Chapter 5

Evie continued to scroll down to see more posts of Ezekiel but all she saw was 'rumoured to be the devil's son and rumoured to be a gay there was nothing else about him apart from that.

Angrily, she threw her phone on the bed and collapsed on it! she stared at the ceiling with many thoughts running through her mind. Her mind was in chaos.

She did not bother to have breakfast with her parents, she could not just stand the sight of them, to her they were more like selfish humans who cared for only themselves.

"Young Ma'am," a staff opened the door to her room after knocking for about some minutes without a response.

Evie glared at her and the staff felt like the ground should open and swallow her.

Of all people to send on an errand to Evie's room, why must it be her?

"Young miss, ma'am asked me to give you this," she extended the shopping bag which contained new clothes in it to Evie.

Evie lackadaisically collected it and was surprised to see a diner gown in it and a note which said,

'get ready to see your future husband at 6:00 pm, venue: Highway Restaurant, the staff would assist you to dress up and you must impress him, make him find something interesting in you.'

Evie did not hesitate to throw the shopping bag at the staff and asked her to carry that trash away from her room.

She was going nowhere, she would never marry that man, can't her parent understand that?

After much debate with her inner mind, Evie decided to go to the restaurant, at least to see the man her parents wanted her to marry.

She quickly took her bath.

Evie did not bother to put on any makeup, of what use? She was not trying to impress anyone here? If anything the man must be aware she does not like the idea of getting married to him.

"Are you seriously going to meet Ezekiel Owens in that attire of yours?" Her mother asked the moment she stepped into the car park.

She was dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a grey shirt, her hair was packed in a messy bun and there was no atom of makeup on her face, she looked too plain.

"Is there any problem with my dressing?" Evie asked.

"There is every problem with it, honey do you know that it is the great Ezekiel Owens you are about to see? I got you a beautiful diner gown and even a stylist and you rejected the offer, look at your dressing now!" Sonia stated.

"The last time I checked it is my body and not yours, so if you do not mind, I am off to Highway Restaurant," Evie rolled her eyes at her mother before getting into the Benz and driving off.

Evie parked her car in the car lot and took in the beauty of the restaurant.

It was a restaurant of wealthy people, everything about it screamed expensive.

Evie emerged through the front door, her gaze swept everywhere in the restaurant. The beauty of this place was a sight to behold.

Evie settled in a vacant seat and busied herself by playing magic tiles on her phone. She looked at her wristwatch and it was past six, what a first impression about her future husband?

He keeps his date waiting! Evie hissed and returned her gaze to her phone.

A few minutes later, no one was seen and Evie was getting tired and frustrated, she stood up and turned to leave when she heard a certain voice echo behind her.

"I believe you are Evelynn Tan?" The man asked and she whipped around to see the gentlemen taking their seats.

Her eyes connected to the man that spoke and was shocked to see that man with ocean blue eyes that was in attendance at the meeting her father held at home the previous day.

"Are you by chance Ezekiel Owens?" Evie asked and the man raised an eyebrow.

"Who does not know Ezekiel Owens?" the man beside him asked.

Evie took a seat and looked at the duo "I don't, I have not been in the country for eight years now so I do not know Ezekiel Owens," she replied proudly.

"I am Paul, Kiel's friend," Paul extended his hand for a handshake and Evie returned it.

"I am Evelynn Tan," she said while shaking him

Her gaze then landed on Ezekiel who seemed less bothered about her presence, she wanted him to apologize for being late.

"I believe it is past six, you were late," Evie told him making his gaze land on her, he did not utter a word for like some minutes before he said,

"Previously it was a crazy woman now it is a slut, why can't my parents let me be?" Ezekiel asked.

"Excuse me?" Evie was quick to respond.

"Did you by any chance refer to me as a slut?" Evie had a hard time believing what he just said.

"Evelynn, what do want to gain from marrying me?" Ezekiel asked leaning on the chair.

"I should be the one asking you that question Ezekiel. Because right now I am been forced into a marriage with someone like you," Evie did not bother to hide her dislike for him.

"Really? How about we cancel the marriage, I would pay you any amount of money you want as long as you never bother me again," Ezekiel suggested.

Why does she feel like this man was thinking she was desperate and after his money.

For crying out loud, she does not even want to marry him, she does not want anything to do with him.

She has dreams she wants to achieve or does he think that all women out there were gold diggers, he must be wrong there, they are still virtuous women and she was one of them.

"I do not need your money, I have more than enough of it, so if do not mind I am out of here," Evie had gotten angry, off all people to matchmake her with, it was this prideful son of a biscuit.

"You are playing hard to get right? Here is my business card, just name the amount and I would see to it," he was also getting up as well.

Evie collected the business card and right before him, tore it into shreds.

Their little argument caused a scene already.

Evie stood before Ezekiel, face to face, though she was on heels, he was still way taller than her but she did not back down.

"Listen here Ezekiel Owens, I am not like every girl out there who is after money, I have my dreams that I am still working on, just because you are handsome, rich and every girl wants to be with you does not mean that I, Evelynn Tan is like them, I have my principles and if had another option then I would not have even agreed to get married to an asshole like you, excuse me," Evie brushed past him and went for the exit.
