pay his debts very soon. And he may become rich by becoming a famous bender. What's the matter is collecting money and freedom?
Feeling financially secured, he slept like a babe.
