Chapter 75

Ezekiel gazed deeply into Evie's eyes and saw the pity and sympathy in those beautiful emerald green eyes.

No! He did not need anyone's sympathy, no one's pity. He had been through this for many years now and no one had ever pitied him.

Why?

Because he caused it upon himself, not even his loving mother pitied him, all she talked about was forgiving himself and seeing the good part of life so yes he needed no one's pity.

"You are still bleeding, I need to tend to it," Ezekiel said, intentionally changing the topic because he knew it was crucial.

Before Evie could open her mouth to say something, Ezekiel left.

Evie took a deep breath in and shut her eyes closed and opened it only to see Ezekiel back with the first aid kit.

He cleaned up the dried blood carefully before applying a cream to heal up the place and he bandaged it.

"This should do for now," Ezekiel told her and lifted his gaze towards her face.

"Thank you," she muttered and Ezekiel only nodded his head and stood up to leave.

"Ezekiel," Evie called out, causing him to halt in his tracks.

"I know about Elijah," she said again.

"And? My mom told you right?" Ezekiel asked.

"No she didn't," Evie replied, causing the lines on Ezekiel's forehead to crease. His mom was the only person that had the audacity to tell someone about Elijah.

Xander wouldn't do that, he was sure of that neither would Paul, he didn't even know the full story nor was he born during that era so could have possibly told Evie if not his mother?

"Who told you?" Ezekiel asked.

"When I passed out, I had a weird dream of where I was with a woman called Selina who claimed to be my godmother and she showed me everything that happened to you that made you become so cold and distant to everyone," Evie explained while Ezekiel's jaw dropped.

It can't be possible! No she can't be the one! The universe must be joking with him right now!

"It can't be," Ezekiel muttered as he stepped backwards.

"What is wrong Ezekiel?" Evie asked, looking so concerned.

"You can't be the one right?" Ezekiel asked again in disbelief.

"Be the one for?" Evie asked, this time around, she was confused.

"You are the one in the prophecy," Ezekiel muttered and then burst into an awkward laughter that caused Evie to stare at him. For a moment, she thought her husband had lost his sanity but then he stopped laughing and looked at her with his expressionless blue eyes.

"You have to leave," Ezekiel told her with all seriousness.

"Why? Because you just found out that I am the chosen one or for the fact that you want to keep wallowing in your self regret?" Evie taunted him.

Ezekiel bit the inside of his lip to keep his anger at bay but then this woman was making him lose control.

"It is better if you leave, you are supposed to be at the hospital for goodness sake," Ezekiel told Evie.

"Listen Ezekiel, I need you to know that what you did back then was a mistake and that your brother took your punishment for you doesn't mean that you don't deserve better. I know that Elijah won't be happy if he sees you like this," Evie said and the next thing she knew was that she was been pinned to the wall.

"Don't you dare speak about Elijah again, am I clear?" He asked through gritted teeth.

"Crystal clear," Evie agreed readily, knowing how sensitive the topic was for her husband.

"My father hasn't forgiven me, he only accepted the fact that I am his blood and that was why I was out of the dungeon," Ezekiel suddenly said.

"Compared to your father, my father is anything but better than him. At least he recognises his blood, my father doesn't. He is an asshole who is set on making my life miserable," Evie added, her voice cracked at the end, tears threatening to spill down her face.

"Everyone has their weaknesses, just be yourself and love yourself," Ezekiel muttered.

"But you don't love yourself," Evie said and Ezekiel looked up at her.

Ezekiel let out a soft chuckle and a sad smile before saying, "I don't love honey, I don't even love myself neither do I love anyone, I believe in trust and commitment."

"You got to leave now Evie and I am definitely not taking no for an answer," Ezekiel said and dragged her along with him towards the door.

Meanwhile,

Back at the hospital,

Juicy could feel it in her bones that Evie was up to no good, though she tried to stay calm, her heart kept racing fastly.

"Xander, can we check up on Evie?" Juicy asked.

"You want to invade her privacy?" Xander asked back.

"No, I have this bond with Evie and I know that sometimes she is up to no good and right now I am feeling that Evie is going to do something uncalled for," Juicy explained.

Xander only moved forward and placed a kiss on her forehead.

"You are scared, no worries babe, the hospital has tight security and she is in the VVIP ward," Xander reassured Juicy but she couldn't just calm down.

"Okay, hopefully she is okay," Juicy muttered as she sat back on the sofa.

Everyone had left and it was just her, Xander, Alice and Paul, and Ezekiel hadn't even showed up.

"I would like to use the restroom," Juicy lied as she stood up and flashed a smile at Alice and turned to leave only to bump into Xander.

"I am sorry," she muttered instantly and that was all Xander needed to know that this woman before him was scared and was up to something.

"Apology accepted," Xander replied and Juicy rushed past him to Evie's room.

Taking a deep breath in, she pushed the room door open only to find it empty.

She knew it! Evie had left but to where?

She quickly rushed back to the waiting room to announce the bad news.

"I got bad news guys, Evie is missing," Juicy announced.

Alice stood up to her feet and rushed to Evie's room only to find it empty as well.

God! Both Ezekiel and Evelynn would be the end of her!

She calmed her racing heart down and thought of where Evie would be but came up to nothing.

"Call her line!" Alice thundered.

"I have already done that but no response," Xander replied as he took the elevator downstairs.

Alice rushed to the security panel to announce Evie missing and may God help their souls if they don't find her as soon as possible.

She was not going to spare any of them.
