" Ava… wait. I need your help…" Kevin stopped her.

Ava stopped in her tracks and looked up at Kevin. Her face was stricken. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out as she noticed something different in his eyes.

This time Kevin didn't try to hide his eyes from hers. He didn't turn away. He didn't try to hide the truth from her. Instead, he stared straight at her, his eyes full of sadness. Ava felt her heart twist in her chest. She knew something was wrong, but she couldn't figure out what. She walked to him and stood opposite him.
