Chapter 70

Evie stirred in her sleep, she moved and slowly sat on the bed only for her to face a certain someone.

Ezekiel.

She held his gaze for quite a long time, staring deep into husband's oceanic blue eyes which were alluring.

"I made dinner, come let's eat," Ezekiel told her as he stretched out his hand.

Evie stared at his hand and then her gaze landed on his face, she took a deep breath in before accepting his hand.

His grip on her was tight but he made sure that it wasn't hurting. He took her to the dining room and drew out a chair for her to sit.

Evie flashed him a heartwarming smile and his heart leaped for joy, this was more than expected.

He dished her choice of food for her like a diligent servant who was happy serving his master.

Ezekiel was behaving weirdly and she did not know why, but it felt good yet awkward.

"Thanks," Evie appreciated him and earned a smile from him.

The awkward silence lingered for quite a long time. Evie did not know what to say, in fact she had nothing to say.

Ezekiel had a lot to say but he did not know where to start from, he did not want to offend her further anymore.

"Your friend; Lily's wedding is coming up, do you mind being my second for the wedding?" Ezekiel asked.

"Wait! You know Lily?" Evie asked, earning a chuckle from Ezekiel.

"Kind of, her fiancé is a business partner and I know her from our wedding," Ezekiel replied and Evie only nodded her head.

"So are you following me or not?" Ezekiel asked calmly.

"I would love to," Evie replied.

"That is good to hear. We will go shopping tomorrow, okay?" Ezekiel asked.

"Why do we need to go shopping when I have a lot of clothes in my closet?" Evie asked, quite surprised.

"Because I need you to look beautiful," Ezekiel replied and winked at her.

Evie unconsciously smiled at him and continued eating. The food was nice, she must really give it to him, he is a great cook.

"Thanks for the splendid dinner," Evie appreciated and smiled at him.

"You are most welcome, Evelynn," Ezekiel responded with a smile.

Evie got up from her seat and left for her room leaving Ezekiel all by himself.

Ezekiel uncounciously smiled as he stared at the space for a long time, he took a deep breath in before he left the dining room.

******************

Eloise passed by with her chin lifted high. She is the princess so she has the authority.

She walked into the queen; her mother's chamber.

"Mother," Eloise called out.

"Eloise," Sarah called.

"Where have you been?" Queen Sarah asked.

"I met our helper," Eloise replied, still holding her mother's gaze.

Queen Sarah let out a soundless chuckle and shook her head.

"You only met him?" Queen Sarah asked, pointing her index finger at Eloise who was still oblivious of what her mother was thinking.

"Yes mother, what else are you exp…" Eloise trailed off realizing that her mother had figured out everything. She made sure to clear all evidence of her activities with her helper yet her mother still found out.

"Mother, it is nothing, he was the one who initiated the whole thing, it just happened before my mind could register it," Eloise was quick to say.

Her mother only glared at her for a long time before saying, "next time remember to clean up before you leave," queen Sarah hinted to the hickey on her neck.

"How did it go?" Queen Sarah asked.

"It went well, we are still on track and hopefully there wouldn't be any mistake of any kind," Eloise replied.

"What did he say that we would use against Ezekiel?" Queen Sarah asked.

"His wife," Eloise replied.

Queen Sarah leaned on her chair and stared deep into her daughter's eyes.

"I know Ezekiel, he never cared for anyone, not even his own parents, what makes you think Ezekiel would do as we say if we hold his wife captive," Queen Sarah asked.

"He said that Ezekiel has really been attached to his wife ever since he got married," Eloise replied.

"How about we capture Gracie, it would be better since we know that she has a worth to Ezekiel not his wife that we don't know her worth yet," queen Sarah said.

"Calm down mother, I have reasoned everything out and figured out that we might capture both of them," Eloise stated.

"It would be better that way, I can't afford any loss from our side," queen Sarah made known to Eloise.

"I know mother, I assure you that nothing would go wrong," Eloise assured her mother.

"You seem to trust this man a lot," Queen Sarah pointed out.

"Yes, I do, mother, I have a feeling that nothing would go wrong," Eloise told her mother.

"I hope so, Eloise," queen Sarah muttered under her breath but Eloise heard it.
