63 Chapter 62

Chen stared at the glowing chest of Korra. She too was staring at herself.

"Are you talking about me?" a feminine voice came from her chest.

"This?" Korra narrowed her eyebrows.

"Your boobs are talking," Chen said with bland sarcasm. "It's Raava."

"In such a situation, I can't help but find your sense of humour anything but weird." Came Raava's voice.

"Stupid questions don't deserve a smart answer," Chen replied. "Anyway, can you guess why I want to talk to you?"

"Of course, you want to borrow my strength to help you fight against your enemies," Raava replied, seeming suspicious of Chen's intentions.

"You've witnessed that battle, haven't you?" Chen asked.

Raava can't be stupid to think that Chen needed her power.

The phoenix had said something about targeting her Avatar.

She was just in danger like him.

"Most of the time, I don't see through the eyes of my avatar unless it's an important matter, such as your battle with Vaatu, which you have my thanks for, human," Raava replied. "But at the other times, I need to shut myself. The last thing I needed was to see your groins hitting against my Avatar."

Korra blushed a bit. She rubbed the back of her head and said. "Sorry, you had to see that."

"I don't care about that," Raava replied. "I can get access to your memories, Korra. Hold on. The Ancient spirits are here, and they want to seek you!" she raised her voice. "Chen found a way to absorb the power of the spirits without getting killed."

Right. No one had seen him absorbing that dragon's energy. Simply because it was an internal thing.

"Bingo." Chen smiled.

"No wonder, I can sense the energy of the spirit of reincarnation — which I believe you fought. Wang Shi Tong — he grew up. The Ancient Dragon. The Old Lightning Sparrow…"

"Who else." Chen nodded. Although his expression was calm, the more name Raava brought to the conversation, the more he cursed in his heart.

"In total, you have 7 enemies ahead of you. You can add the spirit of the Sun... There is the spirit of the blizzard. Each is a very old powerful spirit, with the weakest being Wang Shi Tong. Although I wouldn't underestimate him. He'd collected knowledge ever since he was born. The one you should be careful of is the spirit of the sun.

"You don't want to kill it, or you will lose your firebending. But on the good hand, your firebending will increase when you get near to it."

"So it's that serious." Chen half closed his eyes. "I have one major question."

"Go ahead."

"Is there a way to seal the Library of Wang Shi Tong," Chen said. "It's their medium between the human and the spirit world."

"True," Raava replied. "You have to find the core. I believe the owl had found a way to bend the energy to link the two worlds together. If you seal the core, they won't find a way to go to this realm, I believe — unless they found another domain. Also, within the library, the spirits are considered immortals. So you have to be careful."

"Hold on," Korra said. "How would that owl know how to bend energy if he didn't come to the world."

"There are more ways to go to the spirit world. Besides, before Wan and I fused, people used to bend energy. I believe that some spirits had the knowledge and exchanged it with Wan."

"Oh…" Korra seemed to understand, and she nodded.

"So, I need to seal the portal, just like I had done. All I need is to find the core of the library."

That should be easy with his electrical sense.

But there was one missing thing.

"That should be easy," Korra said, smiling.

She missed the most important detail.

The library has a core that links it to the physical world.

If you sealed it from the inside, you would be trapped in the spirit world.

Somehow, it felt good that Korra couldn't think about that yet.

It'd feel much easier if Chen was the one to seal it.

In the worst-case scenario, he can venture deep into the spirit world, find the south or north pole portals, and then come back.

Although it looked to be a lot to do, it was better than having everyone he'd ever known dead.

"Yes, and you should hurry," Raava replied. "By now, the spirit of reincarnation healed Zaheer and his group. I can sense that they are forming an alliance to get you."

"No problem." Chen turned to Korra. "You know…"

"Asami must be kept out of this." Korra nodded firmly. "But she won't be happy with that."

"I know…" Chen sighed.

"Ahem… ahem." Came a few coughs. "You forget this is my backyard."

Chen and Korra turned. Asami was looking through the window at them.

Automatically, Chen avoided her gaze. "I know you've been looking. I said that as a joke."

"Smooth. But you can't lie to me this time." Asami said, jumping over the window. "I know how to bend my Chi. Besides, I'm a master martial artist. I'm not weak. I can help."

Chen exhaled a sigh. "You know where am I going, right? There is no way for you to fight these spirits."

"Who said there may be no way? My father had been developing technologies like crazy. I think we may have something. Besides. The trick to absorb spirits should be easy, right?"

"Easy?" Chen narrowed his eyebrow.

"You just combine your energy with them… and then, you seal them inside your core."

"True," Raava said. "It's all about opening the chakra points and sealing the energy within them."

"See… this shouldn't be hard," Asami replied.

"Still can't take you." Chen shrugged. "You can't fly."

This should push her away.

"My father invented the plan. I don't think you can reach the desert without exhausting yourself. Let me give you a ride."

Damn it.

She's still insisting on coming with him.

Doesn't she realise what death is? What's worse was that she was doing it for him.

He should try pushing her away.

"Asami. I'm cheating on you." Chen replied. If she hated him, so be it. As long as she doesn't come with him and stays safe, so be it.

"With who? The cookies?" she replied, not believing him all the time. "I'm still coming."

"She's got a point," Korra replied, patting him on the back.

That's right. Chen barely left the house, unless he'd gone to a shop or on a date, with Asami. Most of the time, he would be at the house, eating cookies.

He exhaled a sigh in frustration.

"Don't worry, I'll just give you a ride."

"Alright." Chen crossed his arms and shook his head.
