15 Chapter 15

Using 29500 experience points, Chen levelled up his Chi control. He skipped three levels.

He could now push Chi through his fingers. That was something worth looking for. But he was in this shitty situation, and he couldn't focus on that detail.

Trying one thing, he though of trying to use the storage. The only thing he needed was to touch the thing with his hand. the shackles were around his finger and pinning him to the wall. Just as he tried it, he heard the notification. [Can't store the whole base]. it seemed that he can't store something linked to something else. They would be counted as one. For an example, he can't simply store a sword's blade without the grip.

Chen took a deep breath, his Chi circling around his body and increasing his strength. His body's temperature rose, creating a misty aura around him.

His muscles tensed and the veins appeared. He could fill his muscles with the mystical energy that was known as Chi. Basically, he was bending it. When his muscles grew up, he felt the shackles becoming tighter. He took a deep breath and focused the blood flow to his shoulders, increasing their size. The shackles tightened. The blood flowed less to his arms, and they became thinner. While feeling electrical numbness in his hand, Chen pulled his fingers. They slide along the sweat on the shackled, and they got free.

Chen moved his hands and lessened the tension around his shoulders. The blood flowed again, and his fingers regained their energy.

Pointing his fingers to the shackle around his wrists, Chen unleashed a jet flame of dark purple fire. He aimed at where the keyhole was. The fire was strong and compressed. It melted the metal. Chen quickly increased his power and pushed. His shackles opened, and he was free.

The area around his wrist turned red. It seems that increasing his Chi Control increased his resistance. However, he was still a human with skin, and he felt hurt. Chen didn't express any sound. Now that his hands were free, he cracked his fingers and looked down. The only thing that pinned him to the wall was his feet.

Not wanting to suffer the same he'd got on his wrists, Chen aimed his fingertips at the wall behind the shackles on his feet. He unleashed a jet flame and created a circle around his feet. Since his strength had been increased, with one pull, he got his feet out with shackles around them.

Chen felt a surge of pain coming from his neck. It had been caused by the bloodbending of Amon.

Chen had been so close to death.

'How long have I been here…' he wondered. He was starving for sure, and he was feeling pain. He hadn't changed the patch on his back. Chen had a strong desire to go and fight for another round. However, he was injured. When he looked at his hands, he found that his wrists were bleeding. It had been caused by his earlier action. Chen felt his mouth becoming dry.

Chen reached for his tattered shirt and ripped it into parts, which he wrapped around his wrists. He opened the storage and picked up a bottle of water. He'd always made sure to keep a bag of food and a bottle of water there. After he'd drunk, he decided to leave. He wasn't in condition to fight with his full power.

He had 15500 accumulated experience left. He could do one thing with it, and it was to increase his lightningbending.

Using ten thousand, he got this notification.

Knowing that he had lost a considerable amount of blood, Chen's priority was to leave this place. Now that he was a Mid Grand Master in both lightning and fire bending, he shouldn't face trouble leaving this place alive.

Chen aimed his hand at the door. The blackish fire left his hand and burned the metal, melting it. Controlling his Chi to make his body stronger and faster, Chen dashed out of his cell. He didn't know where to go, but he knew that he has to head somewhere.

When he ran, he realised that, with his level of Chi control, his speed was about 3 times his original speed. Using his newest skill as a grand-master firebender, Chen increased his speed. It's called Fire Steps, and it boosts his running speed. The purple fire appeared beneath his feet. Each time he stepped his foot, a jet flame appeared beneath it, boosting his speed. Chen could use it without much conscious effort.

Chen didn't know how fast he was now, but he could tell that he was 5-6 times faster now. He only left a trail of smoke behind him. A bunch of anti-benders appeared on his way. Chen, with his Chi boosted, had enhanced senses. He swept his hands on the way, sending two purple fire arcs at the 5 guys on his way. They were ca ugh off guard and couldn't react. They only dashed toward some water pool that was on the side.

Some noticed Chen, and they started chasing him. But they were so slow for him. Chen stopped his movement when he stopped in front of metal bars. They were on their way to a darker place. Chen realised that this place must be linked to a tunnel.

Chen stopped and unleashed a net of lightning at the bars, melting them in a short time. Chen then boosted his speed with his Chi and fire, and he got out running. Very soon, he met with other bars. Behind them, there was light. Chen wasted no time and shot another lightning at them, and they melted. As soon as he was outside, he didn't look behind.

Chen clenched his fists and pointed to the ground. From his fists, two jet flames appeared, pushing him to the sky flying. When it appeared beneath his legs, his speed increased. Chen stopped strengthening his body with Chi and instead used it to increase the power of his fire.

Although he felt quite tired and his body was lacking physical energy, his will to leave this place was stronger than the fatigue.

Chen turned the dark purple flame into a yellow one. Although it lacked in quality, this way, he could generate a higher quantity, which was all he needed to fly faster out of this place.

Since Republic City has high fancy buildings, he could make his way. His wrists started bleeding, yet Chen didn't stop. He continued. At some point, his vision became blurry. Dazed for two seconds, Chen realised that he was heading to the ground. He unleashed a beam of fire down, stopping his movement, and falling in the middle of the cars. One motorcycle almost hit him.

When he turned his head, he saw a tall beautiful green-eyed girl, bending down and asking him if he was okay.

"Wait, aren't you Chen, from pro-bending? Are you fine?"

What he intended to say was 'call the ambulance'

"Don't call the police…" these were Chen's last words before he closed his eyes.

It wasn't his first time losing consciousness from bleeding, not in his previous life anyway. Chen had got hit by bullets when he'd been Joseph. Whenever someone saw him in that state, the first thing Joseph would say. "Don't call the police." And he seemed to carry this habit to his current life. Old habits don't die easily. Whatever. He would just say he meant call the police or the ambulance if he ever found them.
